Echoes of Lyra: The Primordial Echo (indie narrative adventure, PC)

Project Overview

ALSO CASTING CAELUM, her companion: adult man, around 45 to 50, native British or North American English. Role details below; audition PDF and Spanish references: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/16VJ6BKsg_DdrmBt8QTaBio52rb_OC0jv?usp=sharingEchoes of Lyra: The Primordial Echo is a third-person narrative adventure for PC (Steam), made in Spain by Velaria Studio, a small team of about ten people. Lyra is twelve. She stopped speaking: not by choice, her mind shut her voice down to keep her safe. She travels through Velaria, a world made of her own mind, carrying a lyre, and the lyre does the talking she cannot do. You explore, you solve puzzles by listening, and you face the creatures of that world alongside Caelum, her companion. You don't kill them: you set them free.

The game is fully voiced in Spanish today. The demo ships on Steam in January 2027 with full English voices, and we are casting the one role that matters most.

WHAT WE ARE CASTING: Lyra's inner voice. She never speaks out loud. Everything you would record is her thinking, and the player hears it from inside her head. It is not speech and it is not whispering as a technique: it is the natural, unprojected voice of someone thinking. Quiet, close, half-formed, unfinished. It is the heart of the game. We are casting an adult with a voice that reads young. British English preferred, to match her companion.

THE JOB: about 100 short lines (roughly 650 words, six words a line on average) plus 4 wordless pieces (breaths, one contained hyperventilation). Around 10 minutes of finished audio. One self-directed session from your own setup: every line comes with the Spanish recording from the game and written direction. One pickup session afterwards. Live direction over Discord is optional. Delivery WAV 48 kHz 24-bit mono, raw. Recording in November 2026.

PAY: flat rate 300 USD for the whole role, including the pickup session, paid on delivery by PayPal or bank transfer. Invoice welcome.

RIGHTS AND CREDIT: a short written agreement, buyout: perpetual, worldwide, all media, for the game and its trailers and marketing. Your voice will never be used to train, clone or synthesise anything. Full credit in the game and on Steam as "Lyra's inner voice".

HOW TO AUDITION: record the five pieces on the role page (four lines and one breath, about a minute of audio). MP3 is fine. Dry, close, no reverb, no processing, no noise reduction. The audition PDF with written direction and the Spanish reference recording for each piece is in this folder: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1wl19BOHC1mZB-agrra2ISxzRMVMj3Ox7?usp=sharing

Game: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4996500/Echoes_of_Lyra/ (watch the trailer to get a feel for her and the world, not for the voice: the trailer is cinematic and sounds bigger than she ever does).

Deadline: 31 October 2026. We will reply to everyone who auditions.

Twelve. Small for her age. She has been through things she has no words for, and she has learned that being quiet is safer than being noticed. She is not fragile in a delicate way: she is worn down. There is a difference, and it is most of the job.
LYRA NEVER SPEAKS OUT LOUD. Everything you record is her thinking. The player hears her thoughts from inside her head; nobody in the game does. So this is not speech and it is not whispering as a technique: it is the natural, unprojected voice of someone thinking. Voiced, close, quiet, half-formed. No projection, no performing, no landing the line. Smaller than feels right, always. Do not act the sadness: the writing carries it. She is twelve, not cute.
We are casting an ADULT with a voice that reads young. You do not need to sound like a child; you need to think believably young. British English preferred (her companion is voiced in British English).
AUDITION: five pieces, in order. The first three are the audition lines below. Then two more:
4. "Don't cry, little one... I'm alone too. We can be alone... together." A memory. She is about seven here. Tender, not cute.
5. (no words) A contained, broken-rhythm breath, 10 to 15 seconds. Curled up on the floor, trying not to be heard. Not a scream, not a sob.
Written direction and the Spanish recording from the game for every piece, so you can hear the size of the voice we are after (ignore the words, listen to how close and small she is). PDF and MP3 references in this folder: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1wl19BOHC1mZB-agrra2ISxzRMVMj3Ox7?usp=sharing
Record dry: no reverb, no processing, no noise reduction. MP3 is fine. One file with the five in order, or five files.
THE JOB IF CAST: about 100 short lines (650 words) plus 4 wordless pieces, around 10 minutes of finished audio. One self-directed session from your own setup, every line with its Spanish reference and written direction, plus one pickup round. WAV 48 kHz 24-bit mono, raw. Recording in November 2026; the English-voiced demo ships on Steam in January 2027. Flat rate 300 USD, paid on delivery. Full credit as Lyra's inner voice.

Voice description:
  • female teen
  • female young adult
  • Don't leave me behind. (A whisper. Pure vulnerability. More breath than voice.)

  • Why does something I can't remember hurt? (The most important line in her story. Do not perform the pain. Pause before 'I can't remember' and let the pause do it.)

  • No... not again. NO! (It builds: whisper to shout. The NO is a decision, not panic, not a scream for help.)

A tall, armoured figure who walks beside Lyra through Velaria, and the only voice that never asks anything of her. He protects her and guides her, and in combat he never acts on his own: he waits for her to give the order, because the point is that she decides. Warm without being soft, steady without being cold. Adult, low rather than high, but never booming. He has his own weight: there are things he knows and does not say.
LYRA NEVER ANSWERS HIM. She never speaks out loud. He talks to a girl who cannot talk back, and he never once makes her feel that she should. So everything is close, at her height, unhurried. If a reading sounds like a knight addressing a hall, it is wrong. He never pities her: respect, not sympathy.
ACCENT: native English, British or North American. Audition in your own natural accent, please: don't put on a different one, and tell us which one you are using.
AUDITION: five lines, in order. The first three are the audition lines below. Then two more:
4. "Now, Lyra! While the silence holds!" The one place he raises his voice. Clean urgency: a window closing, not a battle cry.
5. "Lyra... not everything you find here belongs to you." Soft but tense: the first time he is holding something back.
Full direction and the Spanish recording from the game for every line are in the audition PDF: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/16VJ6BKsg_DdrmBt8QTaBio52rb_OC0jv?usp=sharing Record dry: no reverb, no processing, no noise reduction. MP3 is fine.
THE JOB IF CAST: about 84 short lines (around 690 words) plus 4 wordless pieces, around 10 minutes of finished audio. Buyout for the game and its trailers and marketing; your voice will never be used to train, clone or synthesise anything. Full credit as Caelum.

  • You don't have to face it alone. I'll guide you, step by step. (Soft and firm at once. He offers his hand, he does not impose it. Their first meeting.)

  • A Memory Echo... a whisper from the past trapped in this world. (Explanatory but moved, not academic. He tells her what she is looking at, and it matters to him too.)

  • Lyra. I need you to order me to silence them. I can scatter that sound. (Clear and direct. He asks for the order: steady, not pleading, not commanding.)
