KICKSTARTER: Bring Them Down: The Audio Experience
Project Overview
Attention, Voice Talent! We're thrilled to welcome you to a pioneering audio drama project that aims to revolutionize the realm of auditory storytelling. Presenting "Bring Them Down: The Audio Experience," an enthralling fictional narrative set in the 18th-century world of international trade and political machinations.
The newly elected Governor Samuel Harrington, probes the volatile world of the East India Merchants' Company - a dominating force of its time, grappling with challenges from disparate quarters. As the wealth and influence of the company stir envy in the English Parliament and invite scheming from the Spanish, Samuel finds himself in the eye of a brewing international storm. The plot thickens with the insurgence of Captain Leonard, who, scorned by Samuel, ignites a civil war within the company. Amidst these internal and external threats, Samuel embarks on a challenging crusade against the brutal practice of slavery.
Our three-season project, comprising ten episodes per season, employs innovative spatial audio technology to radically enhance the listener's experience. Using ProTools alongside state-of-the-art spatial audio plug-ins and sound effects, we aim to create a comprehensive 360-degree auditory milieu, a "virtual 3D experience" that promises an engagement level far beyond conventional stereo presentations.
Your role as a voice actor will provide a unique opportunity to pioneer in this rapidly evolving art form. Your voice will traverse a sound canvas, placing listeners directly within the unfolding scenes. From grand maritime conflicts to hushed confidential conversations, your performances will come to life like never before. As an artist, you'll be pushing the boundaries of traditional audio dramas and shaping the future of auditory storytelling.
Our highly competent team consists of professionals from diverse domains, committed to creating a superior audio drama. Led by the esteemed composer, sound designer, and executive producer, Tyler Grow, and experienced producer Joshua Looby. They're supported by graphic and content designer Jayla Gianni, innovative Senior Content Artist Shaun Besman, co-showrunner Aaron Pedroza, screenwriter Thomas-Jay Baker, sound designers Nicholas Pawlenko, Conor Van Slyke, and Michael Pierluissi, a gifted set of voice actors, and a unique musical ensemble.
This summer, we aim to create an 8-minute demo scene from the inaugural episode's script as the foundation of our project. Concurrently, our skilled art department, in collaboration with our folk musicians, will work relentlessly to produce an engaging trailer and a broad-reaching marketing campaign on Kickstarter, targeting to raise over $25,000.
We intend to discuss your rates and finalize payment terms upon the full funding of our series. While this implies a deferred payment plan, we are confident that our unique project's appeal and a successful Kickstarter campaign will ensure sufficient funding.
We're excited to share that we have engaged in promising discussions with distributors and former executives from leading production and entertainment companies. Their expressed interest in our project further bolsters our chances of success.
"Bring Them Down" is more than just an audio drama—it's an opportunity to be part of a fresh wave of immersive storytelling that has the potential to redefine audience experiences. We hope you'll join us in this groundbreaking endeavor.
We appreciate your consideration and are more than willing to discuss any queries or concerns you may have regarding the project or the payment plan.

Ah, at long last. Finally awake? I was wondering if you were going to be asleep for the entirety of the voyage.
When did the East India Company receive its charter from Queen Elizabeth I, granting a monopoly on all English trade in the East Indies?
Third job! Reload that shot and guard the stairwell! I'll get us out of this mess! SIMON! Don't worry about that for now, focus on getting out of here alive first!

Just a little while longer, lad. Hang on.
How many of us are left, Richmann? How many do you think? I thought when that war ended year ack that we'd stop losing the good ones...stop losing ourselves. How wrong I was.
The number of lives I've saved acting as escort to trade ships attacked by privateers and pirates. Would you like to know the number of hostiles I've killed? How about the amount of valuable resources that I've helped reach their destination undamaged and unspoilt? Would like you like that last one in weight, or in value in gold? I may be well educated, Governor, but I can drop the pleasantries and the etiquette as soon as you give me an order to carry out, and put a sword in my hand.

This is a popular trade route, I'm sure someone will be along in a moment. And I'm confident a naval officer with as much tenure as yourself must be a half-decent swimmer...
I have no use for men who betray their superiors. Well, that's not strictly true...I have no long- term use for them
Very good. Let us prepare to make sail. Leave no survivors, make way with haste.
Captain Leonard—an ambitious officer of the East India Company. Leonard's innovative thinking and strategic planning have propelled him to great heights within the organization, earning him a reputation as a formidable force on the high seas. While possessing a sense of heroism, your voice should also possess a hint of darkness, capable of seamlessly transitioning from a valiant, inspiring tone to a chilling, remorseless demeanor. Similar acting style to Iwan Rheon, or Ramsay Bolton from Game of Thrones

Governor, a pleasure.
It's no bother sir, glad to be of service. But, I must confess, I am quite curious; why the urgency of my attendance?
We know, dammit! Send word to the garrison, put them on high alert, we may be under attack! And send medical assistance down to those docks immediately!
Simon, age about 15-17, charismatic deckhand with a thirst for adventure, quick wit, and an evolving maturity within a 17th-century naval setting. The actor must be able to switch between humor and high-stakes tension, embodying Simon's infectious optimism and growth in a flexible, though ideally British, accent. Unisex audition, anyone can apply!

