Les Miserables Full Musical Cover Gender Swap
Project Overview
This project is a very long ongoing project I have been working on for about a year and a half now that I devote my time to when not working on other projects.
Here's the twist about this full cover: All roles will be genderswapped!
The roles listed are the ones that are still open. Anything not listed has already been completed.
RULES:
1. You MUST be committed to the project! After losing actors about 60 times, I will be much stricter about how long you can stay on before you will be replaced.
2. For the sake of auditions, just sing the words as originally written. Changes will be made during the actual project.
3. All auditions MUST have an instrumental of the song requested.
4. It is preferable that you have some sort of musical background and can read sheet music, or at least be able to harmonize.
5. You must be okay with accepting a role you did not originally audition for, even if that means you're a part of the chorus.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
will be recording at home and sending those recordings to me over email
or through Casting Call so I can edit everything together.
for this project will NOT be something that you can pump out in
an hour. It will take time to learn all of the proper parts and
harmonies. I usually give everyone about a month to record their
portion, and while I do extend deadlines, I will
extend the deadline only once, and after that I will recast the role.
These roles require a good deal of emotion and a wide vocal range. Show me everything you have in the audition, so I know you will do so in the real thing. Your audition will show me if you are capable of handling a large role with multiple parts.
Above all, make sure to have fun!

The lead of the show. She has spent 19 years in prison for trying to steal a loaf of bread for her brother's child. She attempts to rob a nun who shows kindness to her, but when the nun releases her from soldiers and saves her from returning to prison, she vows to change in order to repay the nun for her kindness, breaking her parole. She goes on to become the mayor of the city. When Javert learns her true identity, she must run in order to escape punishment for violating parole. After this, she saves the son of a prostitute from living as a servant in the home of the Thenardiers.
Cosette grows up in her care. Upon finding out one of the students planning the revolution has fallen in love with her son, she goes to help in order to protect her son's love. When Javert is captured, she voluntarily releases her. The battle rages on and everyone is killed. She carefully carries away Marius to find her medical care. After saving her, she goes away in order to protect her son and his love from her past.
She returns just in time to see Cosette again before dying.
Very, very wide range. Many belt notes. Both alto notes and soprano notes. Must be able to hit both.

Who am I?
Can I condemn this man to slavery
Pretend I do not feel his agony
This innocent who bears my face
Who goes to judgement in my place
Who am I?
Can I conceal myself for evermore?
Pretend I'm not the man I was before?
And must my name until I die
Be no more than an alibi?
Must I lie?
How can I ever face my fellow men?
How can I ever face myself again?
My soul belongs to God, I know
I made that bargain long ago
He gave me hope when hope was gone
He gave me strength to journey onWho am I? Who am I?
I am Jean Valjean! And so Javert, you see it's true
That man bears no more guilt than you!
Who am I?
24601!Bring him peace
Bring him joy
He is young
He is only a boy
You can take
You can give
Let him be
Let him live
If I die, let me die
Let him live
Bring him home
Bring him home
Bring him home.
One word from him and I'd be back
Beneath the lash, upon the rack
Instead he offers me my freedom
I feel my shame inside me like a knife
He told me that I have a soul,
How does he know?
What spirit comes to move my life?
Is there another way to go?
I am reaching, but I fall
And the night is closing in
And I stare into the void
To the whirlpool of my sin
I'll escape now from the world
From the world of Jean Valjean
Jean Valjean is nothing now
Another story must begin!
The antagonist of the show. She follows the law to the letter and has made it a mission to capture Valjean after she escapes from the law and breaks parole. When she realizes that the mayor is in fact Valjean, she attempts to capture her but without success.
When the revolution occurs, she infiltrates as a spy so she can thwart the cause but she is found out and captured. To her shock, Valjean releases her. When she catches Valjean trying to save Marius, she realizes the error of her ways her entire life. So consumed with confusion and guilt after all she has done, she commits suicide.
Very wide range and many belt notes. Most appropriate for an alto or mezzo-soprano.

And so it must be, for so it is written
On the doorway to paradise
That those who falter and those who fall
Must pay the price!
Lord, let me find him
That I may see him
Safe behind bars
I will never rest
Till then
This I swear
This I swear by the stars!
And must I now begin to doubt,
Who never doubted all these years?
My heart is stone and still it trembles
The world I have known is lost in shadow.
Is he from heaven or from hell?
And does he know
That granting me my life today
This man has killed me even so?
I am reaching, but I fall
And the stars are black and cold
As I stare into the void
Of a world that cannot hold
I'll escape now from that world
From the world of Jean Valjean
There is nowhere I can turn
There is no way to go on!
One of the students who is in charge of the revolution. She is a very headstrong young woman whose whole life is devoted to earning freedom and rights for the oppressed in Paris. She is the best friend of Marius and an excellent leader for all of the other students. While she is tough, she also expresses concern for others, sending all of the parents leave the battlefield so that their children will not grow up parentless. She also shows great concern for Marius after Eponine dies in her arms and makes sure that everyone rests before the final battle. Despite all her efforts, she is killed in battle along with her classmates.
Many, many belt notes. Most appropriate for alto or mezzo-soprano.

