Lupin VIII: Pilot OVA FANDUB!
Project Overview
Lupin VIII was a cancelled TV show spin off of the Lupin III series, created by Monkey Punch. Lupin VIII was meant to be a more child-friendly version of the Lupin series that was set in the far future, but the project fell through and all we have left of it is the pilot- mostly complete except for the lack of voice work. That's where you come in. We are looking for fans of Lupin III to join us in our mission to fully dub the pilot film.

Lupin VIII, much like his ancestor, is smart, charismatic and playful, but he is an extremely good detective. He feels somewhat weighed down by his ancestors' reputations as master thieves and seems to constantly strive to prove that he is not like them. He is a hopeless romantic and a massive flirt, though his heart will only ever fully belong to Fujiko.
Take inspiration from Lupin III's voice actors, he's had many different voice actors, but they all seem to convey his cheeky, yet goodhearted nature: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9rE6dce6SLQ
[Lupin is defending himself after Zenigata accuses him of being up to no good]
'Look, I told you before: My ancestors may have been world famous thieves, but I'm a different guy!'
[Lupin is confronted by a small girl in his office, he thinks she is just there to waste his time]
'Young lady, this isn't a place for little children. We can play when you're a little older, okay?'
[Fujiko and Lupin are on the moon, Lupin is desperately in love with Fujiko]
(Flirty) 'But since we're on the moon, why not have our date here? Better yet, how about a honeymoon?'
Jigen is a cool, calm, collected gunman who is Lupin's closest ally and best friend. He acts as the voice of reason when Lupin gets too overzealous but is no stranger to teasing him or making jokes.
Take inspiration from Jigen's voice actors: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zwdd-xRB-2I
[Lupin is complaining that his plans with Fujiko are cancelled. Jigen tries talking sense to him]
'Give it up, Lupin. This happens every time...A woman's heart is a fickle thing.'
-Note: Lupin's name can be pronounced both as "Loo-pin" or "Loo-pawn", though the latter pronunciation has become standard in the series.
[Lupin and Jigen see that there is someone at the front door]
'Looks like a new case to add to your repertoire.' (jokingly) 'Or did you ask her out on a date as well?'
[Lupin and Jigen are discussing their target, a diamond smuggler who hibernated in hiding for 100 years to escape arrest]
'He thought he'd be safe after 100 years of hibernation...Anyways, only he knows the location of the stash of diamonds.'
Goemon is the strong, slient type. He is stern, serious and every word he speaks seems to have some wisdom hidden within. Goemon can slice through most anything with his sword, though he does not like to show off and makes it seem effortless.

[Goemon slices a fly in half with his sword, he speaks mostly in proverbs]
'A fly may try to fly away...Once again, I needlessly ended a life.'
[Goemon is keeping Alice entertained in his own way by asking her some deep life questions]
(A little too seriously for someone who is talking to a child) 'Then ask yourself: What is the origin of life?...You believe life is nothing but a speck of dust?'
[After slicing a giant robot in half, Goemon utters another proverb]
'Human desire is but a mote in the infinite universe.'
Inspector Zenigata is the hot-headed, bumbling rival of Lupin VIII. He is fully convinced that Lupin is a thief, just like his ancestors were, and is always suspicious that he is up to no good. Zenigata takes his job very seriously and always keeps a close eye on Lupin and Jigen.
Take inspiration from Zenigata's voice actors:
[Zenigata is ordering the police-bots to check Lupin's car for anything suspicious]
'Check everything! That guy has thief blood running through him!'
[Zenigata is suspicious of Lupin, though Lupin maintains his innocence]
'One day we'll see your true colours. The Zenigatas always got their man and so will I.'
[Lupin tells Zenigata to loosen up a little, Zenigata takes great offence]
(Yelling) 'Don't tell me how to do my job!'
Fujiko Mine is your typical femme fatale: sexy, flirty and knows exactly how to manipulate men to get what she wants. She is obsessed with treasure and jewels, and will jump at any opportunity to seduce an unlucky millionaire in order to steal his riches. She pretends to only be interested in Lupin VIII when he brings her shiny jewels and expensive gifts, though she does secretly love him very dearly.

[Fujiko's answering machine]
'I'm away on business right now. Try again tomorrow, okay? Bye.'
[Fujiko is invited to relax in a simulation of a beach by the Mediterranean sea]
'This looks exactly like the Mediterranean sea.' (dismissive) 'though, it's not really my style.'
[Fujiko is trying to seduce Gordon]
(flirty) 'Hey Gordon, you like pretty things, don't you?'
Alice is not a regular character in the Lupin series, she appears to send Lupin on a mission to find her great great grandfather, who went into hibernation 100 years ago. Alice is a young girl, roughly around the ages of 7-10 years old. She is polite, but as kids do, she sometimes doesn't think before she speaks. Feel free to voice this character however you feel, as there is no real reference as to what she would sound like.
[Alice has just met Lupin, she points out that he resembles a monkey, like how her teacher said humans evolved from monkeys]
'Are you Mr. Lupin?...Huh. So my teacher tells the truth once in a while...He said humans used to be monkeys!'
Note:- Lupin can be pronounced as both Loo-pin and Loo-pawn, though the latter pronunciation has become standard in the series.
[Alice and Goemon are having a conversation about the origin of life]
'Origin of life?...Flowers give off little specks of dust to make more flowers. So, I guess that's what the origin of life is.'
[Alice is pondering the concept of her great great grandfather watching over her]
(in awe) 'A man wishing me well from 100 years ago...It does seem like a dream. I just can't believe it.'
Gordon is the one-off villain for this episode. The Lupin series has a plethora of villains-of-the-week and most of them are rich, greedy and looking to expand their wealth, Gordon is no different. Feel free to go full evil villain for this role, as Lupin villains tend to be unapologetically slimy and cunning.
[Gordon is receiving a message informing him that Lupin VIII is looking for Willy as well]
'What? Lupin the Eighth!?...Doesn't matter, eliminate anyone who gets in the way. And bring me Willy, that backstabber!'
Note:- Lupin can be pronounced as both Loo-pin and Loo-pawn, though the latter pronunciation has become standard in the series.
[Gordon has captured Willy and is introducing himself as the grandson of Willy's ex accomplice.]
'Good morning, Willy...Have you forgotten? Gordon was his partner in the robbery. I'm his grandson.'
[Gordon has both Willy and Fujiko at gunpoint, after locating the diamonds he was looking for]
'I will kill you both. A fitting burial for a 100-year-old criminal and a traitor, don't you think?'
Though he is a very minor character himself, Willy is the whole reason this episode's story exists. 100 years ago, he and Gordon's grandfather stole a large amount of diamonds and hid them on the moon. Being pursued by the law, Willy put himself into a hibernation machine and slept for 100 years in order to escape the law. Though he is a thief, he seems genuinely good at heart, he wishes his great, great granddaughter, Alice well and doesn't seem upset when finally arrested. Feel free to approach this role however you wish, as there is no reference for this character.
[Willy has uncovered the diamonds he hid 100 years ago and is suddenly overcome with greed]
'This is mine! This isn't what we agreed on!'
