Welcome back to another one of my audio drama projects!
This is a much shorter story than my previous projects (this one is 12k words), but that won't make it any less fun to work on!
SUMMARY:
Approximately eleven years after the events of the 2016 film, Mowgli saves a young woman from the village named Nira after she accidentally stumbles into Kaa's feeding grounds. While initially afraid of him, Nira realizes that this man is the one her people call the "Protector". Mowgli begins to escort her back home, and along the way, he opens her eyes to the beauty of the jungle and introduces her to several of his jungle friends. Despite the two of them bickering constantly, Nira finds herself drawn to Mowgli and his way of life. The more time she spends with him, the harder she knows it will be to say good-bye to him.
Once Nira returns to the village, she offers for Mowgli to stay with them, but he refuses because they both know that it would never feel like home to him. Nira gives him her necklace for him to remember her by, and they finally part.
Two years later, Nira tells a group of children the story of her and Mowgli. She howls like a wolf, just like Mowgli showed her, and in the distance, they can hear a pack of wolves and one human howling back. Nira tells the kids that it's how they still communicate and it's how she knows that he's still okay.
DETAILS:
1. I generally give about one month to record lines, but I've never been TOO strict because I understand real life has to come first. However, I also won't wait around forever and will recast if you prove to be unreliable.
2. Please give me emotion and feeling in your audition! I have always leaned more towards voice actors who exhibit true passion in their voice.

Wow, I am amazed by just how many people sent in such wonderful auditions for this project. This is the 31st project I am creating and I have never had such an incredible reception! I listened to each and every single audition as they came in and listened to them again as I went to work on casting. After many, many hours of listening to auditions over and over and over again, I now have a finalized cast list along with a list of understudies for each part!

First of all, let me take a moment to thank all of the many people who have auditioned for this project. I had no idea that I was going to receive as many auditions as I have and I'm so honored that so many of you have had interest in my project and the story. I am so excited for the moment I will be able to begin casting. I am extending the deadline for two more weeks to allow a few more people to audition and to give me time to wrap up pre-production needs. Rest assured that this will be the only time the deadline will be extended. In two weeks, I will begin the casting process.

Voice Actor
The narrator of the story. Because this role carries much of the project, your voice should be smooth and easy on the ears. It is your job to keep readers listening, so give life to the words. Add dramatics when describing an intense scene or comedics when recording an amusing scene. Do not sound monotone, but add many varying levels. I do NOT want it to sound incredibly formal. Tell me a story.
Because there are so many male roles in the story, I am looking for a female narrator.
The snake’s eyes began changing colors, from yellow to green to blue and then back again. Nira blinked furiously as she suddenly felt very dizzy. She tried to look away, the warnings from the elders coming to her again, but the colors pulled her in deeper and deeper and the rest of the world seemed to melt away. A warmth spread over her as she stared at the beautiful colors. She felt so safe.
Time never mattered much in the jungle, so Mowgli didn’t know how long the two of them lay on the bank of the river, but he did know that he could’ve stayed there watching Nira sleep forever.
Nira shook her head, wondering if she had really just had a conversation with a bear and a panther or if she really had died. Maybe Mowgli was ushering her into the afterlife.
Voice Actor
A now 21-year-old man who was raised by wolves in the Indian jungle. His defeat of Shere Khan when he was a child led the village to refer to him as The Protector. He saves Nira from nearly being devoured by Kaa and then leads her back to the village. For the first time, he is able to spend time with someone like him and show her his world. While he speaks very bluntly and enjoys teasing Nira, spending time with her also leads him to develop feelings for her.
Voice: mature, playful
After everything you’ve done in the last two days, you’re afraid of a vine?
Look, Nira, your people call me The Protector for a reason. I won’t let anything happen to you.
Just put your hands to your mouth like this, and then use your voice like this. *howls like a wolf*

A young woman from the village in the Indian jungle who accidentally stumbles into Kaa's feeding grounds when a monkey steals her necklace and is almost devoured when she falls prey to Kaa's eyes and words. Mowgli saves her and then leads her back to her home. Along the way, she comes to see the jungle and herself in a different light. Though she constantly bickers with Mowgli, she is also drawn to him and develops feelings for him.
Voice: mature, innocent, out-of-her-element
(trying to keep up with Mowgli) Could you slow down a little? It’s not going to do either of us any good if I lose you.
(when Mowgli tells her they need to stay the night in a cave; incredibly embarrassed) Um…it’s not good for a man and a woman to sleep in the same place if they’re not… *clears her throat* …mating.
There is a way we can still communicate. All right, everyone needs to be really quiet, okay? Listen to this. *howls like a wolf*

Known as The Great Snake in the village, Kaa can use her voice and color-changing eyes to lure her prey into a false sense of security before devouring them. She allows Nira to see her deceased mother again before nearly eating her, but Mowgli defeats her before she succeeds. She later appears in Nira's nightmare.
Voice: sultry, seductive

Oh, relax, sweetie. It’s okay. I won’t hurt you.
Just relax...and trust...in me.
(angry) That’s twice now I’ve lost a meal, and a human one at that.

One of Mowgli's childhood friends, Gray is now a very hyperactive adult wolf. He quickly takes a shine to Nira and happily protects her when they are attacked by a pack of dholes.
Voice: hyper, excited
(after defeating a pack of dholes) They would’ve made us fight them anyway. Protecting you just gave us a really good reason to win!
All of the humans are under our protection, not just Mowgli. We won’t let you hurt any of them. It’s against Jungle Law.
Voice Actor
One of Mowgli's protectors, Bagheera is a black panther who stumbles upon Mowgli and Nira while they are returning to the village. He is the first animal Nira meets (excluding Kaa) and he accompanies them for a bit of the way to explain to Nira more about who Mowgli is and how'd he come to live in the jungle.
Voice: British accent, formal, proper

(proud) Mowgli used the tricks that only a human who has learned the ways of the jungle could use.
You cannot fault someone else for not knowing the ways of the jungle as you do when you have grown up here and she hasn’t.

One of Mowgli's protectors, Baloo is a large sloth bear and the second animal Nira meets. He quickly sees that Mowgli and Nira like each other (despite their constant bickering), and pulls Bagheera away from them so the two of them can be alone

(out of breath) Whoo…man, I think that was enough exercise for the next year…or five.
She’s pretty. Well, by humans standards, I guess.

The leader of the pack of dholes who attack Nira, Mowgli, and the wolves. He is quickly defeated by Gray when he attempts to eat Nira.
Voice: arrogant, selfish
Our law is that we take what we want and we eat what we want. And we’d like a taste of the human.
Oh, it's a her? Well, that's even better.
Voice Actor
Three wolves who accompany Gray and meet Nira. They believe Nira to be a threat at first, but once Mowgli convinces them she's a friend, they eagerly invite her to race with them. All of them work together to protect Nira when they are attacked by a pack of dholes
Men and women may audition to be a wolf.
Voice: playful, excited
Mowgli, come on, let's race! I bet we'll beat you this time!
Wait, you mean Bagheera was telling the truth? You really do have another human with you? We thought he was joking.
Voice Actor
A group of children to whom Nira tells the story of her and Mowgli's journey to the village. They are all enraptured by it, and howl like a wolf to show respect for their protector.
Because these lines are spoken by young children, only women will be considered.
(sighs) That's so romantic!
I liked the part where he beat up the snake!
