Heroes of Ashihara Village - Comic Dub - Prologue and Chapter 1

Heroes of Ashihara Village - Comic Dub - Prologue and Chapter 1

Project Overview

Introduction

Formerly an Animal Crossing fancomic, Heroes of Ashihara Village is a project that I have been working on for around six years, and as of now chapter 1 is nearing completion.

I've always wanted to have voice actors for these guys, so I've decided to try a comic dub! The prologue and Chapter 1 combined are set to be 22 pages long.

Additional Useful Information

To find out more about certain characters, you can visit:

HOAV Official Website: https://www.hoav.co.uk

HOAV Wiki: https://hoav.fandom.com

The Comic: hoav.thecomicseries.com

When applying for this project, please consider:
  • There will be profanities and mild violence in this comic! In terms of violence, nothing too drastic and gory, but blood will be shown.

  • Although I currently am only doing chapter 1, I would love if you were open to possibly dubbing future chapters! It won't be the last time we see many of these characters.

  • Adding to the above, if applying for any of the Heroes or Primordials, these characters are central to the story and will have a lot of lines in future chapters.

  • This call will be reopened when chapter 2 is finished and new characters are introduced.

  • Some characters have had their names and designs changed slightly in order to differentiate HOAV from its original Animal Crossing inspiration. When viewing voice claim videos, please be aware of this as these videos will have been made before changes were finalised.

Tengan (formerly Tortimer)

Tengan is the elderly, self-absorbed mayor of Ashihara Village. He is haunted by many demons from his past, and is hiding more from the villagers of Ashihara than he lets on. He is egotistical and proud, but is prone to breaking down when faced with the truth or the consequences of his actions.

Voice: Please refer to this video, under Tortimer.

  • Today I will be announcing a new project!

  • And what is that supposed to mean?

Voice Actor
Clara (formerly Isabelle)

Unpaid

Lead role! Clara is the main protagonist of HOAV, and is one of the Heroes as the Lightning Heroine.

Ever since she can remember, Clara has felt lost in life, as if she were a stick being washed down a river. She tends to let herself get swept along with the flow of her life and feels clueless as to how she can get a hold of it. She still doesn't know what she wants to do in the long-term, and feels she doesn't know who she really is as a person. She tries her best to be polite and kind however.

Voice: Clara should have an American accent. Please refer to her voice claim in this video (under Isabelle)!

  • *inquisitive, friendly* What do you think Tengan's gonna talk about at the meeting?

  • Shouldn't the mayor be out by now...?

  • *nervous, unsure* ...Guys? Was it supposed to rain today?

Tom

Lead role! Tom is one of the eight Heroes, the Earth Hero.

Tom is a lovable, friendly character. Like others of his species, he is hardworking and reliable, and takes his duties seriously. He strives to be honest, and tries to help his friends in any way he can. He's usually one of the first to extend a welcoming paw to Ashihara Village's new residents. He is, however, rather simple minded, but is very down to earth.

Voice: Please refer to either of his voice claims in this video! British accent.

Voice description:

  • *happy* Guess who I finally managed to convince!

  • Mr. Mayor is the beating heart of the village. I'll do whatever it takes to save him, otherwise I'm no honourable tanuki.

  • *nervous, unsure* That's unlike him. Normally he's out early.

Rubicante/Redd

Lead role! One of the Heroes, the Fire Hero.

Rubicante is almost perpetually angry. An introvert, he prefers to keep to himself, and guards his thoughts and emotions intensely. Due to his experiences growing up, Rubicante's outlook on life is cynical. Many find it hard to approach him because of this, as well as his violent tendencies. When riled up, he finds it difficult to keep his temper under control and it is hard to stop him once he is fixated on something.

However, to those he lets his guard down around, Rubicante is fiercely loyal and protective and would die to keep his loved ones safe. He has a strong sense of duty and justice.

Notes: Rubicante does a lot of growling! He acts more feral compared to his peers.

Voice: Please refer to his voice claim in this video! Another voice that sounds close is Derek Stephen Prince's performance as Fuyuhiko in Danganronpa.

Voice description:
  • male adult
  • american
  • *incredulous, tired* Why do we have to be so close to that crusty old fuck?

  • *furious* You dare touch me again and I swear I'll-

  • After this you won't see me for the rest of the day.

Sophie (formerly Sable)

Lead role! Sophie is a member of the Heroes as the Soul Heroine.

Gentle, shy and sweet, Sophie is a nice presence to be around. Due to her introverted nature, she does not talk much to people she doesn't know, but cares for them all the same. She is deeply compassionate, feeling others' pain as if it were her own. Her sensitivity can often be a burden however, and she internally second-guesses everything other animals say. She has an anxious disposition and prefers to stay with what, and who, she knows instead of trying new things and meeting new people. Sophie has a deep fear of change and abandonment, caused by her parents' deaths.

Voice: Please refer to her voice claim in this video! Polite, young, female British accent.

Voice description:

  • female young adult
  • *quiet* ...Do you think we should check on him?

  • *gentle chiding* Oh, Redd. Come on, it's nice to be outdoors in the sun.

  • *nervous* B-But we're just a few animals...! What can we do?

Louise (formerly Reese)

Lead role! Louise is one of the eight Heroes as the Heart Heroine.

Louise is often described as 'everyone's mother' by the other residents of the village. She runs a spiritual shop on the outskirts of Ashihara, and has a fascination for crystals and anything magical. Although she is kind-hearted and protective of her friends, you'd best not get on her bad side. It's then that she transforms from 'mother' to 'mother bear'.

Voice: Please refer to her voice claim in this video (under Reese)!

  • *thoughtful* ...It's a sign. One I haven't seen before in any of my books.

  • *desperate* Move back! I'll lose the vision!

Cornelius (formerly Blathers)

Lead role! Cornelius is one of the Heroes as the Telepathy Hero.

Working in the archives, Cornelius is the village's renowned source of knowledge. Whilst extremely intelligent, he has a tendency to overshare and go off on a tangent, especially about his favourite subjects, and also has a nervous disposition. Both his brains and his nerves will be tested on the journey.

Voice: Please refer to his voice claim in this video (under Blathers)! Typical British boffin-type character.

Voice description:

  • *recognition* ...I dreamt this. I've been trying to understand it all morning, to no avail.

  • *resolute* We have to go there. The mayor is surely in danger!

  • *terrified* Could the mayor have done this?!

Lead role! The main villain of the series, constantly antagonising the Heroes.

The Darkness is a mysterious, malevolent force that seems hellbent on getting its revenge on Mayor Tengan.

Voice: Anything deep and menacing! Any accent, go wild! Please keep in mind that I will add effects to the Darkness' audio lines such as reverb/echo.

Voice description:

  • *disdainful* So you thought you could hide away here like the coward you are.

  • *angry* Time is up, Tengan!

  • *menacing* In the end, everything comes back to me.

Stormbringer is the Primordial God of Thunder, and the de-facto leader of the rest of the Primordials. He is noble and bold, and can often come off as overly serious. In reality, he just knows he has an important role to uphold and values justice and order strongly.

Voice: Please refer to Chris Hackney as Rauru in this video. I don't mind whether Stormbringer's accent is American or British, as long as it has the general vibe of the one in the video.

Kate is a short purple hedgehog with a snarky disposition and a penchant for perfume and elegance. She is cold, often coming off as apathetic or even standoffish to those who are unfamiliar with her. While she has the capability to be fierce when sufficiently pushed, she is usually able to confront problems calmly with a stern glare.

Voice: Please refer to her voice claim in this video (under Label)!

  • *disdainful* I would literally rather be anywhere else.
