Lionbound (2D Animated Series) - Boldbird Studios
Project Overview
What is this project?
Lionbound is a 2D Animated Series that follows the story of a young Cheetah named Lallu adopted by a pride of lions after her biological mother abandons her. She gains new abilities that she cannot control, which causes the lion pride to despise her even more as they believe her to be unworthy of these newfound powers. She must team up with unlikely friends, and fight fearsome foes in order to pave her own way through life, and finally find a place in the world that she belongs. The series is targeted towards people of all ages, and will feature themes of acceptance, found family, self-worth, and heroism. We currently have five (5) seasons planned, with the first season being eight (8) episodes long. It is being produced by Boldbird Studios, and will be available to view on both Youtube and on the Boldbird Studios' website.
IMPORTANT NOTE: As of writing this listing (20/07/2022), this project is considered a Volunteer project and is not currently being funded. This may be subject to change, however as of right now it is not paid.
What is Boldbird Studios?
Boldbird Studios is a new emerging Animation/Production Studio that values a safe work environment for the Creative Community, and also about producing content that we care about. We have over 300(!) members of staff that are working on their own teams and projects, with many more joining our ever-expanding family. We strive to be a diverse, and friendly workplace where everyone regardless of race, gender, sexual identity, religion, or political viewpoint is accepted. Lallu is a brave, kind, goofy, emotional and dramatic 12-year old cheetah cub. She can be extremely cold and distant to cruel people, and is afraid of unknown, mostly male, lions. She feels as though she has to prove herself to her lion family and doesn’t fit in with other cheetahs. She desperately wants to please her father Halkaone and connect with her sister, Savaia. She struggles with her powers, as she is extremely impulsive and acts on emotion. She is deeply affected by her family’s loss of Hawina, and feels she is the much less-deserving replacement of her.
Note: We also are open to a British Accent.
(Shocked)
Moma, what’s happened to me? Am I not the same as I was before?

Woah! Do you see that? Tomha puked out a fish! (laughs)
(Hurt)
I don’t feel good, with how you treat me. You wouldn’t care if I fell in a watering hole, and drowned!

(Determination)
I felt the sun on my cheeks, and somehow I felt everything would be alright. And maybe if I won’t, everyone else will be.
(Storytelling)
When I looked up, there was a leech, with its jaws on my leg, and I pushed and pushed, but it had its clutches on me so tight it wouldn’t get off!

(Angry)
Leave him alone, you smelly jaw!
Wor was adopted as Tall Heart’s and Halkaone’s brother. He was manipulated by Anarch ever since he was little. He wants to free Anarch by killing the Essence (Lallu) to get revenge on Tall Heart and Halkaone and destroy the world.
Tell me, girl. (Pause) What is your place in this world?
(In denial) Banished? You can’t banish me, I belong here! I belong here more than any of you have ever deserved! You will find out what happens when you get on my bad side.
Tall Heart is what the pride calls you now? (Chuckles) What a joke (pause) What a lie! But I know you, Tall. (beat) I know you! I KNOW WHO YOU REALLY ARE, COWARD!
Motive: Wants to destroy the Essence and release the elements to end the world
He is chaotic, but plots in the shadows like a puppeteer pulling the strings. He likes to go through every possibility of what could happen, because of that it seems like he is all knowing.
He hates the essence now obsessed with stealing back his powers, and has a hatred for the entire world and “death” as a concept due to causing him the loss of his friend.
(Manipulative) You know, child? If you kill the Essence, everything you’ve ever desired could be yours…
You failed the one task I commanded of you. (beat) Correct? [Wor is in pain.] Wor, Wor… dear child. There is a reward for every victory and a cost to every failure. Let this be your only warning. Get. Me. The. Essence. (Pause) Refuse, and you will see where you end up shortly..
(darkly) Well done, Little Leaf. But it will never be enough.