Do you hear the people sing?
Singing a song of angry men?
It is the music of a people
Who will not be slaves again!
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes!
It is time for us all
To decide who we are...
Do we fight for the right
To a night at the opera now?
Have you asked of yourselves
What's the price you might pay?
Is it simply a game
For rich young boys to play?
The colors of the world
Are changing
Day by day...
Red - the blood of angry men!
Black - the dark of ages past!
Red - a world about to dawn!
Black - the night that ends at last!
The young adopted son of Valjean. He is very sweet and gentle, instantly taken with the lovely girl, Marius. Having grown up as something of a slave to the Thenardiers, he is no stranger to hard life. However, since living with Valjean, he has grown to be a very handsome man who lives a life of wealth.
Marius writes him a letter just before the battle begins confessing her love for him. Valjean intercepts it, and it is never truly known if he ever receives the letter. After the battle when Marius is recovering in the hospital, he visits her and reaffirms his love for her.
He and Marius soon marry. On their wedding night, he is reunited with his mother for the last time before she dies.
Very sweet and beautiful voice. Very high notes. Most appropriate for a tenor.

In my life
There are so many questions and answers
That somehow seem wrong
In my life
There are times when I catch in the silence
The sigh of a faraway song
And it sings
Of a world that I long to see
Out of reach
Just a whisper away
Waiting for me!
Does he know I'm alive?
Do I know if he's real?
Does he see what I saw?
Does he feel what I feel?
In my life
I'm no longer alone
Now the love in my life
Is so near
Find me now, find me here!
A heart full of love
No fear, no regret
(My name is Marius Pontmercy)
And mine's Cosette
(Cosette, I don't know what to say)
Then make no sound
(I am lost)
I am found!
(A heart full of light)
A night bright as day
(And you must never go away
Cosette, Cosette)
This is a chain we'll never break
(Do I dream?)
I'm awake!
(A heart full of love)
A heart full of you
(A single look and then I knew)
I knew it too
(From today)
Every day
For it isn't a dream
Not a dream after all.
Madame Thenardier's equally scheming husband. While his wife tends the inn, he helps her steal everyone blind. He is extremely cruel to Cosette, treating the young boy like a slave. He clearly has no care for him whatsoever. When Valjean comes to claim Cosette, he assists his wife in making a good profit off him. They are later seen at Cosette and Marius's wedding, but Marius punches his wife in the face, showing them that they are no longer wanted. He and his wife just laugh it off and go off to continue robbing from people in their inn.
Very rough and scratchy/screechy voice. Cockney accent. Some belt notes. Most appropriate for a tenor.

That would quite fit the bill
If she hadn't so often been ill
Little dear, cost us dear
Medicines are expensive, M'sieur
Not that we begrudged a sou
It's no more than we Christians must do!
One thing more, one small doubt
There are treacherous people about
No offense, please reflect
Your intentions may not be... Correct?
Now look who's here
The little madam herself!
Pretending once again she's been 'so awfully good',
Better not let me catch you slacking
Better not catch my eye!
Ten rotten francs your mother sends me
What is that going to buy?
Now take that pail
My little 'Mademoiselle'
And go and draw some water from the well!
We should never have taken you in in the first place
How stupid, the things that we do!
Like mother like daughter, the scum of the street.
Eponine, come my dear, Eponine, let me see you
You look very well in that new little blue hat
There's some little girls who know how to behave
And they know what to wear
And I'm saying thank heaven for that.
Still there Cosette?
Your tears will do you no good.
I told you fetch some water from the well in the wood...
A child and fellow revolutionary with the students. She is very bright, witty, and sarcastic. She is closest with Grantaire, who is quite protective of her. While only a child, she is just as brave, if not more so, as the other students as she follows them into battle. When they are nearly out of ammunition, she volunteers to go out amidst the gunfighting and retrieve some. While she manages to provide the students with more gunpowder preserved on the dead bodies littering Paris, she is shot dead while doing so.
Youthful voice. Most appropriate for a mezzo-soprano.

Liar!
Good evening, dear inspector
Lovely evening, my dear.
I know this man, my friends
His name is Inspector Javert
So don't believe a word he says
'Cause none of it's true
This only goes to show
What little people can do!
And little people know
When little people fight
We may look easy pickings
But we've got some bite
So never kick a dog
Because he's just a pup
We'll fight like twenty armies
And we won't give up
So you'd better run for cover
When the pup grows up!
One of, if not the oldest, older students who helps organize the revolution. She is very close with Gavroche and thinks of her as a little sister or maybe even a daughter. She has the reputation amongst the students as always drinking brandy which tends to make her overconfident at times.
She is distraught beyond repair when Gavroche is killed in front of them by the French soldiers. Standing their ground, she joins the other students in death during the final battle.

*Sing Red and Black*
(Gavroche is shot and killed; heartwrenching and agonizing) NOOO!!!
Only appearing for one song, the Factory Boy is the main culprit in getting Fantine fired from the factory. He pulls out a letter that details Fantine having an illegitimate son and cruelly shows it to the workers and the forewoman, clearly proud of himself for exposing his fellow worker. This results in the forewoman firing Fantine.
If cast for this role, you will sing for other extras and minor characters as well.
Best fit for a tenor.
*Please tell me what your vocal range is and any vocal training you may have*
And what have we here, little innocent sister?
Come on Fantine, let's have all the news!
Dear Fantine you must send us more money
Your child needs a doctor
There's no time to lose
At the end of the day she's the one who began it
There's a kid that she's hiding in some little town
There's a man she has to pay
You can guess how she picks up the extra
You can bet she's earning her keep sleeping around
And the boss wouldn't like it!

Will you join in our crusade?
Who will be strong and stand with me?
Somewhere beyond the barricade
Is there a world you long to see?
Do you hear the people sing?
Say, do you hear the distant drums?
It is the future that they bring
When tomorrow comes!

Old men, young men, take 'em as they come
Harbor rats and alley cats and every type of scum
Poor men, rich men, leaders of the land
See them with their trousers off they're never quite as grand
All it takes is money in your hand!
Lovely ladies
Going for a song
Got a lot of callers
But they never stay for long
Will you join in our crusade?
Who will be strong and stand with me?
