Detective Conan (Case Closed) Episode 1 Fandub
Project Overview
INTRODUCTION
Detective Conan Redub is an uncut redub of the original Japanese version of the Detective Conan Anime with a brand new cast, using the original Japanese OST and aiming to stay as true to the original Japanese Broadcast as possible!
PRODUCTION
The series will be released on Google Drive when they're finished. Each episode will be completely re-edited from the ground up, including the sound effects and Original OST from the Japanese version of the show.
AUDITIONING
Interested in trying out for a role? Great! Below you'll find the roles for the episode, each one will have an image, a brief description and some voice lines, naturally. For the actual project, I will be the Episodes for reference to help you figure out how to best do the lines. As far as the actual auditions go, I have a few general things I want to say:
- Provide at least two takes of every line, each take, try to do the line a bit differently.
- Try your best to sound as close to the Japanese VAs as possible
- Clean, unedited audio! Don't add any filters/effects. If you can do it well and need to, you CAN use a bit of noise reduction, but I want to hear your voice unfiltered, also when it comes to the actual production, it'll sound more consistent if I'm processing unedited audio.
AUDITION RECOMMENDATIONS & GOALS
To elaborate on what we're looking for, we've added this section to help you if you are a little lost on what exactly we want out of your audition. When it comes to your voice, you should be able to somewhat match the Japanese performances in Detective Conan. If you need to know what those sound like, you can reference clips on YouTube or you can go back and watch the subbed version of the show, available on Crunchyroll. While getting close to the Japanese is important, what is more important is that your audition has good range. This is because Detective Conan has a lot of powerful and emotional scenes that require said range. Play around with your voice and add improv if you think it will show more of what you can do! Most of all, you should be passionate about this project, because it is ambitious in nature. All in all, have fun with it!

Kogoro has an overinflated sense of his importance and detective prowess to the point where he doesn't investigate why he is suddenly and consistently passing out at crime scenes and solving cases in his sleep with different deductions than he was making while awake. Kogoro is also frequently unprofessional in his work, frequently making sarcastic and blunt comments about suspects or even his clients.
(Angry) Dammit! That stupid kid again!
(Irritated) It's 'cause he's a high school student playing detective that I hardly ever get any jobs anymore!
(Angry) I have to make a living, you know!
Megure is a capable veteran officer who cares much for his underlings, but he is prone to occasional shouting fits whenever something does not go right or when his temper gets the better of him. He also has little patience for fools, but tends to be a bit too conservative, limiting his ability for flexible thinking.
(Neutral, Explaining) Now, Now, Sir. The victim was a guest invited to your party-- President Yamazaki of Yatsubishi Bank! Please have a little patience.
(Concerned, Explaining) So, temporarily taking you and Ran out of the picture, there were 5 passengers total. Passengers A and B in the first row were both friends of the victim.
(Serious) Alright! Take her into custody as the prime suspect!
Ayumi is a primarily naive and innocent little girl who enjoys adventure. She demonstrates courage as time goes on and acts as the group's cheerful spirit. She has an open crush on Conan, even dreaming about marrying him, which makes him uncomfortable.
(Neutral, Excited) That was totally fun! For a big guy, you sure get scared easy, Genta... But the Mystery Coaster should be okay for you two, right?
(Explaining) Now we just get in line for seats! That's what we're trying to find out!
(Excited) Aren't you that high school detective?!
Mitsuhiko enjoys reading science books and takes a scientific approach to problem-solving. He is a smart and well-read first-grader who believes that technology can solve most problems.
(Nauseous) No, it was so totally bad for the heart! Ayumi, we only have enough left for the train back home.
(Scared) Which way is the line?
(Nervous) Those are police cars! We didn't sneak in for free!
Genta is the self-proclaimed leader of the Detective Boys. He loves food, especially braised eel on rice, and can eat more than all the other Detective Boys members combined. When discussions of money come up, Genta tends to think about it in terms of how many eel bowls he could buy. His brash personality, lack of awareness of his surroundings, and tendency to not think before acting often lands the Detective Boys (or at least himself) in sticky situations.
