NEW ROLE NEEDED- Sophia for Honor Bound Book Adaptation To Audiodrama

Project Overview

(FYI I DO CAST PPL FROM CCC, I HAVE NO IDEA WHY IT DEFAULTS TO "CAST OFFSITE ACTOR" So annoying!) 


I AM ONLY CASTING FOR SOPHIA CURRENTLY! PLEASE DO NOT AUDITION FOR ANY ROLES THAT HAVE BEEN CLOSED. 

Honor Bound is a series of books I have written, You can see them here on Amazon I have gotten a chance to adapt them into an audiodrama. For now there will be two eps made to see how the show does, but ideally the whole series will be adapted.


There are two roles for American style accents (don't make any Southern accent too heavy though If you choose to use one) and two Japanese accent roles and one Korean accent role.

THIS HAS SERIOUS POTENTIAL TO BE A LONG TERM PROJECT. SO PLEASE BE WILLING TO COMMIT TO YOUR CHARACTER. PAYMENT IS $25-50 PER EP DEPENDING ON HOW MUCH YOU ARE IN THAT EP.


  I need clean sounding mics, no reverb, no background noise, no hissing etc. Make the quality be the same for your audition as it would be for your final take sound wise.  If you're recording is not clean you will not be chosen. I need these specific accents so if you cannot do them, please do not audition.  


There will be live direction and an expectation of lines being turned in promptly as if this does go long term eps need to air on a set schedule. Please bear that in mind. I will be doing callbacks after I go through all the auditions. Thank you for auditioning and I cannot wait to hear your voices!


The series description is thus: Dani never meant to hurt anyone. She'd just been trying to help her Dad and her best friend Deb and make the best out of the talents this weird power gave her. She never expected to be kidnapped, or that they would take her brother too.


Min-Ji was never given a choice, she'd been forced to hurt people from the moment she first used her power. Abused, sold and pushed beyond pain into a spiral of self loathing and depression, she'd decided to choose death instead of being a weapon.


John and Clara Masumoto lived a charmed life, successful, loved and with some extra perks that being twins gave them, they also knew they'd been lucky to have escaped the suffering they'd seen others with gifts go through. When faced with tragedy they chose to do whatever they could to share their luck with others whose differences made them be seen as products, not people.


Cesco loved freedom; freedom of movement, freedom from responsibility. Training for years in parkour and martial arts he'd never faced evil, even though he'd been training to fight it all his life. When John and Clara gave him a choice to save others he had to choose between keeping the freedom he loved or helping free others.


Jessie, born an empath, her entire life she'd been forced to reconcile the conflict of what people said they felt versus what they really felt. In doing so she'd had to learn how to protect herself from the daily lies people say. Then a betrayal by a friend pushed her too far, her empathy became a weapon, and a fatal one. Ever since, she'd been searching for a way to make amends for the lives she took, a way to heal instead of harm.


Six people from completely different worlds find themselves coming together to stop a sinister ring of human trafficking that preys on those whose gifts are seen as products to be sold to the highest bidder.Filled with action, found family, emotional healing and some fight scenes that I can promise you've never seen, Honor Bound delivers both a heart pounding ride and heart wrenching character growth. (In a good way. No Game of Thrones multiple deaths here. Promise)

    My main feedback for ppl auditioning, more emotions and more subtlety in your performances. I provided a lot of context cues in the descriptions so it is up to you to make good use of them. Also, make sure multiple takes sound different. Consider each take a separate audition and a way to showcase your range. If you do two takes, provide two different takes on the characters. You never know which take will get someone's attention. Good luck!

  • Bit of feedback

    I am loving all the auditions! You all are so talented! Just want to give a bit of a feedback, check for context cues for the physical state of characters. There could be some interesting ways to layer things into your takes.

    Hello all! I am BLOWN AWAY at the amount of auditions already! THANK YOU SO MUCH for taking the time! I just want to say that I was not expecting this level of response so..WOW! I also want to add, just because I know how we creatives are, if you're a newer VA and see some of the resumes from other actors auditioning...IGNORE THEM AND AUDITION ANYWAY! Please do not let negative thoughts or imposter syndrome stop you. Sophia is the personal assistant to John and Clara, she is a no nonsense, highly respected and very professional woman who takes no crap and knows the fashion world inside and out.  The voice actor for this role must be able to convey a high degree of professionalism through their performance, along with varying levels of subtle humor and compassion. This is a recurring role in a long term project. Pay is $10 per ep Sophia is in as this is a side character but she is an important one. 

CONTEXT FOR AUDITION LINES: PLEASE READ BEFORE AUDITIONING TO HELP YOUR PERFORMANCE.

First line : . She’s helping Cesco find clothes to wear to the charity fashion show the twins put on which is a huge event.  It’s a long running scenario between Cesco and Sophia as to how much Cesco hates clothes that aren’t sweats or comfy so this is sort of that tone. Sophia is deadly serious about getting him to look good but she also knows how he is.  The first part is  to be delivered in a tone like you see TV shows like Next in Fashion etc when they are critiquing the fit of the clothes.

The part where she starts listing off designer names, go for more imperious. Cesco isn't all that impressed with designer clothes so she's sort of laying it on the line for him.;) 

Second line: Sort of exasperated as well as imperious but with a side of snarky scolding

Third line: She is talking to John and Clara about their dual lives. This is more compassionate, she's helping them work through a recent tragedy and trying to get them to see the big picture.

What you have on costs more than what you have in your entire closet. You will not wear black tennis shoes with this.”