I'm doing, good, sir. Apologies for oversleeping, I was on the night watch-
What're you going to do sir?!... (Richmann motions off screen) ...You're going to ram them...? Respectfully sir, I think you've gone mad!
That manoeuvre you pulled, that got us out of that mess, how did you even think of that? Surely that's not something written down in a handbook somewhere?
William Martin, the stalwart and commanding figure in our audio drama, who carries a tone similar to the impactful resonance of Russell Crowe. The character, a proverbial bull, is fiercely loyal and unflinching in following orders, yet harbors a compassionate heart beneath a sturdy exterior. Candidates should be able to portray emotional depth, demonstrating the ability to act impulsively to accomplish tasks, disregarding political implications or potential repercussions. Martin's voice should boom across our drama, combining authority with an underlying warmth, as he navigates the intricate labyrinth of his duties.

Jason, listen well - we tread perilous seas here. Trust? A scarce luxury in these times. Fortunate I am, to have a steadfast ally like you, a virtue seldom found. Our duty now is clear - we sail back, to warn Lord Harrington of the tempest that brews here in India.
Stand fast! I am William Martin, a sworn officer of the esteemed East India Company, safeguarded by the mighty British Crown. Our intent is peaceful commerce - resist, and we shall respond with force. Remember, your compliance determines the next course. So, choose wisely.
Arthur serves covertly within the Prime Minister's Cabinet while publicly appearing as an ordinary Member of Parliament. He possesses a profound empathy for the downtrodden and lost souls, though he never allows personal emotions to cloud his judgement or interfere with his obligations. The character is inherently dutiful and unwaveringly loyal to the Prime Minister, which may sometimes paint him as cold-hearted. The ideal candidate should be able to balance a dual portrayal of calculated political acumen with a deep, empathetic undercurrent. Comparable to actors such as Pierce Bronsan

Our loyalty is to the Crown and the people, my friends. It is not the position that grants authority, but the resolve to do what's right.
Sympathy and duty, two sides of the same coin. But let's not forget, duty must always weigh heavier.
My, my, Lord Harrington. A bit of a baptism by fire for your governorship, isn't it? What's this about chasing after a ship? You've got a hefty plate of obligations right here. Delegate, man, it's not a weakness. But if you're hell-bent on this folly, I'm not one to stay ashore. After all, someone needs to keep you from toppling overboard.
ROBERTS is the loyal and capable second-in-command to Benjamin Castleton. He is a steadfast officer who is committed to his duties and remains vigilant in the face of danger. Yes sir. I've heard some of the older men say you start taking it for granted after a while. Think I'm a ways off that happening yet.

Governor Harrington may have the seas under his command, but here, in these hallowed halls, we dictate the fate of empires.
I've received word from my sources within the Company. There's talk of a coup, and we'd be fools to ignore it
Character actor similar to the actor Diego Luna or aka Andor (Star Wars).
The King's Brother stands as a moral counterpoint to the King, deeply empathetic and attuned to the suffering of the kingdom's subjects. Torn between familial loyalty and a sense of duty to the people, he grapples with the consequences of the King's actions, willing to oppose his own blood for the greater good. His character represents the internal and external conflicts of power, privilege, and moral responsibility in a politically charged environment.
While my brother wears the crown, it is my duty to be the conscience he seems to have forgotten."
Every decree he signs, every order he gives, I feel the weight of its consequences on my shoulders
I've walked among our subjects, seen the despair in their eyes. It's a reflection of the kingdom we've become.
The Voodoo Witch, while deeply entrenched in the dark arts, is a beacon of balance amidst the supernatural chaos. She respects the spirits she communes with, emphasizing harmony over domination. Although her practices might be misunderstood or feared by many, her moral compass is unwavering. In the face of rising malevolence, she becomes an unlikely ally to the living, driven by a duty to prevent the sea from becoming a realm of the damned. Her character embodies the duality of light within darkness and the complexities of navigating power with respect.
Voice Tone: Her voice should be deep and resonant, carrying the weight of her knowledge and experiences. It should have an ethereal quality, hinting at her connection to the spirit world, but also grounded, reflecting her ties to the living realm.
Pacing: Her speech should be deliberate and measured. She's seen much and knows the importance of every word. There's a rhythm to her speech, almost like a chant or incantation, even when she's not performing a ritual.

The spirits whisper of malevolent forces at play. The sea is restless, and the damned are eager to rise."
You come to me, a dweller of the in-between, seeking aid against those who've lost their way in the dark arts.
The sailors' souls cry out in torment. We must act swiftly, or the sea will become a graveyard of the possessed
