DYAD (A 2D Animated Series) Trailer Casting **PAID**

Project Overview

What is this Project?

DYAD is a 2D animated action/adventure/musical limited series that aims to include a prequel movie and be followed by 2 seasons.  The project itself is produced by Boldbird Studios, and is aimed at a young adult audience, and would likely be classified more as an adult animation project. Despite being aimed at a more mature audience, this project will not include instances of suggestive material or foul language, though it does deal with heavy issues such as corruption, prejudice, murder, small amounts of alcohol use, etc, and features occasional instances of potentially disturbing images that may not be suitable for a child audience.  Due to this, the series would likely receive about a TV14 ish rating, so take that as you will.

DYAD is an independent project created by REA Bear Animates.  It is a long term project that will take several years to complete. Before reading further, please know that if you should be cast in a role for this series, you will be expected to consistently reprise your role after the prequel movie for two seasons worth of episodes, therefore, being part of this series will be multiple years of commitment (likely more than 5 years).  If you are unsure about whether or not you will be able to commit to this project for multiple years, but still want to be part of it, you can still try out, but please only do so for Extra or Minor roles!!



What is the Main Plot?

DYAD is about Monique & Bruce, a pair of twins who are descendants of Percy Royce, the man who created the most powerful type of magic, Astrafix. All descendants of this man have the responsibility to maintain the barriers he created to keep their kingdom safe from an ancient Demon named Delanath. Though Mo & Bruce have another problem, they are the first in their family to be half-mortal, half-magic. Because of this their parents were killed when they were young and now they live with their aunt. Mo & Bruce’s older brother Jack finds out how their parents were killed and turns his back on the kingdom leaving another void in the family. Mo and Bruce, however, are determined to find peace and forgiveness, and end the prejudice that exists between their people and mortals, right their brother's wrongs, and restore faith in their family's name. This proves no simple task, between having to balance a double life on Avovalyn and earth, keeping gullible little sister Selena out of trouble to ensure no further familial division, learn to master their power, and, all the while, Delanath prepares to unleash his most twisted, manipulative plan yet to ensure that the prophecy comes to fruition.

All actors are paid $0.50 a line. Pay may increase with funding of the project.

You must have Paypal to be paid.



How long is this project?

The project will span for a prequel movie, and 2 seasons, with the first season being 20 episodes long.



How long will I have to record lines?

Our casting call will last between May 22 to July 15, lasting 8 weeks in total. You can always re-record lines.



What are we looking for?

Voices that can properly represent each character with professional quality microphone quality. We are also looking for responsible people, who are determined to take their roles seriously and follow rules and contracts. 



Requirements


  • Have audio with no background noise or static


  • If you add effects, summit a version without effects as well 


  • When doing takes, we ask that you have a minimum of 2 takes per line, and do not exceed more than 3 takes per line.


  • Please sing at least 1 minute of a chosen audition song


  • For the singing portion, please record without a backing track or with a quiet backing track


  • Be willing to go through call-backs 


  • Be willing to be called back for characters you did not audition for


  • Have a Discord!  This will be our primary means of communication once work on the project begins.  We will also conduct “table” reads through here, so please be available for that!


  • Be collaborative, the team will have table reads and other meetings that you will be required to come to 


  • Be age 16+.  You MUST sign a contract and NDA prior to being officially accepted onto the team.

    The first round of audition for the characters/main cast needed for the DYAD trailer are officially closed! Thank you so much to everyone who tried out, rather it have been at our live sessions or posting your audition on our casting call. We really appreciate anyone's interest in our project, and even considering an audition for us. You all have truly made this special, especially with this being our very first call for DYAD, and we thank you for that <3 Between the lives and the recorded auditions, we have received right at 400 auditions for this project, which is INCREDIBLE!   • Quick Update: Selena and Studio Updates

    Hello all! First, thank you so much to everyone who has auditioned so far for the project, we're touched and excited to see so many auditions here already! We've been going over the auditions as they come in and we're thrilled :D So, as for the purpose of this update, we have tweaked Selena's information slightly. Selena is a more tomboyish character, and we don't feel this was conveyed much in her description before. For Selena, we're looking for a more grovelly, tomboyish voice more so than a more cutesy little kid voice. We apologize for any confusions on what we were looking for with her character, but we just wanted to specify we have modified her description to reflect this. Description: Victor met Jack after running away from his town that is very violent towards magic wielding people. One of these attacks killed his mother and almost him and that’s when he chose to leave. Victor doesn’t like Jack at first but they get along due to them both having mixed magic heritage and needing a home.  Despite his situation, he is a very level-headed individual, and often serves as the “voice of reason.”  He is not very malicious himself, but will stand up for himself and his friends when he must.

Even with being shy and timid, he is a lot tougher and braver than what immediately may be shown.

She’s very sarcastic and prideful from wanting to prove herself but she will always still come through for the people she cares for, even if it takes a bit.

