Hellcats Halo

Hellcats Halo

Project Overview

HELLCAT'S HALO

Hellcat's Halo is an original animated supernatural series about identity, family, secrets, and a girl caught between two worlds.

The story takes place in a strange world divided between Hell Cats and Angel Cats. Although the two groups live in the same world, they are separated by years of conflict, fear, and distrust. To most Angel Cats, Hell Cats are dangerous creatures that should never be trusted. To the Hell Cats, the Angels are the ones who destroyed their homes and families.

But what happens when someone belongs to both worlds?

Our story follows Raven, a young Hell Cat who has spent most of her life hiding who she really is.

When Raven was a child, she lived happily with her father, Rook the leader of hell cats, and her mother, Eira. Rook was a loving and playful father who would do anything to protect his family. One ordinary evening, everything changed when Angel Cats suddenly attacked their neighborhood.

Rook stayed behind to help other Hell Cats escape.

Before Raven was taken to safety, her father promised her that he would find her.

He never came home.

Years later, Raven is older and preparing to enter an Angel Cat school. But there's one major problem:

Raven is a Hell Cat.

With the help of her mother, Raven disguises her Hell Cat features and takes on a new identity: Dove, an Angel Cat.

She has one goal:

Don't let anyone find out who she really is.

At school, Raven has to figure out how to survive in a society that has been taught to fear creatures like her. She has to make friends without revealing the truth, deal with classmates who may not accept Hell Cats, and learn how to control the parts of herself she's been forced to hide.

But keeping a secret becomes harder when Raven starts getting closer to the very people she's supposed to stay away from.

As Raven's life becomes more complicated, she begins discovering that the history she's been taught may not tell the whole story.

Who were the Hell Cats really?

Why did the Angel Cats attack them?

What happened to Rook?

And why does Raven seem to have a connection to both sides?

THE TONE

Hellcat's Halo is intended to have a supernatural animated-comedy tone with emotional and dramatic moments.

The series can be funny, chaotic, sarcastic, and occasionally dark, while still having genuine emotional scenes when the story calls for them.

Think:

  • Supernatural fantasy

  • Dark comedy

  • School comedy

  • Mystery

  • Family drama

  • Action

  • Character-driven storytelling

  • Emotional moments

  • Occasional absurd humor

The dialogue will use mild language rather than heavy profanity. Characters might say things like “oh, Satan,” “what the heck,” “dang,” “crap,” or other playful expressions that fit the world.

The goal is for the world to feel fun and chaotic without relying on excessive swearing.

There will also be plenty of room for character humor. Characters can be sarcastic, awkward, dramatic, competitive, silly, or completely chaotic depending on their personalities.

WHAT MAKES THIS PROJECT DIFFERENT?

At its heart, Hellcat's Halo is about a girl who doesn't feel like she belongs anywhere.

Raven isn't simply trying to hide a secret.

She's trying to figure out who she actually is.

She has been raised to hide half of herself, while living among people who might hate her if they knew the truth.

The series will explore themes such as:

Identity — Who are you when everyone expects you to be something else?

Family — How far would you go to protect the people you love?

Prejudice — What happens when people are taught to fear an entire group of people?

Trust — Can Raven trust the people around her with her biggest secret?

Truth — What if the history everyone believes is wrong?

And, of course...

What happens when a Hell Cat accidentally ends up pretending to be an Angel Cat?

We're looking for:

  • Voice actors

  • Character actors

  • Background voices

  • Artists

  • Animators

  • Musicians

  • Sound designers

  • Other creators who may want to contribute

You don't need to be a professional actor or creator to audition.

For voice actors, auditions will include lines designed to show the character's personality and emotional range. Some characters may require comedy, while others may require dramatic or emotional performances.

IMPORTANT NOTE

While the project takes inspiration from the energy of animated supernatural comedies, Hellcat's Halo is its own original story with its own characters, world, mythology, and direction.

This is a passion project being created by SunWish, with the goal of building a fun team of people who want to create something together.

Whether you're an experienced voice actor, someone trying voice acting for the first time, an artist who loves character design, an animator looking for a project, or simply someone who loves making stories...

Raven is a young Hell Cat who has spent most of her life hiding her true identity. After losing her father during an attack when she was a child, Raven and her mother, Eira, were forced to live carefully and quietly.

Now older, Raven has the opportunity to attend an Angel Cat school. To protect herself, she disguises her Hell Cat features and goes by the name Dove.

Raven is kind-hearted and curious, sarcastic too, but she's also nervous around new people. She constantly worries that someone will discover the truth about her. Because she has spent so much time hiding, she sometimes struggles to understand who she really is.

Despite her fears, Raven isn't weak. When someone she cares about is in danger, she can become surprisingly brave and determined just like her father.

Raven's biggest struggle isn't simply keeping her secret.

It's figuring out whether she should continue hiding who she is.

As the story progresses, Raven becomes more confident, develops deep friendships, discovers uncomfortable truths about the conflict between Angels and Hell Cats, and begins questioning everything she was taught about her father's disappearance.

Role assigned to: Scraps_starkitty

Age: Teenager
Species: Angel Cat
Role: Raven's first and closest friend

Luma is bright, energetic, friendly, and almost impossible to keep quiet.

She's the kind of person who can walk into a room where she doesn't know anyone and somehow leave with five new friends. Luma genuinely enjoys meeting people, and she doesn't care much about popularity or social status.

When Raven arrives at school, Luma is one of the first people to approach her.

At first, Raven is nervous around her because she's afraid that getting too close to someone will expose her secret. Luma doesn't understand why Raven seems so nervous, but she doesn't push her.

Instead, she simply gives Raven a reason to relax.

