Fruits Basket | Season 2 Trailer Fandub
Project Overview
Hello hello hello! Yep, just like the project title states, I will be dubbing the season 2 trailer of Fruits Basket! I'm actually only half way through season 2 at the time of typing this pffft, but hey, I thought this would be fun to dub. The trailer itself is around 1:43 mins in length so this will be a short, but fun project for sure! That being said, I will be voicing Yuki in this and a friend of mine, Dottie, will be voicing Tohru! Originally, I was gonna ask some VA's I know to dub this with me, but I thought it'd be epic to make casting call and let y'all have a chance at this! Now with that out of the way below are the requirements!
Requirements
- 15 years+
- USB or XLR Mic (no computer or headset mics | your audition will be ignored)
- Keep background noise to a minimum (don't have your fan on full blast | no echoing either!)
- Must have a discord! (add your discord username in your audition!)
- 1-2 takes per line! (If you have another take on the character then please do two takes in ABC ABC format!)
- Must be able to turn in lines on time! (This is highly important!)
- Good communication! (please don't audition if you plan on ghosting after you're cast)
- You can do your own take on the character or an impression of the eng or jp dub! (anything is fine really)
- Finally have fun!

According to Komaki, Kakeru used to be a withdrawn, unapproachable person due to the pressure of the inheritance rivalry. He was forced into a perfectionist role as a child, which made him angry and cold; he was self-centered in his perspective and struggled to understand how anyone could see differently than him, especially people he loved. However, when Kakeru finally called it quits and found the courage to stand for himself, he suddenly became the character Yuki meets.
To learn something, you have to hurt something. (serious)
I see…so that’s what being alone feels like. (internally) I wanted to see things from her perspective. I wanted to understand, even if only a little. (emotional)
Huh…I’m surprised. I see, you’re actually an interesting guy! Sorry if I pissed you off. I’m an idiot at heart, so it tends to happen a lot. (laidback)
Machi is initially a very quiet, standoffish, and emotionally detached girl. She rarely speaks up for her own wishes, is somewhat agreeable, and has great difficulty expressing herself and communicating with people in general, which sometimes results in her older half-brother Kakeru making decisions for her and fellow student-council member Kimi Toudou dragging her around
Even though spring is almost here, it’s snowing. I hate when the snow piles up. The white snow that smooths over everything. The “perfection” of that white expanse…I hate it. (emotional slowly getting annoyed)
Am I needed? Is my existence required? Does this world need me? (conflicted)
(to Yuki) You came here to ask about what my classmates were saying? Believe what you want. You can believe them or not. (internally) I don’t care. No one, not even my parents, believes me.
At the start of the series, Shigure is portrayed as a laid-back, aloof, and fun-loving man who is insightful and gives wise advice. When he discovers Tohru camping in the wilderness behind their home, Shigure quickly becomes protective of and doting towards her; taking her in with only basic housework as an exchange, attending her parent-teacher conferences, and showering her with gifts to the point where Saki Hanajima and Arisa Uotani liken him to a grandfather spoiling his granddaughter.
(to Hatori) You're the year of the Dragon, so you must be the Dragon Bastard's offspring! How come Haa-san is the only weird one? It couldn't be any funnier if he turned into a real Dragon. (playing around)
(About Kyo) If he heard that little story, I wonder how he'd feel. (conflicted and curious)
My TV!!! (in shock as it broke)
Hatori appears as a quiet, serious, and level-headed man who is cool and composed at all times. At first glance, he is mentioned to be rather cold and intimidating, which is why people can misunderstand him. The reason why Hatori didn't want Tohru Honda to involve her with the Sohmas is because he didn't want her to suffer the same heartbreak as Kana did. He has also resigned himself to the fact that the Zodiacs shouldn't love or be loved. However, behind his somber and stern personality, Hatori is deeply gentle and kind, and prioritizes others happiness before his own.
(About Tohru, Yuki, and Kyo) All that I can do now is watch over them, so that they don't make the same mistakes. So that they don't lose the will to smile. (serious and in a soothing/comforting voice)
(to Tohru) I recommend moving out immediately. Stay away from the Somas from the now on. (serious)
(to Shigure) I'll call your publisher and tell them every embarrassing thing that you've done since you were four. (serious/joking)
Aside from her occasional bad temper tantrums when she was young, Akito was a nice, gentle, pampered, and sweet girl. Due to her father spoiling her, Akito grew believing that she was born to be loved by everyone and that everyone must do as she says. On the other hand, her mother's psychological and emotional abuse lead Akito to be desperate for displays of affection, and she would go around the household asking everyone if they loved her.
(to Kana) You can't lift the curse! You're not wanted! We don't need you! You're one to blame! It's your fault if Hatori goes blind, do you hear me? This is all your fault! It's all your fault! It's all your fault! It's all your fault! (screaming while angry)
The only thing wrong is that monster. (serious and condescending)
(to Kyo about Tohru) She's practically a saint. Or an angel. Or it could be... she's a monster. Come on, she's just a little too perfect and that kind of perfection seems wrong. (condescending and mocking Kyo)
Kyo is a very short-tempered, stubborn, brash, and sharp-tongued person. He is also viewed as charismatic and wears his emotions on his sleeves, which causes people to gather around him, and it also allows Kyo to socialize with outsiders with ease. However, he rarely displays this ability, and rough actions and insensitive remarks are sometimes the only things that come out. Kyo is also quite violent and self-sacrificing, and will frequently end up shouting at people, even people he cares about.
(About Tohru) The littlest things make her happy. She's always smiling. Always finding something to laugh about. She's selfless. Constantly giving more than she gets in return, never realizing. She deserves so much more than what she has. She think she's stupid, a burden, that there's nothing good about her. (comforting)
(to Yuki) I'll beat you and become a full-fledged member of the Sohma clan! (determined)
(Yuki & Shigure) Wanna tell me what you guys were thinking?! You're all here, and she's back at the vacation house by herself! (annoyed)
Kazuma is an incredibly wise and level-headed, yet friendly and polite man who is willing to take risks and make sacrifices to achieve the greater good. However, because of this, Kazuma has a slightly low view om himself; as he deems himself a selfish person who ignores other's will and pushes his one-sided feelings onto people such as Kyo.
(to Kyo Sohma) There’s nothing to be afraid of. I’m sure it will stop being scary…when your body…and your heart…get bigger. (comforting and reassuring)
(to Kyo Sohma) From now on…you will have to breathe the air of higher places. (comforting)
She appeared to be a kind and overprotective mother towards Kyo. Despite Kyo being cursed by the Cat and being ostracized by the Sohma family and her husband for it, and despite suffering from mental illness and being very lonely— having no one to depend on or no one to help her— she took it in stride, showered Kyo in motherly love, and raised him the best she could, despite her fears of his true form.
It's okay Kyo, I'll always love you. (comforting)
