Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid: An Anime Fan-Made Dub
Project Overview
WHAT IS THIS?
This is going to be a fanmade dub of the popular anime series, Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid. We'll be doing our best to capture the feel and the energy of the series.
For those of you unfamiliar with the premise: As office worker and programmer Kobayashi gets ready for work, she is greeted by a large dragon right outside her front door. The dragon immediately transforms into a human girl in a maid outfit and introduces herself as Tohru. It turns out, that during a drunken excursion into the mountains the night before, Kobayashi had encountered the dragon, who claimed to have come from another world. Subsequently, Kobayashi removed a holy sword from Tohru's back, earning her gratitude. With Tohru having no place to stay, Kobayashi offers to let the dragon stay at her home and become her personal maid, to which she agrees, having fallen in love with Kobayashi. Despite being efficient at housework, Tohru proves an unorthodox individual, occasionally scaring Kobayashi and often bringing more trouble to Kobayashi's life than help. Additionally, Tohru's presence alone attracts other dragons, gods, and mythical beings to her new home. One of these dragons, Kanna, shows up at Kobayashi's door, demanding that Kobayashi return Tohru to the other world. It is then revealed that she'd been exiled from the other world, and having nowhere else to stay, Kobayashi takes her in and becomes her guardian. As both Tohru and Kanna settle into the human world, Kobayashi starts to think of them as family.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Please make sure your microphone is capable of recording your voice without picking up overwhelming background noises or excessive peaking/clipping.
2. You must have a Discord account, as the project will be going into production over there.
3. Your voice files must be sent in a .wav format, though if it ends up too big, .mp3 files will do as an alternative.
4. You need to have a very clear idea of both the series and the character you're auditioning for, especially their dub voice.
5. Open Ethnicity, POC actors are heavily encouraged to audition, especially in terms of roles.

Even though Kobayashi maintains a cool demeanor, she has been regarded as kind-hearted and reliable among her friends and colleagues. Level-headed and pragmatic, she stands as the source of reason when dealing with her dragon friends. Kobayashi usually tends to show little emotion and acts very lazy when she gets to stay at home. However, when she is intoxicated, Kobayashi tends to become rowdy and aggressive, especially in her interests in maids, and is not above subjecting Tohru to her drunken whims.
Often I think human relationships are just confusing. Sometimes I even put distance between myself and others. I’ve had friends, but never close friends.
What each of us hates is someone being too noisy when we want some peace and quiet.

Hey, Tohru! We're giving you some high-level maid conversations, so talk. Got it?
Tohru is a female dragon with the ability to transform into a human girl. After Kobayashi rescues her, she falls in love with her and decides to work for her as a maid. She is the daughter of Damocles. As a Chaos Dragon, Tohru was raised to hate humans and was supposed to be a fierce and dangerous force of evil with nothing other than destruction in mind. However, this all changed when she met Kobayashi. She is now cheerful and kind to every human she meets, except for those who are a real, or as it is in most cases, imaginary, threat to her love interest in Kobayashi. She is also quickly influenced by what she sees on the television or the Internet and shares a fiery relationship with her rival, Elma. As Kobayashi's maid, Tohru is a hard worker and cares deeply for the household, tending to all aspects of daily life, although this will often lead to trouble such as when Tohru tries to feed her tail to Kobayashi, or molests Kobayashi's dirty laundry. Even still, Kobayashi always shows her appreciation for Tohru's efforts and does her best to guide Tohru in the ways of modern life and human culture on Earth. Tohru is very protective of Kanna and is essentially her mother figure and big sister combined. Having been accepted by Kobayashi even in her dragon form, Tohru quickly fell deeply in love with her. Even faced with Kobayashi's stoic character and often unrequited advances, Tohru never fails to make her unending love for Kobayashi known. Overall, Tohru is warm, loving, and responsible. Although she retains much of her dragon-like powers and strength, she is more than happy with her life on Earth and loves Kobayashi so much that she would rather stay and inevitably outlive her rather than return to her homeworld.
I know the more I treasure being here and these moments, the sadder I’ll be when the time comes. But I’ll embrace it! I never want to confuse those feelings with regret because she’s worth it!

Kanna is a young female dragon, who was exiled from her world as a consequence of her pranks. Kanna is soft-spoken and quiet and demonstrates most of her emotions through minute expressions. Despite being technically older than her human peers, Kanna behaves no differently from a human child as she easily tires of routine and enjoys playing games. However, despite her generally unexpressed and implicit demeanor, Kanna is not without emotion. According to Tohru, she is quite mischievous and enjoys playing pranks, though this was an ultimately futile effort to obtain her parents' attention. When Kanna arrives in the modern world, she is initially distrustful or curious about most belongings in the modern world but is revealed to enjoy many things she discovers. Once Kanna discovers something she is attracted to, she becomes very possessive. She appears to be attached to many other individuals as well, such as Tohru, and briefly Riko Saikawa. Kanna is naturally observant and curious but is confused as to how she should react to the modern world, questioning as to whether or not she gets along with her classmates.
Come home with me. I need you, Lady Tohru.

