Fairy Tail Zero Manga Fan Dub (Last deadline!)
Project Overview
Hello all, and welcome to a fandub of Fairy Tail Zero! I thought the Zero manga was a nice spinoff and addition to the Fairy Tail lore, so I thought it would be really fun to make a manga fan dub of it. Plus, it's only 13 short-ish chapters, so completing this full project is more plausible than usual!
For those who don't know, Fairy Tail Zero is the story of Mavis Vermillion and her friends creating the Fairy Tail guild and her becoming the first master. I prefer those who audition to be familiar with Fairy Tail for characterization purposes, but you don't necessarily have to be either. There are five main characters throughout Zero, three male, two female. Yuriy has already been cast, but the other four are wide open for audition! There are also a few characters who have fairly prominent appearances in one chapter each, including Zeref, and a several extras to fill if anyone is interested there.
The one thing I ask is if you do audition, please commit yourself to the project. I've had multiple projects that fell through because of voice actors dropping out of the project and losing contact with me almost countless times. (It actually stopped me from wanting to make projects for a while) So, please be committed to the project and we'll work together great! Secondly, have the best quality audio you can. You don't have to have a perfect microphone and a studio setup, but please reduce background noise and such the best you can. (Pillows and blankets are your friends! ^__^)
Lastly, have fun with your auditions. Fairy Tail is a fun story with zany characters, so please give it your all and let yourself loose and imagine you are the character! That makes it more fun for you too!
I have all of the scripts just about done, so I'll probably send all of them out at once with specific due dates, but we'll get to that later. The editing is currently under way as well. Have fun and give the auditions your best shots! ^_^

Mavis is the main character of Zero. She's kind, adventurous, and very intelligent. (13 years old) Despite being intelligent, she's also a little gullible and gets very excited about anything that has to do with Magic or Fairies. She has a wide range of emotions throughout the story. I would like Mavis' voice to be medium-high to high for a teenager, or your own interpretation. *****Special Note***** Mavis is six years old in the first chapter and I would like the same person to voice her at both ages. If you don't feel you can and are a great fit for Mavis at 13, I would definitely consider casting two different actresses.
(embarrassed) Oh yeah! The game was so interesting I almost forgot! (now happy) That's right! I get to meet the fairies soon! Fairies! Fairies! Fairies!
(very upset trying to hold back tears) I don't care about any of that!! Illusion or not, Zera will always be Zera! I-I DON'T WANT YOU TO LEAVE ZERA! (bursts into tears)
(Narration, 13 year old Mavis) Seven years ago, Red Lizard was attacked by Blue Skull. All of its guild members and townspeople were killed. The only two who survived were me and Zera. For the past seven years, Zera and I were living in peace on Tenrou Island together, just the two of us. (Mavis, 6 years old, wait a few seconds for line) A long time ago, papa and mama told me fairies don't come near crybabies. They worked in the guild, but a little while ago they passed away leaving me alone.
Zera is a main character in Zero. She is Mavis' best friend and very shy around new people. She used to be mean to Mavis, but changed in the time gap between chapters one and two. In reality (SPOILERS INSIDE) she is an illusion created by Mavis and not real(SPOILERS OVER) Zera also has a few very emotional scenes, one particularly in chapter 12. I'd like Zera to have a medium to medium-high teenager voice. ******SPECIAL NOTE, like Mavis, Zera has lines as a six year old in the first chapter. I'd like the same actress to voice both ages, but if not possible, I'd be fine with two actresses for both ages.
[casual] (sighs) Of course you'd forget. We better head to the library now. (small pause) Wait, Mavis! You forgot to wear your shoes again!
(emotional) Mavis, do you know where fairies live? That's right, in your heart. This isn't goodbye. I'm just returning where I came from, inside of you.
(Age 6, Zera) EWW! They're so dirty! I don't need gross shoes like these!
