Hello everyone! My name is ThePuzzler13, or just Puzzler for short, and I am a member of the Blades of Despair team! We are currently looking into VAs who are willing to lend their voice for this project! This fangan is based on the written version of the same name, and we look forward to how everything plays out on screen!


Overview:

The events of Blades of Despair take place in the prestigious Seiko Academy. This institute’s students are each designated Ultimate Talents and are guaranteed success in their future endeavours. Orito Asaji is one such student who has been invited to attend the one hundredth class, with her talent of Ultimate Extreme Luck, a talent which randomly causes great fortune and misfortune. But after meeting her classmates, they are thrown into a deadly killing game where only one may survive.

Smappy, Mercurui, Faf, and KawaiiGC: Our beta readers/extra writers! We make sure the script is in tip-top shape (and add a few suggests here and there) before it gets integrated with the VN!

Puzzler (myself): I am also a beta reader for this fangan, but I am also managing the new talent coming to join the Blades of Despair team!


Requirements for being a VA:

-All of our work is on Discord, so we expect that all applicants have a discord account.

-While we don't expect everyone to have a state-of-the-art microphone and studio, we expect that the audio we receive has little to no static, interference, or peaking, and that the voice is clear.

-Please do not spam submissions. While applicants are allowed to apply to more than one role, ultimately an applicant will only be assigned to one character.

-If we discover that AI was used for any of the submissions, you will be automatically disqualified from the role/blacklisted.

    As of right now, on September 26th, 2023 at 11:35 PM EST, the Casting Call for Blades of Despair is now closed.

    Over this past month, I have met some wonderful people via this casting call, and I cannot thank everyone enough for supporting this project. Whether or not you are cast, we thank you for choosing to throw your hat in the ring and giving an audition!

For Ori, she should have a medium-ish voice. Ori is an intelligent person, but is still approachable and kind. Due to her role as the protagonist in the story, she should be able to display a wide range of emotions.

A confident and ambitious young man, Miyagawa is the perfect candidate for Seiko Academy. His talent allows him to evaluate not only pricey antiques, but also the behaviours and speech patterns of people. Although his eye for detail is infallible, Miyagawa is a hopeless conversationalist and often comes across as standoffish or rude. Deep down, though, all he desires is a friend.

For Miyagawa, we are looking for a medium to medium low male voice. He should have an air of pompousness around him, who is quickly irritated by jabs at his ego. He is also quite manipulative and can easily read and evaluative individuals as well. However, the voice should also display a level of sincerity and desire for connection.

Nishikiri's twin sister. Saza is a playful soul who loves the simple things in life, such as cheese, cheese, and... cheese? If the food in front of her isn't covered in at least three layers of the stuff, she'll turn her nose up. Saza is impulsive and often jumps to conclusions too hastily. A great friend, but often tries to diffuse tension with cheese rather than an actual solution.

For Saza, we are looking for a medium to medium-high girl voice. Saza is much more talkative than her older brother, and generally tries to insert cheese puns into anything she says. That being said, Saza can be serious if needed, and is usually quick to her emotions instead of logical thinking.

Saza's twin brother, prefers to be called NIshi. Due to his height and abundant ink, people are initially intimidated by Nishi's appearance. However, they soon learn that he is the definition of a gentle giant. He is fiercely protective of his sister and loyal to his friends. It is very difficult to begrudge the Ultimate Tattoo Artist, even when you find yourself on the receiving end of one of his brotherly rants.

The calmer half of the Yasu duo, Nishi has a medium-low male voice. He has a very gentile voice, and often finds himself embarrassed or annoyed by his sister's antics. He thinks much more logically than his sister as well, though he should display a wide range of emotions.

Always seen with her signature hairpin, Morihei is a highly intelligent and serious woman. She is surprisingly direct and unfazed by most things. Her sincerity rarely comes from a malicious intent, and she makes for very pleasant company when you get on her good side. Unfortunately, it is difficult for many to get over her... obsession with insects.

Morihei has a medium female voice (there is a bit of wiggleroom here). She is much more direct with what she thinks than most other people, and is very logical in her words. That being said, whenever the topic of beetles comes up, she often explains beetle facts without caring what others think.

For Ouji, we are looking for a medium to medium-low female voice. Her flirtatious aura makes her slightly intimidating at first, but is overall a kind friend. A slight African accent is welcomed.
