Project Overview
Malika is a popular cosplayer. She’s polite, hardworking, and endearing to everyone! Except in her real life, where she works a dead-end job. She blocks out the people she can’t be bothered to care about (sometimes to her detriment) and she lacks the motivation to do anything except work on her cosplays and indulge her vices. Her friends, the ever-friendly Summer and the long-suffering Dominic, put up with her antics to varying degrees.
This is a short intended for a general audience. If the series is authorized, future shorts may depict the character indulging in excessive alcohol consumption.

You know I heard that girl wasn't actually that nice. (beat) I'm sorry, I didn't hear that, I was trying to be a supportive friend but I can't lie about someone like that! Did you know she became a doctor at a free clinic for economically disadvantaged children? She put herself through medical school with her modeling career!
Malika, how could you? The children are our future! Unless we steal it from them first…
I'm not a doctor. In fact, I really suggest that people don't take any advice from me, medical or otherwise

My problem isn’t with how I would look in the photograph so much as it is with the idea that the photograph would exist at all but if that's what you want to do with your life I guess I'll succumb to it.
And that's fine, you know. It's fine. It's what it is. It's a whole thing and that thing is the thing that the thing is.
That's why you shouldn't let yourself believe that things will happen for you.

It’s a good thing I’m not the only character in this short or it wouldn’t pass the Bechdel test! Tee hee!
