Project LitFoD is a comedy horror game about a comedian trapped in a realm between life and death. We need a collection of talented folks to give voices to our collection of characters, from normal humans in the British comedy scene to a disgusting living puppet.
This is an exciting debut title for new indie game studio, Witcraft Productions. We are currently pre-funding and the entire team are volunteering... for now. We would love to pay voice actors and musicians post release or following a successful crowdfunding campaign - this can be discussed during or post interviews.
We are a team made up of developers and artists who would be considered junior or entry level, so we welcome new and undiscovered talent to apply.
What to expect:
The first stage is recording samples of your lines, preferably in AABB format.
If we like what we hear, we'll arrange a quick call, with Creative Director David Mincer, to get to know you a bit more and see how you take directions.
If chosen for the part, we will have recording sessions over Discord or Google Meet. You will be expected to record the lines on your end and send them over to us to edit. Professional equipment is not a must, we're going for a rough soundscape.
This is likely a 16 or 18 rated game, so applicants should be comfortable with language and violence.

Performs on stage with a confident deadpan persona.
Privileged and elitist position masked by disarming comedy.
From an early age, he was confronted with death, an experience that seeded a lasting fear of the unknown - especially when they come face-to-face with death once again.
Taught not to take his emotions seriously, so will try to find comedy in their pain.
Spent the later years of his life feeling stuck between a life they cannot bear to live and a death he is too afraid to face.
Performers should be comfortable screaming during recordings.
[Performing on stage] My full name is Richard Head. Because my parents thought: “Yeah, Dick Head is a good name. He won’t get bullied for that one.” Joke’s on them, they had to pay for the therapy.
[Emotionally broken, memories slowly returning] I have always hated my fucking life, but I was also scared of dying. On that day, for just one moment, I wasn’t scared of dying anymore.
[Panicked] No no no no no [Cut off by something being shoved down your throat]

Male, goofy, but sinister.
Disgusting, monster voice.
The kind of voice that works on unsettling or funny lines of dialogue.
What we see is a puppet, we do not know his true form - it sounds like an evil presence putting on a silly voice.
[Trying to give scary first impression] Ha Ha! Quiver in fear at my presence. [Disappointed, given up on threatening tone] Oh, that’s new. Not quite as terrifying as I thought.
[Mocking, disgusted with the player] I would like to see you justify this. Justify how this is actually the truest form of comedy. “It’s about subverting the social order and breaking boundaries.” Bullshit!
[Improvise an insult to the player while they are idling, not moving their character]

Gives off a mentor energy that hides the fact he is going through a midlife/existential crisis.
[Playing it cool, not giving too much away] It’s got potential. Comedians don’t jump out the womb and bang out immaculate tight fives, unfortunately. But, I see a good future for you.
[Laughing, warm] Oh yeah, Dick Head. Ha! Of course. I’m Arnold.
[Building/hyping up the value of the knowledge about to be revealed] Now, this is going to change the way you think about comedy for the rest of your life. This one bit of knowledge separates the amateurs, who spend the rest of their lives busking their arses in pubs and comedy clubs for chump change, from the true legends. Are you ready to hear this?

[Mysterious] Wouldn’t you like to know. [Long pause before returning to formal] But, seriously, I do not know. That is outside my responsibility.

The main character’s childhood best friend.
He has been through grief which is still sensitive.
Maybe he is trying to make a more positive future for himself, or he struggles to open up to friends.
[Mocking while somewhat defensive] Dude, I don’t claim to do any better. You’re the one whose always “I’m such a pro” all the time.
[Opening up but awkward about it] Don’t get me wrong, therapy is weird. My therapist is a massive fan of Freud.

Wannabe comedian
Has an excitable and anxious energy spoken with a camp, middle-class accent.
Only required for a standup monologue for one scene - we have a pre-written routine, but are open to adjusting your lines if you have your own material that suits the character.
[Nervous, first time doing stand-up] Oh, wow. Let’s do this. Hi, my name’s Remember that name because, where I’m going, you’re actually never going to hear about me again.
I haven’t yet come out to them about… I’m not sure how they’d react to hearing that I’m… Left-wing. My partner is a girl by the way. I know, you’re as shocked as my parents were.

The human embodiment of a LinkedIn post or a contestant on the Apprentice.
This is someone who lived their life around the hustler mindset.
I have died. This is what dying has taught me about B2B marketing.
When you’re a rotting cadaver, you have nothing left to hide. No filters. No skin in the game. No skin. Just honesty - and the maggots performing agile sprint management on my organs.

[Pastor giving a sermon] Moments like this may bring lots of questions, but the Lord reminds us that the pain we feel is eternal… I mean temporary. Well, depends if you're atheist.
[Manager interviewing a candidate] We only have one opening available and a failed drop out with no other prospects and so desperate they can be easily exploited… is exactly who we’re looking for.
[Belittling Teacher] No, no. You must have had a reason for being late and disrupting us. It must be important. Why don’t you come up here and share with us?
Different roles available. You do not need to be a child to apply as long as you can do a childlike voice that will fit with the tone of the scene.
[Calling someone out] You're late everyday.

Seeking a musician to work on a soundtrack that combines comedy and horror, with some tracks leaning more towards one tone while others blend together. Some tracks will need to loop, some need to fit a time restraint.
Singing is a bonus.