She seeks her mother’s and father’s affection and approval. She is insecure about her place in the pride. She bullies Lallu and Tomha for associating with her. She misses Hawina. She is the leader of the cubs and they try their hardest to make her happy. She closes off others and is distant to make her seem strong. Savaia hides her guilt and inside she feels lonely.
Other notes: Her voice should be firm and haughty.
(Irate, scoffing) Oh shut up Worm. You can't do anything right. Momma babies you worse than Tomha!
(Laughing, jubilant, teasing) Honestly, you two could not be bigger jokes.
(Sad, Lost, Looking for guidance) I just (pause) I just wish that you would look at me, at least once. You never… you never see me.
I’ll tear your fur off your muzzle, we’ll see what you have to say then.
Time keeps his distance from everyone and prefers to stay apart even though he is adored by every member of the pride. He is very confident in his skills. He is talented. He wants to be the essence and no one doubts that he will even for a second. He hates Lallu for being the Essence instead. He wants to please his fathers and thinks they only love him for his abilities. Through the story he starts to have a crush on Lallu, and feels increasingly guilty for sabotaging her.
Notes: His voice should be sleek and proud.
Yeah dad, I will. I’ll try.
(heavy breathing) What happened? What did I do wrong?
(seething) I don’t want to talk to you. Not now, not ever.
Claws are like a lion’s heart. They beat along with your pulse, protect and defend you. Don’t lose sight of them, and don’t be stupid.
Tomha prefers to stay with his mother. He tries to be close to his sisters, but has problems with opening up. He is seen as a weak member of the pride. He is shy around other cubs, especially when he doesn’t know them. Loves his sisters but avoids contact with them.
Notes: His voice should be shy, shaky and anxious. It often breaks.
Can you please just QUIET down!! There's no peace between the two of you! And I have a headache!! .. (becoming shy again) Sorry.
We can’t do that! Can we just stay here? I don’t like how it smells.
He is afraid. Father is… he is hard to understand. But he’ll come around.
Halkaone is the leader of Freetail pride, and Lallu’s adopted father. He is distant, harsh, and deeply loves his family, including Lallu. He grieves his daughter Hawina’s loss, and blames himself for her death. He is Mirai’s mate, a dominating, well-respected, fearless lion who is anxious and unkind to Lallu. He is very hard on her, and slowly apologizes to her, becoming her father figure.
Notes: His voice should be rough, deep and authoritative.
She doesn’t belong here, with us, and she never will. This is a place for lions, not for washed up scraps of fur.

(struggling) You could never replace my… you’ll always be an outsider here.
She is the mother of Tomha, Savaia and Hawina. She took Lallu in. She is extremely protective of Lallu and the other cubs. She misses Hawina. She is skilled and is highly respected though she is socially outcast by other lions for accepting Lallu as her own child. She is intelligent and strong willed and isn’t easily affected by other’s opinions. She can be violent and hateful when it comes to her children getting hurt and will choose them over her mate. Her selfless spirit comes from her being taken care of by an unknown lioness and brought into Freetail pride as a newborn, never knowing who brought her there.
Notes: Voice should be kind, but it carries some weight.
(Sharp, but motherly) Savi, enough. How many times must I tell you? Claws and fangs do not solve life's problems.
(Strong, Angry, Insulted) How dare you? Don’t you ever speak to me like you know me, because you don’t anymore.
She is a REAL PERSON. She isn’t a replacement, she is OURS.
(Crying, Distraught, Disbelieving) Tomha? Tomha? Tomha, dear one, speak to me. (Pause) Tomha please, please open your eyes!
Easygoing, not easily shaken, righteous, level headed, compassionate.
Notes: Her voice should be kindhearted and shy.
(Caring) Are you okay? I was worried sick about you! I thought a monkey strangled you in your sleep with its tail!
(Scared, horrified) Come on, I don't think we are supposed to go in there. We’re all scared, Savaia. Let’s not lose our pawsteps.
No, I’ll go instead. It’s okay brother, you stay here where it’s safe.