Luma is incredibly loyal. Once she considers someone a friend, she will defend them even when doing so gets her into trouble.

However, her biggest weakness is that she can be impulsive. She sometimes acts before thinking and can accidentally make situations much worse.

Luma also has her own insecurities. Because she is so energetic and cheerful, people sometimes assume she doesn't take anything seriously. In reality, she cares deeply about the people around her.

Her friendship with Raven becomes one of the most important relationships in the series.

The biggest question is what happens when Luma eventually learns that her best friend is actually a Hell Cat.

Sienna is intelligent, calm, and extremely observant.

She notices small details that other people completely overlook. A strange reaction. A nervous expression. A story that doesn't quite make sense.

Sienna isn't cold, though. She simply takes longer to trust people.

Unlike Luma, Sienna doesn't immediately become close with Raven. Their friendship develops gradually.

At first, Sienna thinks Raven is strange.

Not bad.

Just strange.

Raven seems to know things she shouldn't, reacts strangely whenever Hell Cats are mentioned, and seems unusually nervous about people getting too close to her.

Sienna eventually becomes one of Raven's closest friends, but she may also become one of the first people to suspect that Raven isn't telling the whole truth.

Sienna's greatest strength is her intelligence.

Her greatest weakness is that she can overthink everything.

She sometimes searches for complicated explanations when the simple answer is right in front of her.

Sienna also has a strong sense of justice. She doesn't automatically believe something just because everyone else does.

This becomes extremely important as she begins questioning what Angel Cats have been taught about Hell Cats.

Vera Ashford is confident, competitive, outspoken, and very difficult to intimidate. She has a strong personality and isn't afraid to say exactly what she thinks, even when she probably should keep quiet.

At school, Vera has a reputation for being intimidating. She likes being in control and doesn't enjoy feeling embarrassed or weak in front of other people. When Raven arrives, Vera quickly notices that she's quiet, nervous, and unfamiliar with the school, making Raven an easy target.

Vera often teases Raven and picks on her, especially when she notices Raven acting strangely. However, Vera isn't simply cruel for no reason.

She has grown up hearing stories about the conflict between Angel Cats and Hell Cats, and her family has its own history connected to it. Because of this, Vera genuinely believes that Hell Cats are dangerous.

She doesn't see herself as a villain.

She believes she's protecting her people.

Vera is also extremely stubborn. Once she decides that someone is suspicious, convincing her otherwise is almost impossible.

Despite her tough personality, Vera has a softer side that she rarely shows. She cares deeply about the people close to her and can become fiercely protective when someone she loves is threatened.

Her relationship with Raven becomes much more complicated as the story progresses.

He's constantly making jokes, teasing his friends, and coming up with ridiculous ideas. Sometimes those ideas are actually brilliant.

Usually, they're not.

Pip is the person who can make Raven laugh when she's having a terrible day.

Underneath all the jokes, however, Pip is much more emotional than he lets people see.

Humor is how he handles uncomfortable situations.

When he's scared, he jokes.

When he's embarrassed, he jokes.

When he's sad, he jokes.

His friends slowly learn that the louder Pip becomes, the more likely it is that something is bothering him.

Although Eira loves Raven deeply, she can sometimes be overprotective. She doesn't tell Raven everything about the past, believing that keeping certain secrets will protect her daughter.

Eira also carries a mysterious side that Raven doesn't fully understand. There are things about her past that she refuses to discuss, and occasionally she seems to know more about the Angel Cats than she should.

As Raven grows older, she begins questioning some of the things her mother has told her.

Raven Nocturne / “Dove”

Species: Hell Cat
Age: Teenager
Role: Main Character

Raven is a teenage Hell Cat with a dark, stylized human body with a cat appearance. Her design should feel expressive, slightly edgy, and cute without making her look overly intimidating. The overall style should be a colorful, simplified 2D cartoon style with clean shapes, strong silhouettes, and very expressive facial expressions.

Face & Eyes

Raven has a cat-like face with large, expressive eyes. Her eyes should be one of her most recognizable features. Her natural Hell Cat eyes have triangular pupils instead of ordinary round pupils. Her pupils are red and black, with the colors opposite between her two eyes for example, one eye has a red triangular pupil while the other has a black triangular pupil.

The unusual pupils should immediately make her look different from an Angel Cat. Her eyes should be highly expressive. They can become wider when she's scared or surprised, narrow when she's annoyed, and become especially intense when she's angry. Her facial expressions should have a lot of range. She can look cute and innocent one moment and intimidating or annoyed the next.

Fur & Coloring

Raven has very dark fur, such as deep charcoal, black, or very dark gray.

Her fur should not be completely one solid color. She can have slightly lighter markings around areas such as her face, chest, hands, ears, or tail. The markings should be simple and consistent so they are easy for an animator to reproduce. Her natural Hell Cat coloring should noticeably contrast with the lighter and more polished appearance of Angel Cats.

Hair

Raven has noticeable hair on top of her head rather than looking like a completely animal-like cat. Her hairstyle should be somewhat messy but intentional. It should give her a recognizable silhouette and fit her teenage personality. The hair can frame parts of her face and emphasize her eyes. The exact hairstyle is up to the artist, but it should feel youthful, slightly rebellious, and natural for her character.

Ears & Tail

Raven has large cat ears positioned naturally on top of her head. Her ears should be expressive and able to move with her emotions. They can lower when she's embarrassed, nervous, or scared and perk up when she's excited, curious, or alert. Raven has a long cat tail matching her dark fur. Her tail should be expressive and capable of showing her emotions. It can curl around her when she's nervous, flick when she's annoyed, droop when she's sad, or move excitedly when she's happy.

