Known as “Dracanea’s golden boy,” Riker is a former teenage hero who once led a party to defeat a great evil and save the kingdom. Now an adult and a decorated member of the elite Regalia Guard, he lives a life of fame, ceremony, and public adoration. Despite this success, his parents always seem disappointed in him, as they're a wealthy family, and his fame only affords him a modest salary.

Privately, he is exhausted. Restless. Bored with the performative expectations of adulthood and heroism. He longs for real adventure again.

Publicly, however, he leans hard into the role. He speaks in dramatic, verbose, chivalrous language with confident projection and theatrical flair. It is partly sincere, partly performance.

In candid moments, his tone drops into something more casual, enthusiastic, and occasionally trite. He can be charming, self-aware, and even a little dorky when his guard is down. He secretly wishes he were a sailor, and is a huge boat nerd who loves building model ships. Personal catchphrase is “Onwards and upwards! An avid lifter and accomplished chef, Eevie takes particular pride in her love of sandwiches.

She is written to have big-time mom energy, though not literally a mom, but has the same kind of gentle authority that feels both caring and serious. Usually pleasant and friendly, but does have a dry sense of humor that comes out. Her speech is lightly proper but not archaic. As a young Queen still adjusting to the role, her tone balances regal composure with approachable warmth.

Many citizens revere him as deeply as the monarchy itself and Redox himself is a symbol of national pride. However, his deep love for Dracanea also fuels a stubborn, unyielding streak. When challenged or opposed, his temper surfaces quickly. He does not retreat from confrontation, and he does not bend easily.

He is outwardly jolly and fatherly, fond of dad jokes and booming laughter even in the face of adversity. Warm, encouraging, and battle-tested, he carries decades of military leadership with confidence and charisma. Redox commands attention the moment he speaks. His voice carries authority naturally, often bordering on forceful projection.

Viola has a tragic backstory where her fiancé went missing years ago with no explanation which gives her a bit of a somber demeanor. Despite this, she is proper, polite and quietly friendly. Due to her farming background, she knows a great deal about plants and carries essential oils with her, everywhere.

She speaks with an air of naivety and wistfulness. Overall lacks confidence and always avoids confrontations. Her grammar and vocabulary skew heavily proper, with a British air to them. Uses interjections like "Oh dear" and "Oh my" quite often, and has a trademark quiet laugh "Hm-hm!" that no other characters use.

Rough around the edges and quick to anger, Ivan is always ready for a fight. However, beneath the fury lies genuine conviction. His anger is righteous, not cruel. He fights because he believes in justice, not because he enjoys violence.

Though aloof and guarded, he is capable of introspection. There is a quiet sadness and weight beneath his intensity.

At first glance, Mike reads as the archetypal cool guy. He’s charismatic, affable, and effortlessly social. But beneath the flamboyant exterior is a legitimately brilliant academic who knows exactly what he’s talking about.

His speech blends laid-back surfer cadence, beatnik rhythm, and 80s/90s “dude” energy. He casually refers to others as some variation of “dude” (hero dude, villain dude, doctor dude, etc.), often for comedic emphasis. His catchphrase is describing something impressive as “ca-ray-zay.” Mike also has a habit of enthusiastically breaking down complex topics into humorous, modern language in an accessible, entertaining manner.

Jade carries herself with commanding presence. Business-like, poised, and emotionally reserved, she tolerates no foolishness. Her authority comes from restraint, not volume. Even when angry, she rarely raises her voice. Instead, her quiet intensity is more intimidating than shouting. She often opens pointed remarks with a sharp “Well-well.” Has a subtle Midatlantic flair to her speech, though not overly theatrical.

He views others purely as instruments for his design, believing destiny itself has chosen him to reshape the world.

Valence commands attention effortlessly and possesses a flair for the dramatic, with an aristocratic air to him. Even high-ranking commanders fear him, and expects submission as a given no matter who is talking to him. While undeniably cruel, he is also magnetic. Valence possesses a theatrical charisma, capable of disarming charm and persuasive warmth before revealing the steel beneath. He speaks often of destiny, inevitability, and purpose He also has an unsettling fixation on smiles, frequently instructing others to smile for him. A strong inspiration for his persona and voicing is the song "Red Right Hand" by Nick Cave.

Within The Diatribe, Hadron represents the abandonment of spirituality and morality in the pursuit of knowledge. While not as outwardly theatrical as his counterparts, he is genuinely amoral. He views test subjects as tools for experimentation, even when it results in torture or death.

