Fairy Tail Re:Write Casting
Project Overview
Fairy Tail Re:Write is a fan-made AU visual novel made with the intent of reimagining the popular manga and anime series, Fairy Tail. In this alternate universe, we follow our main cast through the world of Earthland as the planet goes through its second industrial revolution, further moving away from its magical roots. The novel is told from the perspective of Natsu Dragneel, who tries to navigate through this complicated realm yearning to reconnect with his father.
The rewrite will be in the format of a Visual Novel since that seems to be the best and most adventurous medium to explore this in. Because of that each chapter takes a good amount of time in between to write, edit, and finalize, so long-term dedication would be very helpful to the project. Right now, we’ve finalized the first chapter, and completed all the backgrounds and the majority of the sprites of the first chapter. But the last step to reach this first milestone is Voice Acting.
This casting intends to find voices that would fit the characters best and to capture a bit of realism into this. Even though it’s a fantasy world, it would be great to have cultures or ethnicities that are related to our lives in this one. So I greatly encourage all types of people to audition for these roles. Though do be mindful that if a asked for a certain accent or vernacular to be used for the character, someone who can naturally speak it will be more favored than someone who can't. There are paid roles within this project since I would want to give compensation for these things since no one wants to be undervalued for their efforts. If this project gets more traction or donations come in, I’ll be able to pay more for the roles or more paid roles in general.
Knowing about the original isn’t a requirement, since a lot is changing from it, but having knowledge or general knowledge will be very helpful for finding a voice range for what’s being asked.
Deadline for Audition
The Deadline is the round of auditions is May 10th.

I Got Cast, Now What?
Once cast, I’ll contact you through email or discord cause everyone has a discord nowadays honestly. I’ll give you the script for that chapter and would expect a week-turn around from when I give it to you. The fair thing to note, oftentimes I give the script that I use for easier inputs into the coding for the novel. So it’ll look alot different from a traditional script, but still will be marked and bolded for easier understanding. Also, you can request a live recording session if you'd like to. I have a flexible schedule for the future, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Hello everyone, I want to thank all of you who auditioned for chapter 1; it was astonishing to see many people turn out for such a project. Chapter 2's production is in full swing, and I've reached that point in the production process where it's time to open up auditions for the newest roles (Lucy Heartfila, Gray Fullbuster, Levy McGarden, and Aldo.) So make sure to tune in and try out if you're interested.
Natsu is a reserved person, who tends to keep a lot of his emotions and feelings towards himself. He can be awkward and quick to the point with others and not dragging on a conversation for longer than he needs to. Keeping to himself is what he does out of a false sense of comfort and security. He should sound like someone who can be shy and socially awkward but collected with barely any stuttering. Assured but distant.
"I have my job. My Apartment. It's nice to have things I can count on."
Eh, it isn't the first time I've had to kick a drunk guest out.
Sorry, I just need to get out of the house whenever I can ya know hehe.
Gildarts is considered a wild card amongst the military captains. He can be sassy and fun-loving but knows how to put on the "Dad" mask when he needs to. Being in charge, and comforting and supportive for those under him but can let loose every once in a while. He should sound strong and a little scruffy but still approachable.
Now, Nico, you know the rules. How much I help you depends on how much your tab is.
It's my responsibility to make sure my men know how to behave on and off the clock, their behavior reflects more on my ability to lead than anything else.
Men. TO MAGNOLIA!!!!
Dino is the kind of guy who tells you his mom doesn't allow him to swim in the deep end even though he's done it thousands of times. He wants things to go the way they're supposed to and can be a little stuck up.
What we need is to get back to the ship, the curfew was 20 minutes ago.
Ulisse is just straight up a fuck boy. He tries to come off as charming and playful but is just a wimp and sucker in actuality. For his voice, have him sound cool in the first two lines but scared to his last
No no no, what happened to the cute one just a second ago?!
Well thankfully someone is listening to my story, tell me, gracious bartender, what do you want to know?