Body & Build

Raven has a slim teenage build with stylized cartoon proportions. She should clearly look like a teenager rather than an adult. Her proportions should remain simple enough to make animation easier. Her hands and feet can have subtle paw-like features while still allowing normal humanoid movement. REMINDER: THIS IS NOT AN ANIME NOR GACHA AND MANGA.

Clothing

Raven's clothing should look like something a teenage girl would realistically wear.

Her everyday clothes can use darker colors such as:

  • Black

  • Charcoal

  • Dark purple

  • Muted red

  • Dark blue

She does not need to dress completely gothic. Her clothing should feel casual, youthful, and believable. For school, she wears the Angel Cat school's clothing or uniform established for the series.

The “Dove” Disguise

When Raven pretends to be an Angel Cat, Eira uses magic to disguise her Hell Cat features.

The magic should not completely transform Raven into another character. It mainly changes or hides the physical traits that would reveal that she is a Hell Cat. One possible effect is that the disguise inverts or changes Raven's natural colors, making her appearance look more like an Angel Cat. Her darker fur and Hell Cat markings can become lighter, while other recognizable Hell Cat features can be altered enough to make her believable as an Angel Cat. Her overall body shape, hairstyle, ears, and general silhouette should still resemble Raven. The disguise should look convincing from a normal distance, but small details can occasionally reveal that something isn't quite right. If the disguise weakens, Raven's natural Hell Cat traits can briefly return. Her red-and-black triangular pupils should be one of the most noticeable things to appear when the disguise begins failing.

Important Design Goal

Raven should be immediately recognizable even when her outfit or colors change.

Her most important identifying features are:

  • Her distinctive hairstyle and silhouette

  • Dark Hell Cat fur

  • Large expressive eyes

  • Red-and-black triangular pupils

  • Large expressive cat ears

  • Long expressive tail

  • Simple but distinctive Hell Cat markings

When disguised as “Dove,” she should look like a believable Angel Cat version of Raven rather than an entirely different character. The final design should feel like a memorable stylized animated character with a strong silhouette, expressive face, and enough simple visual details to remain consistent throughout animation.

Luma

Species: Angel Cat
Age: Teenager
Role: Side Character

Luma is a teenage Angel Cat with a bright, charming appearance and a naturally magical quality to her design. She should look youthful and cute without appearing childish or overly perfect. Her design should fit the colorful, simplified 2D cartoon style of the series, using clean shapes, appealing silhouettes, and expressive animation-friendly features.

Face & Eyes

Luma's face is soft and cat-like, with large eyes that immediately draw attention. Her eyes have a layered circular design rather than looking like a single simple shape. The eye begins with a large outer shape, followed by a circular iris and additional smaller circular layers toward the center. The pupil itself is a flower. The flower is not placed around the pupil or behind it the flower silhouette is the pupil. It should be a simple shape with clearly recognizable petals rather than a detailed or realistic flower. Her eye structure should read roughly as:

Outer eye → inner circle → flower-shaped pupil

The different circles should remain visible and clean without making the eyes unnecessarily complicated. The flower pupils are Luma's signature feature and should remain recognizable even when her expressions become exaggerated. Her eyes should be capable of showing a huge range of emotions. She can look cheerful, curious, excited, nervous, surprised, embarrassed, upset, determined, or angry while keeping the flower pupils visible.

Angel Cat Coloring

Luma's appearance should immediately establish her as an Angel Cat. Her fur should primarily use a light, soft color such as white, cream, pale gray, or another gentle shade chosen by the artist. Small areas of additional color can be incorporated into her markings. Pastel pink, lavender, pale blue, soft yellow, or similar colors could work well if they complement her final palette. The markings should stay relatively simple so they are easy to reproduce consistently during animation. Her lighter appearance should provide a clear visual contrast against the darker Hell Cats while still allowing Luma to have her own individual color identity.

Hair & Silhouette

Luma has visible hair or head fur that gives her a recognizable silhouette. Her hairstyle should complement the shape of her eyes rather than compete with them. It can be fluffy, soft, slightly uneven, or neatly arranged depending on the artist's interpretation. The hair should frame her face while leaving her eyes and flower pupils easy to see.

Her hairstyle should feel angelic, youthful and sweet, with enough shape to make her recognizable even in a simple silhouette.

Ears & Tail

Luma's large cat ears are another expressive part of her design. They should naturally sit on top of her head and react along with her emotions. They might stand upright when she becomes interested or excited, tilt when she's confused, lower when she's embarrassed or sad, or flatten when she's frightened. Their shape should feel soft and appealing rather than sharp or intimidating. Luma has a long tail covered in her light Angel Cat fur. Rather than simply being a background feature, her tail should help communicate her mood. It can gently sway while she's relaxed, curl closer to her body when she's nervous, flick when she's irritated, or move enthusiastically when she's happy. Its shape should be simple enough that an animator can reproduce it easily from different angles.

Body & Proportions

Luma has a slim teenage build with stylized cartoon proportions. She should clearly read as a teenager, not a child or adult. Her design should use simple shapes that are easy to animate while still giving her enough personality to feel distinct. Her hands and feet can retain subtle paw-like qualities while allowing normal humanoid movement. The character should remain firmly in the stylized 2D cartoon look of the series not anime, manga, Gacha, or realistic animal art.

Clothing

Luma's clothes should resemble believable teenage clothing rather than a costume.

Her everyday wardrobe can use soft, bright, or pastel colors that work with her Angel Cat coloring. Possible colors include:

  • White

  • Cream

  • Pale pink

  • Lavender

  • Light blue

  • Soft yellow

Her outfits can contain small magical or floral influences if desired, but she should not constantly look like she is wearing an elaborate angel costume. Her clothing should feel comfortable, youthful, and appropriate for everyday life. For school, she wears the established Angel Cat school clothing or uniform.