  • 3. I know you want to know about those things, and I do intend to tell you about them—when the time is right. But until then, you just need to enjoy each step of the learning process and learn to be satisfied in the situation you’re in rather than constantly yearning to be somewhere else. You’ll never be content in life if you don’t learn that lesson now.

    4. (stern and angry) Now you have a lot of explaining to do, young man. (Looks down hard on Jack) What were you thinking making a scene like that?! You had everyone terrified—that was not what you were instructed to do! You were to catch the thief, and turn him over to The Resistance officers, you had no right to do anything beyond that! Was that not clear? (Enraged) I sent you in there to help take care of the problem, not cause one! Your actions were far from heroic, and you should be ashamed of what you just did! (Shakes her head) I know I am certainly am. Your actions reflected poorly, not just on you, but on your siblings and on me. (Shakes her head, furious) What were you even trying to do?

Description: As a child Jack was very optimistic and close to his siblings but as he grew into a teen his view soured and he started growing away from his family before cutting ties with them. He hates his home kingdom and becomes a traitor to it, as he blames them for the deaths of his parents and despises them for their prejudiced views towards non-magical people, which his father was.  He vows revenge against the kingdom and recklessly pursues this.  He begins trying to train himself and find allies and certain magical properties that will make him even stronger.

(sullen) I’ve known for years that this day was coming, and I always expected that I would be annoyed when it did, or maybe even a little angry.  (Shakes his head) I just didn’t expect that it would hurt me like this.  (Huffs) If they do take that pledge to serve this kingdom, then it would be the same as if they had delivered the final blows to our parents themselves.  (Shakes his head slowly) And I don’t think I could ever forgive them for that.

    2. (Extremely hurt, acting vengeful to try and disguise his hurt) I guess I must be stupid.  I didn’t realize that ‘no matter what’ was a conditional phrase. (Pauses, breathes in heavily) Just because you people were fine with breaking your promise to me, doesn’t mean I’ll break the one I made to you.  (Glares off towards the kingdom) I told you I’d always stand up for what I believe is right, and I will. Even if it means I have to stand alone.

  • 3. (yelling, excited schadenfreude)

    I will make sure, I will!!! That not a single one of you will be helped, by any of us. The legacy ends here, did you get that?!

    4. (yelling, hysterical) Our lives are at stake here! We can’t afford to take any chances!

    5. (Crying) I promise, I’ll always keep them safe.

Description: Lucan is a private school boy but only because his aunt who was raising him and his brother didn’t want anything to do with them. Lucan struggled socially in private school as he watched his brother succeed. He loves science and experimenting with it but often doesn’t see his own shortcomings. Lucan becomes interested in creating an invincibility potion and breaks into government labs to get materials to experiment with. One of his experiments goes awry and he blows up millions in damaged and gets called the kingdom’s most idiotic criminal. With his new found status Lucan runs away and runs into Jack and Victor who take him in.

Description: When Shay was young she aspired to be like her father, one of the Resistance founders, and was bound to be a great soldier. She’s very skilled combat wise and climbed the ranks faster than anyone. When Shay is 18 her father is found murdered and she gets arrested fot the crime she didn’t do. Even after being found not guilty everyone thinks she did it, promoting her to be mistreated. She creates a goal to find who killed her father, and in so doing, winds up abandoning the sound morals that once directed her path and becomes a traitor to the kingdom. In her journey she finds Jack, Victor and Lucan to make a deal with them.

I want them to know what it’s like to lose so much that you have nothing left—I want them to know what it’s really like to live a tortured existence. (behind gritted teeth) And I want to hear them beeeeg for death. And then I want them to continue to beg for death, every single day for the rest of their miserable existence—but never be given it. (Snarls) To kill my father and take him away from me was unforgivable enough as it is, but to set me up to look like the perpetrator! (Stops back, pauses, and gives a slight hint of an evil laugh) Oh. I will make. Them. Sorry. (pauses, slightly sarcastic) So I'm sorry you get tired of hearing about it.   (raises her dagger and swing it at a nearby vase, destroying it as she finally comes unhinged) I get tired OF LIVING IT!!!

[in disbelief, pleasantly surprised, looking down at her father's dagger] I just can't believe that after everything you and I have been through together and all the fights we’ve had that you would do this for me.  [slightly embarrassed and blushing, hesitant to continue] Seriously...this means a lot more to me than you could ever understand.

(Crosses her arms, closing her eyes, hysterical and nearly in tears) You didn’t have to spend your entire childhood wondering why everyone else got to have perfect relationships with their parents, but why you weren’t good enough for yours!! (Glances over at Benji, hurt in her eyes) I just...I wouldn’t expect you to understand.  (pauses, somewhat recomposes herself, and clutches her amulet her hand) I guess...I just wanted to try and pretend it never bothered me, that someone I couldn't even remember wouldn't have that much power over me.  But, the more I think about her, I just... (gets suddenly really angry and determined, turning on Benji, demanding a change in subject) You know what?  No!  We're not getting into this!  Can we just get on with what we came here to do?!