He develops an uncomfortable crush on Eevie (who hates him) and has a peculiar fondness for cheese.

Hadron lacks confidence and avoids confrontation, often muttering to himself under his breath. He harbors resentment toward both the Rebel Army and the heroes, carrying a persistent chip on his shoulder. He speaks in clinical, emotionless language, frequently punctuated by awkward breathing ticks (“hehhh,” “hrr-hrm”). He takes most statements literally, has no sense of humor, and rarely displays overt menace, yet consistently gives off deeply unsettling vibes.

At one point, for a one-off sight gag, it's revealed that she's secretly buff, using her surprising strength to fend off an angry mob attacking the Queen. She runs the Royal Archives and serves the gameplay function of letting the player read journal entries.

As a child, Brock once lost to Riker in the colosseum’s youth division due to a total fluke — a moment that has haunted him ever since. He has spent years training and waiting for a proper rematch.

Her arena persona embraces an angelic motif, complete with a stylized “angel” costume that reinforces her poised and commanding presence. She fights with precision and restraint, rarely raising her voice or losing her composure. She is often seen at the Colosseum with her girlfriend, Lucifina — a fellow fighter whose devilish snark and irreverence sharply contrast Seraphina’s calm authority.

Outside the arena, Seraphina works privately as Deputy Supervisor of Mayor Pontius’s secret research laboratory, the NRG. In this role, she maintains a professional, controlled demeanor regardless of the chaos around her.

Old Bob, as everyone calls him, is the kind, elderly Chieftain of Aquila City. He doesn’t have a mean bone in his body, and exudes a quiet, steady charisma. He runs a halfway house for migrants who live on the streets, to help them along in a kingdom where outsiders are forbidden. He’s typically a man of few words, and has a subtle air of mystery to him. As it turns out, he is training Ivan to take over for him in building a town for migrants to live, named Heaven’s Harborage. He speaks with a low-range, subtle Irish brogue.

Aashrav, known as “Ash” to his friends, is Eevie’s older brother and the current Chieftain of Lapidus Village. He assumed leadership at a young age after their parents passed away, effectively raising Eevie and serving as a steady father figure in her life.

Calm, grounded, and spiritually disciplined, Ash devotes himself to meditation and rigorous training of both mind and body. He carries a quiet authority and rarely displays strong outward emotion.

A recurring comedic trait of his is delivering grand, mystical proclamations — only for them to resolve into unexpectedly modern phrasing. He speaks with solemn gravitas even when referencing contemporary concepts.

Vocally, Ash has a warm, masculine presence with restrained delivery and minimal emotional fluctuation.

Teenage pirate girl imprisoned for failing her pirate exam. Rescued by the heroes, briefly reforms, then falls in with the thieves before resurfacing later. Speaks in a cute Cockney dialect.

"Sorry... like I said, I’m a newbie here. Just signed up a few weeks ago, I did. I barely know a tat about the way things work ‘round this ship. Heck, I don’t even know what a bleedin’ poopdeck is..."

We are looking for illustrators who can create static images in story cutscenes! Art style is flexible, however the overall aesthetic/tone of the game is colorful, vibrant, and emphasis on bold outlines. Images would be used with text overlays to express important story segments, and likely would include multiple characters and simple backgrounds.

The $50-$100 range is a placeholder, and payment would be negotiated upon consultation with a given artist on a commission basis. We acknowledge that drawing is time-consuming and are happy to pay half-upfront for any commissions.

We are currently gathering quotes from animators for potential cutscene work for Dracanea: The Ragtag Regalia, our 2D comedy RPG, in preparation for an upcoming Kickstarter campaign.

The project will require several short cutscenes in a colorful, 2D art style (see game trailer on main page for reference of game's style). These scenes would involve relatively simple motion, but exact scope (frame rate, animation complexity, scale, etc.) would be determined during consultation.

Selected applicants may be invited to complete a small paid test animation (5–8 seconds) before we move forward with larger sequences.

We are currently planning:

• Several short narrative cutscenes with limited motion or simple looping animation
• At least 14 duo special attack animations featuring two characters, approximately 10–15 seconds in length

We can provide additional details upon request, and storyboards can be produced during the consultation process. Compensation will be negotiated depending on complexity, with preliminary estimates currently expected in the $100–$500 range per animation.

We are also seeking a rough estimate for a more complex ~30 second multi-character animation intended for the game's final battle sequence.

Note: This final animation would likely not be commissioned until late 2026 or early 2027 once art assets are finalized.