Angel Cat Identity

Luma should feel unmistakably like an Angel Cat without looking identical to the other Angel Cats. Her light fur, soft coloring, cat features, and especially her flower-shaped pupils should establish her species. The other Angel Cats can share general traits while still having completely different eye designs, hairstyles, markings, and color palettes. Luma's flower pupils should therefore remain one of the strongest visual differences between her and the rest of the cast.

Recognizable Features

Even if Luma's clothes, colors, or hairstyle change, she should remain recognizable.

Her strongest identifying traits should be:

  • Large layered circular eyes

  • Flower-shaped pupils

  • Light Angel Cat coloring

  • Distinctive youthful hairstyle

  • Large expressive cat ears

  • Long expressive tail

  • Simple, animation-friendly markings

  • Soft but highly expressive facial design

The flower pupil should be the feature an artist can see immediately and associate with Luma.

Overall Design Goal

Luma should feel like a bright, expressive Angel Cat with a magical visual identity of her own. Her design should be cute without being overly childish, magical without becoming overly elaborate, and simple enough to work consistently in a 2D animated series. Most importantly, the flower-shaped pupil should be unmistakably the pupil itself. It should sit inside the layered circular eye structure as the final central shape, making Luma's eyes one of the most memorable designs in the cast.

Species: Angel cat
Age: Teenager
Role: Side Character

Pip Marlowe is a teenage Angel Cat boy with a stylized humanoid-cat appearance. His design should feel youthful, energetic, friendly, and slightly goofy without making him look childish. Unlike Luma and the other Angel Cats, Pip should have a more playful and distinctive appearance, with features that immediately separate him from the rest of the cast. His design should not rely on his eyes alone to make him recognizable. Instead, several smaller features should work together to create his identity.

Face & Eyes

Pip has a youthful cat-like face and his eyes should have a bright and friendly appearance without being overly elaborate. They can be rounded or slightly oval-shaped, with simple pupils and clear highlights. His eyes are expressive enough to communicate his emotions, but they do not need to be his primary identifying feature. Pip can look playful, curious, confused, embarrassed, surprised, or serious depending on the situation. His eyebrows, ears, mouth, and overall facial expression should work together with his eyes.

Fur & Coloring

Pip has light Angel Cat fur with a color palette that separates him from the other Angel Cats. His primary fur color should be a warm cream, pale golden-beige, or another soft light shade. He has a few simple secondary markings in colors such as muted gold, soft blue, or teal. These markings should have recognizable shapes and remain consistent between drawings. His markings should not be overly complicated. The goal is for his silhouette and main features to remain readable even at a smaller size.

Hair

Pip has fluffy, slightly messy hair on top of his head. His hair sticks outward in several uneven tufts, giving him a youthful and energetic silhouette. One or two larger pieces can fall toward his forehead, but his eyes should remain visible. His hairstyle should look naturally messy rather than perfectly styled. The overall shape of his hair should be different from Raven's and Luma's so that Pip can be identified even from a simple silhouette.

Ears

Pip has large cat ears positioned naturally on top of his head. One of his ears has a distinctive bite-shaped notch missing from the upper edge. The missing section should look like an old, healed injury rather than a fresh wound. It does not need to be graphic. The bitten ear is one of Pip's most important identifying features and should remain consistent whenever he is drawn. The reason behind the injury is part of Pip's history and will be explained later in the series. His ears are still expressive despite the missing section. They can perk up when he is excited, tilt when he is confused, lower when he is embarrassed, or flatten when he is frightened.

Tail

Pip has a long, fluffy cat tail matching his light-colored fur. His tail can be slightly fuller than a normal cat's tail, giving him another subtle visual distinction. The end of his tail can have a small darker marking or tuft that connects with his other fur markings. His tail should be expressive and easy to animate. It can sway when he is relaxed, flick when he is annoyed, curl around himself when he is nervous, or bounce excitedly when he is happy.

Body & Build

Pip has a slim teenage build with slightly lanky cartoon proportions. He should clearly look like a teenage boy rather than an adult. His posture can be relaxed and slightly loose, giving him an energetic and approachable appearance. His hands and feet can have subtle paw-like qualities while still allowing normal humanoid movement. (In this universe Angel cats develop wings as they get older, Pip is supposed to already have them, as angel wings are hard to draw if the artist can draw them that would be good, if they can't that's completely okay as well.)

Clothing

Pip's clothing should look like believable teenage boy clothing rather than stereotypical fantasy or angel clothing. He can wear casual pieces such as oversized sweaters, hoodies, jackets, simple shirts, comfortable pants, or sneakers. His colors can include cream, muted blue, teal, warm gold, gray, and other soft colors that complement his Angel Cat coloring. Small accessories can be used if they fit his personality, but his design should not become overly decorated. For school, Pip wears the established Angel Cat school uniform.

Personality Through Design

Pip's body language should make him feel energetic and approachable. He can have a slightly goofy or playful posture, often leaning, slouching, or moving around rather than standing perfectly straight. His ears and tail should be especially useful for showing his emotions. He can look cheerful one moment and become unexpectedly serious when something important happens. His design should leave room for exaggerated cartoon reactions without making him look childish.

Angel Cat Features

Pip should clearly belong to the Angel Cat species through his lighter fur, cat ears, tail, and overall softer appearance. However, Angel Cats should not all share identical designs. Pip's combination of light fur, unique markings, messy hair, slightly lanky build, and especially his bitten ear should make him visually different from the other Angel Cats.

Important Design Goal

Pip should be recognizable without needing his eyes to be the main focus.

