.hack//Legend of the Twilight Manga Audio Drama (Volume 2)
Project Overview
Back in 2008, I made an audio drama based on the manga of .hack//Legend of the Twilight, with several people who now have made a name for themselves. I felt very proud that they've gone on to do great things. But now it's time for a new generation of voice actors to step in. I regretted not finishing the whole thing at the beginning, but this time... I intend to finish what I started, with a new group, but with the same style that I went with back then. As for the project itself...
"Welcome to The World, the most advanced online game ever created. 14-year-old twins, Rena and Shugo, are two middle-school students who enter The World as level-one game characters and now they're ready to take on anything... or so they think. When Shugo's character dies, he is transported to another level where he is entrusted to bear the Twilight Bracelet by the mysterious Aura. Shugo must find out who Aura is and why she gave him this powerful weapon to protect his sister from the dangers of The World."

REQUIREMENTS
Please note that some of these characters (especially the main ones) are recurring. I will expect commitment... and patience. Those who have auditioned may be considered as a role you have not auditioned for or extras (characters, NPC's, etc.). You may also let me know if you wish to be an extra or the extra role as well as your current role. Regarding critiques, I will be prompt at handing them out at your request. You can ask me. 'I don't bite... hard.'
Even though it's a fan project for fun (and as such, won't have a budget), significant level of technical and performance quality is going to be expected. Please ensure that your microphone is capable of recording your performance without picking up overwhelming background noises or excessive peaking/clipping.

The hero of the story. 14 years old and Rena's twin brother. After a mysterious accident, Aura gave him the Twilight Bracelet. Unlike the more reserved Kite, Shugo is very energetic; he is also a lot more carefree. He has a weakness for pretty girls, and in terms of skill is much weaker than Kite. He has been beaten by monsters that even newbie players would have no problem with. He can usually be found with his sister Rena, who he is very protective of, or one of his other friends. However, despite his flaws, Shugo is a caring person who would do anything to help somebody in need, even at risk to himself.
What I'm seeking is a medium-voice type. Something akin to Bryce Papenbrook's take (or even Collier Johnson's) on Shugo, but if you can make it your own, then that's even better.
(narrating) "So that's what happened during my very first online adventure. There were a lot of questions left unanswered... but the journey of Shugo (that's me) had only just begun."
(analyzing the enemy quickly) "Those wizard-types are quick and hard to hit, so we need a little boost, right? (pauses) LET'S DO THIS!!!"
(wondering about Aura) "The "Final Mystery", huh? I wonder if I'll be able to... see that girl again."

Shugo's twin sister. After she won limited editions of the ".hackers" characters, she entered The World with Shugo. Rena is fiercely protective of her brother Shugo, and makes no effort of hiding this. She doesn't like being ignored by him, or seeing him act "unheroish", and has many ways of getting him to do what she wants, her favorite method being a quick smack upside the head. Despite their slapstick relationship, Rena and Shugo are extremely close, and she will support him in almost any situation.
I'm seeking someone with a medium-high voice. Sayaka Mashiro (before she became a name for herself) did an astounding job portraying Rena in the past, but if you can make it your own, then that's even better.
"Those legendary heroes I mentioned before... They were the only players to clear the final mystery of "The World". They became so famous, their characters are now part of "The World's" mythology. Not much is known about the users behind the .hackers. In some ways, they've become "The World's" new final mystery. All that's known for sure is that the .hackers started out as ordinary players... just like us."
(after running for so long) "Can't believe how far I ran... I think I'm lost. This place sure is huge. Sometimes "The World" can be way too real..."
(somewhat surprised) "Where did this change of heart come from? You used to think leveling up was a pain in the butt..."

A Wavemaster whose sole purpose in playing "The World" is to collect rare items. Intrigued by Shugo's bracelet, she joins his party. Like her mother, Mistral, Mireille is shown to be a bright, optimistic character. She is always eager to help and please anyone around and will stop at nothing to obtain rare items. Mireille roleplays as a "Rare Hunter" or rare item collector. She spends most of her time within The World exploring dungeons and clearing events in attempts to gain more rare items to add to her collection. She maintains a small hideout in Mac Anu (a rare item itself) which she uses as a storage shed for all of her items. She is very well connected within The World, and has ties with many powerful people inside of the game. Ouka the Divine Fist, one of the most powerful players in the game is a close friend of hers.
High is what I'm seeking for in voice type. Marian Davis (when she did this project) was so razor-sharp as Mireille, so I'm hoping for something like she did or more...
(introducing herself) "I'm Mirielle, a Wavemaster."
(regarding an event about to happen) (gasps in excitement) "What's this?" (goes hyper-cute) "I can smell it, I can smell it now! The smell of rare items is beckoning me to come! We just HAVE to go!"
(excited about event) "There's PLENTY of time! We'll just come back before then!"

