Project Overview

Introduction:

This is a casting call for the MOET Audio Drama. Don't worry - MOET is a fill-in name for now until the final title is settled upon. MOET is a sci-fi, modern, coming of age story that follows the misadventures of a 21st century teen named Benjamin, two Londoners from the 1870s named Nicodemus and Clementine, and a gentle-giant alien named Lequwyn. As a fierce pirate and marauding race of aliens known as the Iovvants aim to lay siege to the planet of Mars, it is up to Benjamin to figure out how to enable the planet's life force and revive it enough so it can withstand the Iovvants' attempts to kill it. 


PLEASE NOTE: The Spanish Translator role is the ONLY role to close on June 2. The deadline for voice actors will then be extended to August 31.


Timeline:

Here is the ideal timeline for this project:


  • July 3 - Spanish Translator CLOSED

  • September 30 - Scripts are finalized

  • October 15 - Casting Call for Voice Actors close

  • November / December - Begin (Virtual) Table Read-Throughs

  • January 10 - Recording Begins!

  • May 2024 - Release Pilot Episode

  • 2024 - Slow monthly release of 12 total episodes


Role Details:


  • Payment will be sent via PayPal or Ko-Fi, whatever is agreed upon. Payment is a flat rate per script.

  • I will primarily be communicating via Discord however if email conversation is necessary, that is fine.

  • Recordings should be submitted as cleanly as possible (no echo, no AC or heater or background sounds, minimal mouth noises if able)—post production needs to be as streamline as possible. :)

  • With episode recordings, I would prefer everyone to have availability at the end of the year (tentative October 2023) for roundtable readings. This will help the VAs acclimate themselves to their fellow cast as well as be able to make any banter and dialogue flow nicer. I believe having live read-throughs together will also help me as a director since VAs will be sending me their recordings - we will not be doing live recording for this project (unless upon request).

  • Submissions in either .wav or .mp3 are fine. 

Story Summary:

Benjamin Cinturón thought the worst of his problems was trying to one-up his siblings and figuring out which university to go through. However, when aliens invade Earth chasing his Physics professor - who turns out to also be an alien - Benjamin is thrown into a time traveling race to sustain and save the life of a planet long enough for it to chose its next ruler. When things become grim, and it feels like there is no one there to help, he is lucky to find the golden light of his new friends and family along the way.

  • Thank You, Everyone! - Timeline Reminders & Extras

    Happy Wednesday (soon-to-be Thursday), everyone!

    I know it's been a moment, as submissions for Round 1 auditions a while ago. However, as Round 2's auditions have also come to a close for this project, I just want to thank literally everyone who submitted something. You all are incredibly talented and brought many different takes to these characters - congratulations, you've made the scouting process of this job difficult!

    Looking at the timeline, I will hopefully be reaching out to people in the second week of November, but that may come to change. I will be posting updates here on the project page, as well as keeping people informed on the project's Tumblr (@studio-knightfall) and Instagram (@studio_knightfall).

    Lastly, if there's anyone who I didn't reach out to and would like to still help on the project - well have I got good news! I'm looking for extras. Mind you, there's not many lines (seriously - maybe 1 to 2 words), but if you aspire to be soldiers #1 - 10 or students #50 - 75, then reach out and we'll figure out if it's a good fit for you! Full disclaimer upfront: extras will be unpaid, I just...don't have that sort of budget - I totally understand if that's not your vibe. In that the case, I'm always happy to keep people on a list for for future projects to contact later down the road.

    Alright. I believe that's all the housekeeping items. Again, thank you all so much for sharing your talents with me - and in turn allowing me to share my project with you. Out of Time has been a dream of mine for years now, and to see it start to take shape is truly wondrous.

  • Updates: Timelines for MOET

    Hi everyone,

    Jaf here! Again thank you so much for your continued interest in this project. I'm more than astonished at how much interest this little passion project has gained.

    That being said, as I am just one person, there's a lot more left for me to accomplish before this is ready for recording. Therefore I will have to push the full timeline back by 2 to 3 months. If this does not work with your schedule, I completely understand. There's just a lot to do, and I'm not fast enough to do it ^^" Still I hope to have all voice actors casted by October 15 - and would love to begin (virtual) table reads by late November or early December.

    I will update the timeline on the project page accordingly, and roles for the 2nd set of cast members will open at the end of this month (all things willing).

    So thank you all again, and thank you for your continued patience as I navigate this project.

  • Spanish Translator Role CLOSED

  • Thank You and Project Timelines

    Hi everyone,

    Jaf here!

    I'm completely overwhelmed by the initial interest everyone has shown in these opening weeks for the roles. Imagining my small indie project having intrigued so many talented VAs is way beyond what I imagined for this. So thank you!

    Below I have some more information on the project production, so please keep this in mind when auditioning, especially for a main character like Benjamin Cinturón.

    Project Episodes and Seasons:

    There will be an approx. of 12, ~15-min episodes for season 1. This is primarily for me to understand the pacing and how well my mains will bounce off of one another.

    Ideally season 1 will span all of 2024, with episodes releasing once to twice a month starting in February, although this timeline is very tentative right now.

    While I would like to say there is a definite season 2, it would more than likely not happen until 2026. So for now I will just say, we'll keep season 2 in this project's back pocket.

PLEASE NOTE: The Spanish Translator role is the only role closing on May 29 as I need this role for script creation and finalization.

Your role will be to translate verses of a song into Spanish as well as vet parts of the script for natural sounding inclusion of Spanish within Benjamin's dialogue. MUST have knowledge of meter, internal rhyme, and end rhyme both within English and Spanish.


Prefer someone with experience in Spanish as either their first language or their second language - preferably with knowledge Mexican-American slang to reflect the character's ethnicity.

Benjamin is a young man from the early 2012s. He's about 19 / 20 years old and is the main protagonist of the story. There is a bit of time travel, so he will also need to sound middle-aged (in his early 40s). He is Mexican-American and is from Philadelphia. 

As protagonist, he initially starts off with a mildly-optimistic but otherwise tired personality due to decisions about college and his next steps in life. When the story starts to progress, he becomes a little more jaded, and wary of the world before finally circling back to becoming amiable and enthusiastic about life.

Smarag is an alien within species known as a "Ciraeth" (Kai-wreath) that lives on the planet Caovah (Kow-vah). He is a small furry creature with horns and large ears, claws, and another assortment of odd characteristics. He is a Merchant Master to the Emperor of Caovah and his closest friend. Smarag is an engineer and inventor, and is well versed in both the interplanetary and extraplanetary politics. 


He has a voice as strong as his personality, and can sound a little gruff sometimes. The Ciraeth and Caovah languages were inspired by the different Scottish Gaelic dialects. It's not necessary to keep this in mind, but is a bonus!

Tearlach is the Emperor of Caovah and an alien in the species known as the "Coinneach" (Koen-noch). Due to unknown reasons, partially age, Tearlach is beginning to forget things about both his duties and his planet.


Knowing the grave underlying issue to why he is forgetting, he sends Smarag out on a mission to help save their planet which is so closely tied to his own life.

Capt. Cinturon is Benjamin's mother. She is stern and straightforward, seemingly very disciplined. She is a captain on the police force in Philadelphia. While strict, she does worry about all her kids - and every now and then can be surprisingly gentle with them. 


She is a first generation Mexican-American, and is fairly bilingual in both Spanish and English.