His strongest identifying features should work together:

  • The bitten/notched ear

  • His messy, upward-pointing hair

  • His warm Angel Cat coloring

  • His unique fur markings

  • His slightly lanky teenage silhouette

  • His fluffy tail

  • His expressive ears and body language

  • His friendly but slightly mischievous expressions

The bitten ear should be the feature that makes someone think, “Oh, that's Pip.”

Eli Ashford (How to draw)

Species: Angel Cat
Age: Teenager
Role: Main Supporting Character / Raven’s Crush

Eli is a teenage Angel Cat with a soft, approachable appearance and a calm, naturally likable personality. His design should feel youthful, cute, and slightly charming without making him look overly perfect or like an adult. He should fit naturally into the colorful, simplified 2D cartoon style of the series.

Face & Eyes

Eli has a youthful cat-like face with soft features and expressive eyes.

His eyes should give him a warm and friendly appearance, but they should still be capable of showing a wide range of emotions. He can look cheerful, confused, embarrassed, surprised, or serious depending on the situation.

His expressions are especially important when interacting with Raven. He may become awkward or flustered around her without always realizing why.

Fur & Coloring

Eli has the lighter coloring associated with Angel Cats.

His fur should primarily use light and clean colors such as white, cream, pale gray, or another soft angelic shade. Small contrasting markings can be used around his face, ears, chest, hands, or tail to keep his design visually interesting.

His coloring should clearly contrast with Raven's darker Hell Cat appearance.

Hair

Eli has a noticeable hairstyle that gives him a recognizable silhouette.

His hair should look youthful and slightly messy rather than perfectly styled. It can fall around his forehead or frame his face while still leaving his eyes easy to see.

The hairstyle should be simple enough to remain consistent during animation.

Ears

Eli has large cat ears positioned naturally on top of his head.

His ears should be expressive and react to his emotions. They may perk up when he's interested or excited, lower when he's embarrassed, or twitch when he's confused or annoyed.

Tail

Eli has a long cat tail matching his Angel Cat coloring.

His tail can subtly reveal his emotions. It may move excitedly when he's happy, curl when he's nervous, or flick when he's irritated.

Body & Build

Eli has a slim teenage build with stylized cartoon proportions.

He should clearly look like a teenager rather than an adult. His body design should remain simple and easy to animate.

His hands and feet can retain slightly paw-like features while still allowing normal human-like movement.

Clothing

Eli's everyday clothing should look like something a teenage boy would realistically wear.

His outfits can use lighter or softer colors associated with Angel Cats, while still allowing darker or neutral pieces so he doesn't look overly bright all the time.

His clothing should be casual, comfortable, and age-appropriate rather than formal or overly angelic.

For school, he wears the Angel Cat school's clothing or established school uniform.

Personality Through Design

Eli's appearance should communicate that he is approachable and easy to be around.

He doesn't need an intimidating or overly dramatic design. His charm should come from his expressions, body language, and interactions with the other characters.

When he's around Raven, his expressions and body language can become more noticeable. Small moments of awkwardness, nervousness, curiosity, or embarrassment can hint at their relationship without making the design overly romantic.

Important Design Goal

Eli should be immediately recognizable even when his outfit or colors change.

His hairstyle, light Angel Cat coloring, expressive eyes, ears, tail, and youthful silhouette should be the main features that distinguish him.

He should visually contrast Raven while still looking like someone who belongs in the same world.

Most importantly, Eli should feel like Raven's crush, but he should also work as his own character rather than existing only because of his relationship with her.

Vera Ashford (How to draw)
Artist Artist
Vera Ashford (How to draw)
open
Unpaid

Species: Angel Cat
Age: Teenager
Role: Supporting Character / Antagonistic Classmate / Eli’s Twin Sister

Vera Rowan is a teenage Angel Cat girl and Eli Rowan’s twin sister. The resemblance between them should be noticeable almost immediately. They share several physical traits, including similar coloring, facial structure, markings, and their unusually fluffy tails. However, Vera should not simply look like Eli with longer hair or more feminine clothing. While Eli’s design feels soft, relaxed, and approachable, Vera carries many of the same features in a more polished, sharp, and controlled way.

Her appearance should reflect someone who cares about how she presents herself. She looks put-together and confident, but she is still clearly a teenager and should never appear overly mature or glamorous.

Face & Expression

Vera has a youthful feline face that noticeably resembles Eli’s. Their muzzle shape, nose, and general facial proportions can be similar enough that viewers can recognize the family resemblance. Where Eli often has an open, relaxed expression, Vera tends to look more observant and composed. Her expressions can sometimes feel judgmental even when she has not said anything yet. A raised eyebrow, narrowed eyes, flattened ears, or tiny sideways glance can communicate a lot of what Vera is thinking. However, she should still be extremely expressive. Vera can become embarrassed, frightened, genuinely excited, confused, hurt, or completely caught off guard. She isn't permanently stuck with an annoyed expression.

Eyes

Vera has large, expressive eyes with a slightly sharper overall shape than Eli’s. Her pupils do not need an unusual design. Raven’s triangular pupils and Luma’s flower pupils should remain more visually significant. Instead, Vera’s eyes are important because of how she uses them. She pays close attention to people and often notices things other characters overlook. This becomes especially important with Dove. Vera may notice small inconsistencies in Raven’s behavior long before she understands what they mean.

Fur & Coloring

Because Vera and Eli are twins, their coloring should clearly connect them. Vera can share Eli’s warm cream, ivory, pale beige, or light golden-gray base fur. They may also have matching or mirrored markings around their faces, ears, paws, chest, or tails. The markings do not need to be completely identical. Small differences can prevent the twins from feeling like copies while still making their relationship visually obvious.