A career Werewolf who can transform anytime she wants. She's so strong that she's known as "Ouka the Divine Fist", and she's always looking for a fight. Ouka is obsessed with getting stronger, and constantly seeks out strong opponents to test her skills against. She is one of the strongest characters in The World, and has gained the title "Ouka of the Divine Fist". Despite this, she is very friendly and helpful to those she considers her friends. Mireille and Shugo are especially fond of her; both because of her rare character class and because she's very beautiful. She herself is very fond of Shugo.
Voice type is medium to medium-low. Alison Ho did a nice job back then, so I'm hoping for that.
(introducing herself) "The name's Ouka! I'm a career Werewolf! Pleased to meet 'cha!"
(introducing an event) "Tee hee hee. Have I got a present for you! (pauses then starts low then builds up) Forget the fireworks -- I've got information about a HIDDEN EVENT!!"
(sing-songy in a spooky manner) "The horror! The horror!" (goes normal & encouraging) "Nothing like a nice spooky house to test your courage."

A gentle player who can't help but love every living creature, due to her bizarre personality, she tends to surprise her companions. She's visiting the Japanese server from the United States. She is very attached to he Grunty, that she found abandoned and sick on a street corner. When forced into combat she defends himself using magical scrolls and tarot cards, immobilizing the enemy long enough for him to make an escape. She is very close to Shugo, who helped save her Grunty when it fell sick. Due to his inexperience with Japanese she has the tendency to speak very formally and often misunderstands what others say, especially the fast-talking Mireille.
I'm seeking... medium to medium-high. Ellie Cleereyn did a masterful job portraying her, so I'm hoping the same for those who audition.
(introducing herself) "Thank you. As for me, Hotaru is my name."
(about to cry) "People want to kill them just because they're monsters?! That is so sad! (begins to weep)"
(explaining herself for tardiness on Fireworks event) "I hurried here as soon as I realized it was past eight. It's still early in the morning where I live."

He's now an employee of CC Corp., working as an Administrator in "The World". has become infamous for designing some of the strangest events in the game. He becomes interested in Shugo and Rena, the winners of the .hackers character contest, and stages several tests for them.

(now seeing Shugo and Rena as avatars of his former comrades) "Kite... and BlackRose. The players are new, but the mystery remains. What does this bode for the rest of 'The World'?"
(a bit encouraging) "You'd better get stronger quickly if you expect to be a hero."
(listening to Aura's voice and in thought) "That voice... Is SHE really singing?"

Balmung's subordinate. Always scrambling around to take care of whatever Balmung says needs to be take care of Reki has been through a lot. As a system administrator, and an assistant to Balmung, Reki is forced to endure quite a bit of hardship. He is the one responsible for actually putting Balmung's grandiose event plans into action, and spends long hours coding things to fit his boss's every whim. Though he sometimes feels under-appreciated he still holds a great deal of respect for Balmung, and over the years has become one of his close friends. Despite his complaining, when things go wrong Reki stands by Balmung, no matter what the circumstances, even abusing his power as an admin to help his boss.

(worried about Shugo walking into Cerberus) "Are you sure that was a good idea, Balmung? Cerberus is the toughest monster in Hades."
(embarrassed) "Oh, dear. This is such a breach in protocol." (then goes happy) "So... um... without further ado..."
(angry and shouting) "ARE YOU THE ONE THAT MADE IT RAIN, BALMUNG?" (growls) "BUT, TODAY'S THE FIREWORKS DISPLAY! I'm getting really sick of this... could you really be any more selfish?"

Head Knight of CC Corp's own "Cobalt Knight Brigade". She is one cool character as she cracks down on players who break the rules. Kamui is totally devoted to protecting The World. She sees Vagrant AIs as nothing but scraps of filthy data, and will stop at nothing to purge them from the system. She is completely zealous in her work, and does not tolerate mistakes made by her subordinates.
I'm seeking someone who can go medium-low here.
"As leader of these Knights, I, Kamui, shall not rest until all of these bugs are wiped out!"

She's Kamui's subordinate. Faithful to Kamui and supporting her every move. At first glance, Magi appears to be a shy character, but she shows more confidence in battle. Magi is capable of an authoritative role when it comes to duty, and even displays confidence (borderlining on arrogance) when fighting in the name of Kamui and the Cobalt Knights.
I'm seeking someone who can do... medium on Magi.

A Vagrant AI that calls herself the child of Aura. Don't let her cute looks fool you, her personality can be a bit... difficult. When she first met Shugo, she called him, "mommy", but she was really referring to the Bracelet, which has her mother's "scent" on it. Her mother is Aura. She seems to find amusement in annoying all of Shugo's parties members except for him and Mireille. She calls Shugo, "big brother", which usually drives Rena off the edge, and also calls Rena a "Ganguro", or "Kogal" because of her avatar's design.
I'm seeking someone with a high voice type.
"One day, I noticed that I've been searching for her all by myself. After a while, I smelled her smell. I thought maybe she was here. That's why I came."
(rudely nicknaming Hotaru, Ouka and Rena, respectively) "Funny accent... Pooch... Kogal."

Kazu is a young, brown-haired boy. A Wavemaster, he is dressed in white robes decorated with his wave pattern, and carries a small messenger bag on his left shoulder.
Kazu acts fairly goofy in the game. He is especially fond of randomly choosing dungeons then trying to clear them, regardless of their level. Luckily he is fairly powerful and a quick thinker, so he is usually able to avoid trouble. He is protective of those he considers friends, and will do all he can to help them even at risk to himself.