  • “Cesco? Cesco! I need to see that suit on you. You take longer than most women trying on clothes. Perhaps wearing all those hideous sweatpants you forget what zippers and buttons are?”

  • “Yes, and that’s just one of your accounts, multiply those posts by four or five times that amount, I saw the news articles, about the kidnapped children being saved. You care so much, you always have, but you cannot do ‘that’ and this. If you were no longer able to work, you could not continue to support your charity which helps thousands of people every day. You’re still so young, if the worse were to happen, and we lost you, it wouldn’t just be a loss to the world of fashion, but to the world at large. I know how much you’re hurting, the exhaustion grief brings, how things feel exponentially harder to do now, but we’re all here for you. I’m here for you and I will help you get through this, I promise, but please, think about what I’ve said.

I need a female VA with a Korean accent. Min-Ji is 18, she has had a very rough life. I need a VA who can convey realistic emotions based in a life time of trauma which has created a deep sense of resolve while also being able to convey anger. 

The character backstory is as such - short version. Min-Ji controls fire, she was abused/owned by a criminal type that forced her to kill his rivals. She finally masters her ability well enough that she can withstand all the punishments and refuse to do his bidding. She is rescued by Cesco, and has spent a year learning how to control her powers, deal with her past etc. The scenes in the book are often emotional but there is no triggers regarding her trauma per se but she is Korean so I need the accent to be true to the character in the book. Min-JI keeps her emotions fairly well on a leash as her emotions fuel her fire ability. Anger is the one that tends to sneak through the most. Think about characters that have a large amount of emotional armor due to surviving a lot of trauma. Pull back from any anime/gacha vibes and dive more into realism. Thanks!

  • “Burn you bastard.” (cold tone for this line. She is attacking someone who is attacking Cesco)

  • “This isn't right, you shouldn't be scarred like this, shouldn't be angry.” She was close to tears. “I'm the true monster here, not you or John or anyone else. After I killed the man that was standing over you, I burned another one to death and I'd do it again. That's my role, not yours. Please don't change, please.” She was willing to sacrifice everything for these people who had saved her, she didn't want them to have to suffer.

Clara is John's twin sister. Both John and Clara need to have a light Japanese accent (although their dad was Scottish so if you can figure out how to mesh a Japanese and Scottish accent somehow more points to you lol)  John and Clara can speak mind to mind, feel each other's moods and send objects back and forth to each other. Clara is the calmer of the two, she's often the one able to center the two of them when things get out of control. John and Clara are successful fashion models who have also put together this group of people to rescue kids with abilities from being  sold on the black market. They are the leaders of the group. Voice actors for this role need to be able to convey both confidence, fear of failure, anger and compassion.

Cesco is fine, Dani will work through her issues just like Min-Ji did. Who knows? A year from now she may be back with her family. We have work to do and we can't do it if you get stuck in this spiral.”

Akinori is a former Japanese Police Officer who is both mentor and adopted aunt/guardian of John and Clara. She both guides them and the group as well as providing logistical details that they need. She is authoritative, caring, strict, compassionate and demanding out of her desire to protect John and Clara.  (There's no pic as I haven't found a good one for her yet and hadn't paid for a portrait. She is a main character though. :) ) 


The VA for Akinori MUST have a JAPANESE ACCENT

  • “You had mentioned that Dani had made drugs to help her friend, I don’t think it is a coincidence that her best friend disappears days before she does. When Dani gets home and finds out that Deborah is missing she is going to be devastated. I tried to trace some of the activities related to this group of drug dealers and as usual with drug dealers they have their hand in prostitution. It is possible that if Deborah is not dead she could be being forced into prostitution. Dani’s family and anyone around her will be in danger when she finds this out if her emotional instability increases. Jessie told me about the incident with the bedspring and the sheets. I believe we need to find Deborah and help Dani. She’s too powerful for us to let her continue without guidance.”

  • Are you complete fools? What would have happened if this Dr. Rothstein had said no? How does winding up in jail or dead save anyone? There is a reason we have always planned things out in advance. We don't want to attract attention to your gifts! If she cannot heal him we are looking at months of physical therapy for him and who says he will be able to perform as well as he has in the past not to mention the scarring on his face. That will make it much harder to remain inconspicuous. I am disappointed in all of you. You're not ready for this type of work. You should have created some sort of incident that would have attracted the police and let them handle it. This is not your job yet. You let your emotions get the better of you. I have warned you over and over about that.

Dani is 16: She goes through a massive character arc in this story as she has to adapt to all the changes in her life and secrets she learns. Not only does she deal with trauma, she has to choose between staying with her family or leaving to protect them and start a whole new path in life. The VA who plays Dani must be able to convey all the shifts in these emotions, subtle and intense that she goes through.

I don’t know how to fight so they ripped it out of my hands and then made me watch as they beat Chad up. That’s when I tried to kill one of them by turning them into stone. Humans have all the components in them to make rock. Then they broke Chad’s legs. I watched on a monitor. They wouldn’t let us near each other. I heard him screaming when they did it. Did I make a knife in my sleep?”

  • “Chad! No! Please be alive! Please!! “Oh god, I’m so sorry, this is all my fault! “Chad. I'm going to fix you, fix this. I’ve got to be able to somehow.”

  • “I have to try to see my Dad, it’s my fault that Chad and I got taken. If nothing else, I have to apologize. If he wants to kick me out or sees me as a freak then I’ll have to deal with that. Maybe, if I can convince him I won’t do anything then he’ll forgive me