Vera’s secondary colors can lean slightly cooler or stronger than Eli’s, helping give her a more defined appearance while keeping their shared family palette.

Hair

Vera’s hairstyle is one of the clearest differences between the twins. While Eli’s hair is naturally loose and slightly messy, Vera’s is smoother and more intentionally shaped. Her hair can be medium or long, with a clean silhouette and a few noticeable sections framing her face. It should still use simple shapes and avoid excessive strands or details that would make animation difficult. Even when Vera becomes emotional or messy, there should still be something recognizable about the overall shape of her hair.

Ears

Vera has cat ears similar in shape to Eli’s, strengthening their resemblance as twins. However, the way Vera holds them tends to be different. Her ears often sit upright and alert because she is constantly paying attention to what is happening around her. One ear may turn toward a conversation she is pretending not to listen to. When angry, both ears can flatten sharply. When something genuinely surprises her, they may suddenly shoot upward and break her normally controlled appearance.

Signature Family Feature

Like Eli, Vera has an unusually fluffy cat tail.

The twins' tails should have a very similar overall structure, making the feature feel genetic rather than coincidental.

Their tails are longer and noticeably fuller than those of most Angel Cats, with soft fur that creates a strong silhouette. They should still look like cat tails rather than enormous fox or wolf tails. The biggest difference is how the twins carry them.

Eli’s tail tends to move freely and casually, often accidentally revealing his emotions. Vera usually keeps hers more controlled.

When she becomes genuinely angry, frightened, embarrassed, or excited, however, her tail can betray her completely. That gives the twins a fun shared trait: neither of them is as good at hiding emotions as they think they are.

Body & Silhouette

Vera has a slim teenage build with simple cartoon proportions.

She tends to stand straighter than Eli and uses more deliberate body language. Even when she is relaxed, she generally looks more composed. Her movements can be quick and confident rather than stiff or overly elegant. Vera and Eli should have enough similarities that their relationship is obvious, while their posture alone can sometimes tell them apart. In silhouette, the shared fluffy tails connect them visually, while their different hairstyles and body language distinguish them.

Clothing & Style

Vera’s clothing is casual teenage clothing with a slightly polished edge. She might wear fitted or oversized sweaters, simple tops, jackets, skirts, comfortable pants, sneakers, or boots depending on the situation. Her outfits should look coordinated without appearing expensive or overly fashionable.

Because she and Eli are twins, they can occasionally have small visual connections between their outfits—similar colors, matching accessories from childhood, or pieces that unintentionally coordinate. Vera would probably be deeply annoyed if someone pointed this out. For school, she wears the established Angel Cat school uniform.

Personality Through Design

Vera should initially come across as confident, observant, competitive, and somewhat difficult to impress.

She does not trust easily, especially when something feels wrong. Her distrust of Hell Cats is connected to her family history rather than simply coming from a desire to be cruel. That does not excuse the way she treats Raven, but it gives her behavior an emotional foundation and leaves room for her beliefs to be challenged as the story develops. Vera's expressions should occasionally reveal that there is more happening underneath her confidence. When she feels genuinely threatened or hurt, her carefully controlled posture can disappear. Her ears lower, her fluffy tail pulls toward her body, and suddenly she looks much more like Eli than she would probably want anyone to notice.

Vera & Eli

The twins should look related even when they are not standing beside each other.

They share: similar facial structure, related fur coloring and markings, similar ears, and especially their distinctive fluffy tails.

Their differences come from how those traits are presented. Eli is softer, messier, warmer, and more relaxed. Vera is cleaner, sharper, more controlled, and more observant. They should feel like two versions of the same genetic foundation rather than two identical characters with different genders.

Important Design Goal

Vera should be visually recognizable as Eli’s twin sister, but she must still have an identity of her own. Her strongest design elements are her shared Rowan family fluffy tail, polished hairstyle, alert ears, expressive eyes, controlled posture, light Angel Cat coloring, and slightly sharper shape language.

Most importantly, Vera should not visually scream “villain.”

Before viewers know anything about her personality, she could easily look like a pretty, confident Angel Cat student. It is her expressions, behavior, and choices that create tension with Raven.

Unpaid

Species: Angel Cat
Age: Adult
Role: Raven’s Mother / Magic User

Eira is an adult Angel Cat and Raven’s mother. She has a graceful but approachable appearance, with a gentle presence that can become serious when her family or magic is involved.

Her design should feel mature without making her look elderly. She should still fit the colorful, simplified 2D cartoon style of the series, with clean shapes, expressive features, and a recognizable silhouette.

Face & Eyes

Eira has a soft, cat-like face with expressive eyes.

Her eyes should give her a warm and caring appearance, reflecting her role as Raven’s mother. However, she should also be capable of showing concern, frustration, determination, amusement, or seriousness.

When she uses magic, her expression can become more focused and powerful.

Her expressions should help show the contrast between her calm maternal side and her more serious magical side.

Fur & Coloring

Eira has the lighter coloring associated with Angel Cats.

Her fur can use soft colors such as white, cream, pale gray, or another light angelic shade.

She can have subtle markings that distinguish her from the younger Angel Cats. These markings should remain simple enough to be consistent throughout the series.

Her lighter coloring also creates a noticeable visual contrast with Raven's dark Hell Cat appearance.

Hair

Eira has a distinctive adult hairstyle that helps establish her silhouette.

Her hair should look more mature and intentionally styled than Raven's messy teenage hair, while still remaining simple enough for animation.

It can frame her face and give her a graceful appearance without being overly elaborate.

Ears

Eira has large cat ears positioned naturally on top of her head.

Her ears remain expressive despite her mature appearance. They may perk up when she is surprised, lower when she is worried, or tilt when she is listening carefully.