Male, Halkaone’s elderly friend, who is a mentor/wise guiding figure to Lallu. Tall Heart is the previous Essence before Lallu. He is very gentle, slow-moving, wise, kind and quietly talkative. He accidently hurt his cub, Achas, (father to Lallu's bully Ruft), who has become violent and hateful, he blames himself for that. wor tried to kill him and his love jumped in front of him, and he blames himself deeply. He is fond of Lallu and wants to protect her, is only really close to Mirai and Halkaone, though does not trust himself, sometimes does not eat or feed himself as self punishment for his past.
(Wise, Dutiful) To be the Essence's mortal avatar is to be part of a greater whole. A single step on a journey only few have traveled.
(Heavy, huffing laughter) Oh, Young one. Your joy makes me feel young again. Do not ever lose that.
(Strong, Commanding, the voice of someone who has carried the world on his back) You overreach Halkaone. What and how I teach your daughter is no concern of yours. I do not answer to you and never have. (A heavy pause) I want what is best for the both of you, brother.
Female, Mirai’s sister, stingy and loathes cheetahs but sweet somewhere inside.
You just had to take that little thing in, didn’t you? Don't you have enough going in your life already? This little one is going to bring us trouble.
She isn’t yours. I don’t want to hurt your feelings, sister, but it’s the truth. Don’t go thinking she will be welcomed here, it just isn’t natural.
Male, Time’s father, unconditionally loving father towards Time, but prejudiced towards cheetahs.
(Caring) Okay my boy, are you well rested? Is your fur groomed? Let's brush your ears, kiddo.
You will always be special to me, Essence or not. Come, let’s get you something to eat.
Male, Time’s father, somewhat hard on Time, wanting to make sure he is able to survive so pushes him hard.
(Harsh) Today your fate will be sealed with the essence. You can’t fail. I didn’t prepare you for nothing. You will do well, my son.
Today I lost all hope for you. (growling) Leave me!
Female, talented lioness who is kind to Lallu when no one else is there.
(Supportive) Your mother cares for you, everyone can see it. And others do too, even if they don’t show it very well.
I said nothing like that at all. Don’t make up stories, or you’ll end up stuck in one.
Female, bully to Lallu who was scarred by a cheetah.
(Raged) You wretched worm! I have fought enough cheetahs in my life, I don't want one hovering anywhere near me.
(Growling, angry) Don't count on support from me, you should have been banished long ago.
Female, mother to Circa and Briary, who does not like Lallu near her cubs.
(Caring, angry) Do not come any closer, do you hear me? I want you at least ten feet away from her at all times, or else, you’ll wind up with spots like that. Do you want that? Hmm? No? Okay, then listen to mommy.
(Worries) I am never comfortable with that family, allowing her to stay with them? Uncomfortable, and WRONG, is what that is.
Male, an extremely aggressive lion who does not take kindly to weakness, father to Tuft, son to Tall Heart.
(crazy, mad) We must take it away from here. We have to kill her, I will kill her myself. Just give me a sign and I’ll do it.
What a shame one as weak as her has been given such power. An insult to us all.
Male, Savaia’s best friend, wants to get Savaia’s attention so is mean to Lallu.
(Wanting attention) Want to see something funny? Look, look over here Savaia! Lallu you’re useless! Did you see that? Savaia? Savaia?
(Pleading) Please Savaia talk to me. Your father doesn’t really see it, but you’re… you’re the best of us! For real.
Male, Lallu’s terrible bully who takes after his father.
My father says you weren’t born a lion. You don't belong here, do you? Your stench is ruining my meal, MOVE before I put your head underneath the water for good.
Don't try to help me! I don't want anything to do with you. Go whine to your mother about me, why don’t you?!
Female, is betrothed to Time, selfish yet kind-hearted.
(Mixed feelings) Why would I want to talk to her? It’s not like she is going to be my friend.
I don’t think she’s brave, or smart, or capable. What’s going to happen to us if she can’t save us?
I guess I didn’t think about it that way. I do pity her sometimes, it’s hard not to.