Precht is a main character in Zero. Precht is the leader of the treaure hunters and is very stern, serious, but has a soft spot in his heart for Mavis and the rest of his crew. I'd like anywhere from a medium to medium-low to even low voice for Precht, possibly a little gruff, or something up to your interpretation.
[stern](growls with minor frustration) We're not here to have fun, Warrod. Stay on task
(furious) You scum!! You won't defeat me! (battle scream)
(worried for Mavis) Stop being so foolish! It's too dangerous!
Warrod is one of the main characters in Zero. Warrod is generally easy-going, friendly, protective of his friends, but has a fun sort of rivalry with Yuriy. He eventually develops plant magic, which he uses to fight in the latter half. I see Warrod with a medium to medium-low voice, or one of your interpretation.
(friendly laugh then friendly delivery) I'm just messing with you. Just joking around! It's just the air feels so good here.
(fierce) I won't let you kill any of them! (battle scream)
(teasing Yuriy back and forth, but angry at same time) Quit joking around, you idiot! You're the one that moved it! I was the one telling you to stop!
Zeref is known as one of the most powerful mages in history in the Fairy Tail universe, but unfortunately one of the most evil/dark as well. However, Zeref was more lost and lonely at the time of Zero. Zeref only appears in one chapter here, but it's a line-heavy role for that one chapter. Try a medium ranged, possibly soft, voice for Zeref or something or your interpretation.
(apologetic) Everything I come in contact with... dies. You shouldn't come near me.
(slightly happy, but composed) In this moment where I am talking to you... I'm feeling quite happy. It's been a long time.
(Narration) These days spent with these people will always be my most treasured. It's now another ten days until the birth of Fairy Tail, and it might have been me that had killed her... as expected.
Jezelf is the Master of the Red Lizard guild and father of Zera. Jezelf is very cruel to Mavis and forces her to work non-stop, often ridiculing her in front of the entire guild. Unlike his treatement of Zera, Jezelf spoils his daughter, Zera. He is killed after the first chapter, but has several lines in it. Try a cold, possibly gravely, voice for Jezelf in the low to medium-low range.
How long are you going to keep slacking off, you lazy kid?!
(coldly) I've decided those boots don't fit a little runt like you, so give them back!
(spoiling daughter voice) That's because you're a little genius! Here, I got you some new shoes!
Master Jeffrey is head of the ruthless Blue Skull guild. Blue Skull took over Magnolia and Jeffrey ruled over it with great cruelty and strength. For Jeffrey, give me a low to medium-low, commanding/intimidating type voice.. He appears in two to three chapters.
(commanding) Enough! They won't be coming back after a defeat like that...
(annoyed) What's all this fuss about. (smug smile and delivery) Those troops are fake.
(angry) You take away my town?! My town's still here and it's fine! Magnolia Is not on fire!
The Narrator will read the intro to the first episode and an occasional other intro and outro of other chapters. At the very end, the narrator will read a pretty long outro I've written to the series over a series of slides of pictures. As for the voice, I'm up for any interpretation by either gender.
Fairy Tail Zero. (pause) The tale of Fairy Tail’s first master Mavis Vermillion, the tale of a barefoot single girl, the doors to her world now open. (small pause) Mavis’ story began somewhere in Fiore 112 years ago at the Red Lizard guild. (pause) Mavis was just six years old.
This fellow is a bartender and member of Blue Skull. He fights Precht and Mavis in a bar after they ask for information. He is only in chapter 4, but has several lines in that chapter. I'm picturing a mid-low to low, maybe gruff, voice for this character. It is up for interpretatin though!
(annoyed) The Blue Skull guild, huh? Not a guild I've heard of around these parts...
(cocky) You don't have what it takes to defeat a true mage...
Various extras consisting of townspeople, guild members from Red Lizard and Blue Skull, and an old man who has a few lines in chapter 6 or 7.
(give your best battle cry)
(give an evil, but not manical laugh)
(if you're interested in playing the old man character use the line, if not give another battle growl) Leave while you can, there's nothing left in this city.