I knew it! I saw you on your date at the bazaar! You were holding hands in public! You perverts!
Elma is a female dragon from the Dragon Faction of Harmony, the opposing faction of Chaos (to which Tohru belongs to). She adopts the name Elma Joui as her human alias after she finds that she is unable to return to the dragon world. Elma is very persistent in that she tries to bring Tohru back to the other world, despite the latter voicing her opinion that she'd rather stay peaceful living with Kobayashi. Elma's most defining personality trait is her gluttonous appetite. Elma has a sweet tooth of sorts, having shown her love of food of all kinds from the cream bread, to after her first day of work, when Kobayashi gives her a piece of a hashbrown, to where she impulsively buys a bag of waffles. Because of this side of her, Elma can easily be tempted when presented with food. She is even willing to sometimes go against certain rules by the Harmony Faction despite being a well-known member. In some instances, her gluttonous appetite is depicted as a borderline addiction.
What do they expect me to do? What do I do?! I could go for both! No, that would go over my daily limit! I can't! But, still!
There's no way I can't do human labor. Just watch me.
Lucoa is a former dragon goddess and an old friend of Tohru who was exiled from her seat of goddess after consuming some cursed liquor that led her to enter into a scandalous affair. Lucoa appears to be laid-back and carefree and is rarely seen without a smile. She is wise, kind, and nurturing and often has advice for her younger kin. As a former goddess, she is better tuned to human customs. Despite this, however, Lucoa seems to lack some sense of dignity severely. She is not above using her body as a means of getting what she wants. As a member of the spectating faction, she does not interfere with any events involving the dragons or gods. She hates conflict so much that she will run away at the first sign of trouble without protecting anyone and then act as if nothing had happened after everything is over; without even caring if any of her friends had died. She is self-conscious of this fact but does not seem intent to change.
This fight only happened because you've grown so close to each other.

Fafnir. is Makoto Takiya’s roommate and friend. At the beginning of the series, Fafnir abhorred humans for everything they were. As the series goes by, his heart warms up to a human with similar interests, and takes on a sensei-student style friendship with Makoto Takiya. His hatred for humans turns into more of an indifference to them, and more of a pain to get to know them rather than just kill or ignore them. He is extremely attracted to video games and other Otaku interests since his lifestyle of a cursed dragon can easily accommodate it. He is hardworking and diligent in his passions.
Humans are either hits or misses. The misses make themselves known quickly, but it takes time to know if you’ve found a hit.
You would voice your desires without shame? Very well. You are truly human.
Ilulu is a female dragon who belongs to the Chaos Dragons Faction. Originally, she came to Kobayashi's world to destroy Tohru and then tries to drive Kobayashi away from Tohru. After a change of heart, she begins to live with Kobayashi as her third dragon resident. When she first appeared, Ilulu was a psychotic, war-mongering force with a firm hatred for humanity. She initially was disgusted by the idea that Tohru could coexist with a lowly human, which led her to believe that Kobayashi must've been smitten by her. Her opinion on humanity was so strong, that she was shocked that Kobayashi would risk her life to save her so much so, that she was convinced that she was a trickster. Once she redeems herself, Ilulu had some difficulties adjusting to human society, despite being roughly the same age as Tohru. As such, Kobayashi often tasks Tohru with babysitting Ilulu. She also was determined to find her purpose in life, even though her initial conclusion was too lewd to put into serious consideration. Despite being thousands of years old, she behaves like a child similarly to Kanna, even though there are a few obvious differences. She doesn't feel any shame when naked in front of others.
What are you saying? I'm with the chaos faction. I'm more than happy to fight.
Humans and dragons can't coexist. What Tohru feels for you is nothing more than curiosity. When that finally runs out... (Sees Kobayashi is falling asleep) Don't sleep!
Damocles is the father of Tohru and is known as the Emperor of Demise. Damocles is callous and stern, hating humans and viewing them as inferior and evil - a belief he tried to impart on Tohru. However, unlike other Chaos Dragons, he respects the non-interference laws preventing dragons from killing humans of Earth, although when angered, he attacks Kobayashi and threatens to leave her at the brink of death. Despite this, he cares for his daughter and is concerned for her safety and happiness.
You would live a quiet life as a human? One day you'll fray apart. You've sensed that, haven't you? Come back, Tohru. Before you get hurt.
We must obey the rules of the world. If the dragons charged with defending order are found to be in this world, others will be influenced by that and make their way here. Things may be fine now, but eventually some will plot an invasion. What then?
Makoto is Kobayashi's friend and her coworker in Jigokumeguri System Engineering Inc. Takiya is good-natured and even-tempered (he takes surprises in stride), and is considerate of others by lending a helping hand. As a closet otaku, he can be especially passionate and loud about his interests. When drunk, he and Kobayashi usually argue, ranting about maids and other things, and he sometimes calls Tohru's outfit "Cosplay".
When your emotions are heightened, you can easily overstep.
But when we follow their exact directions, it always causes failures, right? And if we don't point it out, the developers don't notice either.
Riko is Kanna Kamui's friend and classmate. At first glance, Riko seems bossy and mean, but over time she seems nicer as shown with Kanna, and very polite around people like Kobayashi. She has a crush on Kanna and enjoys being around her. When being touched by Kanna or receiving praise from her, Riko tends to grin goofily and get red in the face, becoming overwhelmed with excitement.
(To Kanna) I'm going home with you today, so consider it an honor.
(Flustered) U-um, um, I need to prepare my heart.
Georgie aka Nae is the older sister of Riko Saikawa. She often likes to pretend to be a housemaid. Georgie is a sweet and gentle lady. She always supports Riko and her family. She seems to know a lot about maids and has a huge passion for them. She has gotten so dedicated to being a maid that she tends to forget her given name “Nae”, when out of costume.
The unusual... The fact that you encounter things you can only find here creates memories, and the things you interact with let you forget your daily life.
It's true the designs have changed with different eras and customs, amd tjpse designs continue to be polished every day as the maid outft changes. However it is always a maid who wears one.
Shouta is a young boy born into a family of mages in the modern world. Shouta is quite a shy person most of the time when being with Lucoa. When Lucoa attempts to seduce Shouta, he would run away with embarrassment and accuse Lucoa of being a demon.
I’ll achieve my desires myself.