Her ears can also subtly react while she is using magic.

Tail

Eira has a long cat tail matching her Angel Cat coloring.

Her tail can communicate her emotions through subtle movements.

It may move calmly when she is relaxed, curl around herself when she is worried, or become more animated when she is angry or using magic.

Body & Build

Eira has an adult feminine build with stylized cartoon proportions.

She should clearly look like an adult rather than a teenager, but her proportions should still fit the simplified art style of the series, and she also has wings.

Her design should be practical and easy to animate.

Clothing

Eira's clothing should look like something an adult woman would realistically wear while still fitting the supernatural world of the series.

Her outfits can use light and elegant colors associated with Angel Cats, with subtle magical details incorporated into the design.

She can wear accessories or clothing elements that hint at her connection to magic without making her look like she is constantly wearing a fantasy costume.

Her everyday clothing should feel comfortable and believable for her role as Raven's mother.

Magic

Magic is one of Eira's defining abilities.

Eira is experienced with magic and is capable of using it to disguise or alter visible traits.

One of her most important uses of magic is helping Raven hide her Hell Cat identity.

When Eira creates Raven's “Dove” disguise, the magic should conceal or alter the features that would immediately reveal Raven as a Hell Cat.

The disguise does not completely transform Raven into another person. Instead, it changes visible traits such as her fur coloring, markings, and other recognizable Hell Cat characteristics.

Raven's overall silhouette and identity should remain underneath the disguise.

If Eira's magic weakens, Raven's natural Hell Cat features can begin to return, especially noticeable traits such as her unusual triangular pupils.

Magic Visual Style

Eira's magic should have a consistent visual language throughout the series.

Her spells can appear as glowing shapes, symbols, particles, sparkles, or flowing energy around her hands.

The effects should be colorful and visually clear without becoming too complicated for a 2D animated style.

Her magic should feel more controlled and practiced than the magic of a beginner.

Personality Through Design

Eira's design should communicate that she is caring, protective, and experienced.

As Raven's mother, she should have a natural warmth toward Raven, but she doesn't need to be overly soft or serious all the time.

She can tease Raven, worry about her, become frustrated with her, or calmly help her through difficult situations.

When Raven's safety is involved, Eira's more serious side should become obvious.

Relationship With Raven

Eira and Raven should have a clear visual and emotional connection as mother and daughter.

They do not need to look identical, but they can share certain features such as similar eye shapes, facial expressions, markings, or other design elements.

Raven's darker Hell Cat appearance should contrast strongly with Eira's lighter Angel Cat appearance, making their relationship visually interesting.

Despite their differences, Eira should still look like someone who could realistically be Raven's mother.

Important Design Goal

Eira should be immediately recognizable as an adult Angel Cat, Raven's mother, and an experienced magic user.

Her mature hairstyle, light fur, expressive eyes, graceful silhouette, ears, tail, and magical abilities should be the main elements that make her recognizable.

Most importantly, Eira should feel like a loving but capable mother whose connection to magic plays an important role in Raven's story.

Rook Nocturne (How to draw)

Unpaid

Species: Hell Cat
Age: Adult
Role: Raven’s Father

Rook is an adult Hell Cat and Raven's father. He has a strong and distinctive appearance, but his design should not make him look like a villain. He should feel like a protective father with a confident presence while still fitting the colorful, simplified 2D cartoon style of the series.

Face & Eyes

Rook has a cat-like face with strong but expressive features.

His eyes have the distinctive triangular pupils associated with Hell Cats. The pupils should be clearly visible and immediately establish his supernatural identity.

His expressions can range from calm and serious to amused, concerned, annoyed, or openly affectionate.

He should be able to look intimidating when necessary, but his normal expression should not make him seem constantly angry.

Fur & Coloring

Rook has dark Hell Cat fur.

His primary coloring can use deep charcoal, black, dark gray, or another dark shade. He can have slightly lighter markings around areas such as his face, chest, hands, ears, or tail.

His markings should be simple enough to remain consistent during animation.

His dark appearance creates a strong visual contrast with Eira's lighter Angel Cat coloring.

Hair

Rook has noticeable hair or fur on top of his head.

His hairstyle should have a mature, recognizable silhouette. It can be slightly messy or naturally uneven without looking unkempt.

His hair should visually distinguish him from Raven while allowing them to share subtle family similarities.

Ears

Rook has large cat ears positioned naturally on top of his head.

His ears remain expressive and can reveal his emotions.

They may perk up when he hears something important, tilt when he's suspicious, or lower slightly when he's worried about Raven.

Tail

Rook has a long cat tail matching his dark fur.

His tail can communicate his mood through subtle movements.

It may flick when he's irritated, remain relaxed when he's calm, or curl slightly when he's concerned.

Body & Build

Rook has an adult masculine build with stylized cartoon proportions.

He should clearly look like an adult rather than a teenager.

His build can be somewhat broader and more solid than Raven's, helping visually establish the parent-child relationship without making him excessively muscular.

His hands and feet can retain slightly paw-like qualities while still allowing normal human-like movement.

Clothing

Rook's clothing should look like something an adult man would realistically wear.

His everyday clothing can use darker colors such as charcoal, black, dark red, deep purple, or dark blue.

His style can be casual and practical, with subtle details that fit his personality.

He should not constantly wear stereotypical "evil" or overly gothic clothing simply because he is a Hell Cat.

Personality Through Design

Rook's design should communicate strength, confidence, and protectiveness.

He can have a calm or somewhat serious demeanor, but he should also be capable of joking around and showing affection toward his family.

His expressions should make it clear that there is more warmth underneath his intimidating Hell Cat appearance.

Relationship With Raven

Rook and Raven should have a recognizable father-daughter connection.

