Hello, it's me, Cc! I create YouTube videos on the franchise Hollow Knight, and I'm looking for voice actors to dub characters from the game for my next upload. Doesn't matter if you're new to voice acting or you're a professional, I'll be considering all auditions. I'm offering no paid positions, but you & your social media will be credited in both the description and end of video credits. The 'explainer video' shows each character you can audition for. Many "lore tablets", aka walls of text, are found throughout the game of Hollow Knight. The ones I wish you to read may have been created by a character called the "Pale King". In truth, we're unsure if he directly wrote them, so you are allowed to audition for this role even if you do not have a male voice. Depending how much I like your audition, I may have you voice other lore tablets/item descriptions the Pale King definitely did not write (about 50 words worth of lines).
If you wish to audition as the Pale King, there is no audio examples of his voice, but it should be of a king who has the morality of "the ends justify the means". His main catchphrase is "No cost too great", and he directly sacrificed billions of his own children to stop an infection that was destroying his kingdom (the kingdom of Hallownest). He isn't proud nor regretful of his sins, he simply feels he did what had to be done for the betterment of the kingdom.
“Higher beings, these words are for you alone. Your great strength marks you amongst us. Focus your soul and you shall achieve feats of which others can only dream.”
“Within our lands do not hide your true form. Let all bask in your majesty, for only this kingdom could produce ones such as you.” (slight emphasis on "true form")
“The Wyrm becomes beacon, minds expanded, to yield, to devote.”
"Cooped up within a giant sphere at the edge of Deepnest, this strange bug meticulously sculpts masks of all shapes and sizes, as witnessed in his workshop. Seemingly content with this endless work, Mask Maker happily strikes conversation, providing us with valuable insights on his craft."
Not much is known about Mask Maker besides their dialogue, so not much can be gleaned personality wise besides what is presented in the reference video. When [MASK IS ON], Mask Maker is multitasking, talking to the player & creating masks. When [MASK IS OFF], Mask Maker will pause working when talking, bringing full attention to the player. I will provide muffle/other audio effects in post production. Please try to match your voice and pacing to Mask Maker's voice as seen in the reference video at the top of the project page (the language is made up, its called "Hollow Speak").
[MASK IS ON] “Is it mask or face upon the creature? In Hallownest, a difficult thing it can be to decipher. A wonderful thing to have, a face. Not a thing with which we all are blessed. For this kingdom's faceless, I shall provide.”
[MASK IS ON] “A mask! A face! Does it need one? Does it not? To define. To focus. To exist.”
[MASK IS OFF] “To change a face; to conceal it fully within another... A powerful protection that is, but one with sad consequence. The original mind is destroyed, though those of striking will may still retain a sliver of that concealed self.”
[MASK IS OFF] “Truth in Hallownest is always buried deep. How many layers will it pry through?”
[MASK IS OFF] “Faces I grant to all who'd request. Not task for I, but aid, gift to a world deserving.”
"Quirrel is an inquisitive, up-beat explorer, fascinated by the myths of Hallownest for reasons he cannot explain. While he remains a simple observer, he is wise of the land's dangers and has some skill with a nail."
Quirrel throughout most of the game is [perfectly healthy]. Little does he know he's lived over two lifetimes, and the mask he wears acts as a life support system, keeping him athletic and spry (he does not know his mask is doing this, however). When he gives away his mask to its original owner, the life support system is no longer helping him, and [his body suddenly starts failing] (legs buckle, voice rasps). He then used his remaining energy to travel to the Blue Lake, the final sight he wished to witness before leaving Hallownest. Here, the player and Quirrel spend their last moments together, and Quirrel is [close to passing away]. At this point, Quirrel is at peace, accepts his fate, and is thankful of the circumstance he was given.

Please do your best to match your voice to the voice and pacing of Quirrel's, and to make sure each line matches the correct circumstance they're said in, as seen in the reference video at the top of the project page.

[His body suddenly started failing] "Do not hesitate. The choice to reform was hers, not mine. She knows what you would do and seems to welcome it."