Kid, um Natsu was it? I am not with those two okay, they're just some drinking buddies of mine on the ship. So let's just put this behind us and call it a night okay?!
Nico is boisterous, loud, and very good at being in the moment. For his voice, definitely, a deep and rough voice would work beautifully.
Our captain will understand if we're a little late coming back. So drown those worries in some liquor won't you.
No way, this kid wants to know something from us then let this be a lesson to him.
The Boss is the owner of the Bar that Natsu works at. He's kind but very stuck in his ways. His voice should be strong but gentle.
Man, with those messed-up ears I thought you would be better at listening.
Alrighty then, but after tomorrow, you're gonna take some time off. Go live a little.
Gia is a co-worker of Natsu. She's a college student who's just trying to get her money and go home. Her voice should be cool, a little tired, but cool.
I have to close up tonight, sir.
Apparently. Not even my mom has a grip like that, even when I broke the Sigma Statue she had.
If I hear one more story about a crab, I think I'm gonna snap my head off.
The Tram Driver is a lady who tries to treat her job like it's a stand-up session. She has an announcer and is very clear in her words.
Good afternoon passengers, it's a smooth 64 degrees this sunny Wednesday afternoon.
Word of the wise, if he doesn't have two front teeth, run.
Lucy is probably the most outwardly expressive character of the main four at the start of the series. She likes to conversate, understand, and learn about everything leading her to be the most vocal and outgoing. Her voice should feel like a stranger you meet on your first day at a new school who asks you to eat at the lunch table—approachable, somewhat caring, with hints of mister and fun underneath. She's like the sunlight peeking through the curtains, inviting but glaring.
"No, no. During the cultivation of early magic, the mages needed to keep track of how long it would take to fully recover their ethernanos. So they created the sundial to keep track of time."
"Actually, you're wrong. You technically said when we find some food, and that isn't for another hour and a half. So from the logistics of our agreement, we're both still in this."
"Well, it was nice chatting away the day with you, Natsu. Can't wait to see you out there tomorrow."
Gray knows who he is as a person, being able to constantly speak his mind and not being afraid to express his feelings outwardly. Sometimes he can over exaggerates his emotions and doesn’t let things go quickly. He loves to show off whenever he can, making small competitions out of everything. Gray has a bit of a protective instinct whenever he starts to bond or grows closer with others. His protectiveness comes from a sense of always trying to be strong, strong enough to protect and be there for the people who need him. He's a mixture of cockiness and arrogance but with slight hints of care and kindness. His voice should invoke someone who knows what they're doing and takes pride in accomplishing it. Also, having some flirtiness to it helps a lot as well.
"I could have probably earned twice as much Jewel today but then here you come. A pink-haired mug with warm ass hands messing with my cash flow."
"We see it every day. If today would have been so simple, then I would have been the victor earlier. If you were so simple, you wouldn’t have that Cobrai bag. Well maybe you're simple-minded, but my point still stands."
“Depends. But we still have time, don't we, Natsu.”
Levy, in this version, is alot more headstrong and wants to be successful at her job. She follows the timetables and does everything precisely and straightforwardly but never really gets recognition for it. So her voice needs to reflect seriousness and adherence to the rules while also being a bit unsure and wanting more out of her day-to-day life.
No, you need to understand that we have processes for these things. He has none of the verification forms, and you’re an unreliable source. You can’t just bring in random people off the streets to become our nation's protectors.”
“As Gildarts stated before, we all started off as random people. Unlike those beasts in the wild, we are far too complex to be satisfied with just simple living. So a purpose is inherent to our own existences.”
“Alright, how about you just tell me your information and I’ll write it down. Makes it easier for the both of us.”
Aldo just needs to be a kid who's trying to be a lot older than he really is. Like one of those children who are trying to be an adult while still obviously being a child.
“Uncle Gildarts, it’s so good to see you!”
“ I know which vessels give the most tips, the fastest routes the Mr. Richard’s Bakery on restock days, and where Big Freda keeps her secret stash of scotch.”