They do not need to look identical, but they can share features such as similar eye shapes, facial structure, fur markings, hair details, or expressions.

Rook's darker coloring can also be reflected in Raven's appearance, helping visually establish their family connection.

He should be protective of Raven without treating her as incapable.

Relationship With Eira

Rook and Eira should visually contrast one another as Raven's parents.

Rook's dark Hell Cat coloring can contrast with Eira's lighter Angel Cat appearance, making the family visually distinctive.

Their designs should still share enough stylistic similarities that they clearly belong together.

Their relationship can also be reflected through their body language and expressions when they appear together.

Hell Cat Features

Rook's natural Hell Cat traits should remain clearly visible.

His dark fur, triangular pupils, cat ears, tail, and other Hell Cat characteristics should distinguish him from Angel Cats.

Unlike Raven's disguise, Rook is not hiding his Hell Cat identity in his natural appearance.

Important Design Goal

Rook should be immediately recognizable as an adult Hell Cat, Raven's father, and Eira's partner.

His dark fur, triangular pupils, mature hairstyle, expressive ears, tail, and stronger adult silhouette should be the main features that make him recognizable.

Most importantly, Rook should look like someone who could realistically be Raven's father while still having a personality and identity of his own.

Role assigned to: Larrycreative

We are looking for 2D animators to help bring Hellcat’s Halo and its characters to life!

The series will use a simplified, colorful 2D cartoon style with expressive characters and clear silhouettes. The animation does not need to be extremely detailed or overly realistic. What matters most is strong character acting, readable movement, expressive faces, and the ability to keep character designs consistent.

Animators may be working with scenes involving dialogue, emotional character acting, comedy, everyday school moments, and occasional action or supernatural sequences.

You do not need to animate in one specific program. Any animation software is welcome as long as you are comfortable working in a 2D style and can export your work as a video.

For Your Audition

Please submit at least one example of animation you have made yourself.

Your example can be a finished animation, rough animation, animation test, short scene, character acting test, or another piece that shows your animation skills.

It does not need to feature a Hell Cat or Angel Cat, and you do not need to create a brand-new animation specifically for this audition.

If possible, examples showing character movement, facial expressions, dialogue/lip-sync, or acting would be especially helpful.

You may submit your animation directly through Casting Call Club if available, or include a publicly viewable link to your animation/portfolio in your submission description.

Please make sure any links can be opened without requesting access.

Please Include

Along with your animation example, please briefly tell us:

  • What animation program(s) you use

  • Whether you prefer rough animation, clean-up, coloring, or full animation

  • Approximately how much animation you are comfortable taking on

  • Your preferred name/credit name

  • A reliable way to contact you if selected

Previous professional experience is not required. Beginner and developing animators are welcome to audition if you feel confident showing your work.

All audition work must be your own. AI-generated animation will not be accepted as an audition.

Most importantly, we're looking for people who enjoy expressive character animation and are excited about helping develop the visual style of Hellcat’s Halo.

Unpaid

The Head Animator will be responsible for helping finalize the animation for each episode.

Multiple animators may work on different shots or scenes. Once those animation clips are completed, the Head Animator will collect the clips, review them, make any necessary final animation adjustments, and put the animated scenes together in the correct order.

This role is important for making sure that animation created by different people still feels consistent when placed together. You may need to fix small continuity issues, timing differences, missing frames, character inconsistencies, or transitions between animated shots.

You will work closely with the creator/director to make sure each scene matches the intended timing and direction before the completed animation is passed on for final editing, sound, music, and effects.

You are NOT expected to animate the entire episode yourself. Other animators will create individual shots and scenes. Your main responsibility is helping bring those separate pieces together and making sure the final animation feels like one complete episode.

For your audition, please submit examples of your animation work. Experience combining or cleaning up animation from multiple artists is especially helpful, but not required.

Please also mention which animation/editing programs you use and whether you are comfortable working with animation files created by other team members.

That definition also makes a video editor still useful: Head Animator assembles/finalizes the animation, while the video editor handles the final episode presentation—audio mix, music/SFX, titles/credits, final export, etc.

SOUND DESINGNER 1
open
Unpaid

The Sound Designer / Audio Editor will be responsible for helping bring the world of Hellcat’s Halo to life through sound.

Once voice lines and animation are ready, you will help create the finished audio for scenes by combining and balancing voice acting, sound effects, background ambience, and music.

This can include cleaning up voice recordings, making sure characters are at consistent volume levels, syncing dialogue with the animation, and adding sound effects such as footsteps, doors, movement, impacts, school ambience, explosions, magical effects, environmental sounds, and other sounds needed for each scene.

You may also help place background music and adjust audio levels so that dialogue, music, and sound effects work together without overpowering one another.

You will work with the creator/director and other members of the team to make sure the sound matches what is happening on screen and supports the mood of each scene.

You do not need professional studio experience. We are mainly looking for someone who understands basic audio editing, has a good ear for timing and sound placement, and is willing to communicate and collaborate with the team.

For Your Audition

Please submit an example of your previous sound design or audio editing work.

This can be a scene you have added sound effects to, dialogue editing, an audio mix, a short animation/video you have sound-designed, or another example that demonstrates what you can do.

If you do not have an existing example, you may also create a short sound-design test using any animation or video you have permission to use.

Please also mention what program(s) you use, what areas of audio editing you are most comfortable with, and whether you are comfortable working with voice recordings, music, and sound effects provided by other members of the team.

You are not expected to create all of the music for the series yourself. If original music is needed, that can be handled separately.

All audition work should represent your own editing and sound-design abilities. AI-generated audition work will not be accepted.

The goal is to take scenes that already look alive and make them feel alive through sound.