(Nauseous) Let's go home...
(Nervous) Now what do we do?!
(Scared) What was that?! Let's get the heck outta here!
Of the high ranking members of the Black Organization shown, Gin is the most loyal: he follows the boss' orders most closely and virtually never acts against the Organization's greater interests. He is also one of the Black Organization's most dangerous operatives; Conan miscalculating his intelligence, abilities, and speed of response have resulted in several very close calls and awry plans. Gin is a merciless and efficient assassin. He has no compunctions about killing or threatening fellow teammates. Fitting his icy personality, Gin's displayed range of emotions so far is relatively limited. Wearing a threatening smirk, he enjoys hunting traitors, watching the plans he has concocted succeed, and cornering his targets.
(Serious, Irritated) So he's Kudo.
(Irritated) Hurry up, will you? We don't have time for your little detective games!
(Explaining) No. The place is crawlin' with cops. We'll use this. Our organization's latest poison. It won't even show up in autopsies. So long, Detective.
Vodka speaks and acts like a typical mafia or Yakuza type gangster, and he is just as ruthless a killer as his partner Gin. However, he is also more easy-going and trusting than the latter, thus making him more susceptible to traps Conan sets to apprehend the Organization. In addition, he tends to not perform well under stress without guidance from Gin or other characters,.
(Serious, Irritated) Out of way! We're first!
(Serious) Sorry for the wait, Company Director. I know. I rode the roller coaster and checked from above.
(Serious, Nervous) Isn't he that detective, boss?! Want me to take care of him?!
Takanori is pretty rich and really likes living his extravagant life and earn money. His motive for murder was probably because of financial problems with Yamazaki. He isn't subtle in disguising his stuff since he freaked out when Sonoko told him Shinichi was a detective.
(Serious, Irritated) Could you get serious for a moment, Inspector Megure? How long do you intend to detain all of my guests? We don't have any more time to be part of your fruitless investigation!
(Serious, Irritated) Nonsense! it's almost 10 meters to the next window! Jumping from one to the other is impossible!
(Nervous) You must be joking! My leg hasn't even healed yet!
Kishida is the typical Jock jerk character. He's later murdered by Hitomi, his ex-girlfriend, due to him leaving her for another girl.
(Angry) Hey, you! Quit botherin' my pals!
Hitomi is a gymnast who's friends with Reiko, and Kishida's ex-girlfriend. She later murders Kishida due to him leaving her for another girl.
(In Tears) Aiko! And I thought you and Kishida were on good terms... How could you...?
(Shocked, Nervous) W-What are you talking about?! The knife was in Aiko's purse!
(In Tears, Confessing) It was his fault, I tell you! He forsook me! That's right! Long before I met you two in college! So that's why I decided to kill him... where we had our very first date, using the necklace he gave me!
Aiko is Kishida's current girlfriend, she was about to be taken to jail for the murder of her boyfriend she didn't commit, until Shinichi Kudo proves that it was Hitomi that killed Kishida.
(In Tears) Why Kishida?!
(Shocked) No way! I've never seen that before in my life!
(In Tears) N-No! I didn't do it!
(Questions) Do you know him, Hitomi?
(Joking) Plus it'd be impolite to disturb Aiko and Kishida!
(Shocked, Questions) Hitomi, you were going out with Kishida?
Gin and Vodka blackmailed an unnamed company owner who had been smuggling guns for over 100 million yen in cash. After Vodka received the briefcase of cash, he returned the film evidence of the business' gun smuggling. Vodka may have intended to kill the man when the transaction was complete as he began to draw his gun, but it could also have been in response to the company owner's remark the organization does even worse things than gun smuggling.
(Nervous) You're late! I've been waiting for two hours! I came alone, just as promised!
(Nervous) Just hurry and give it to me! Here! I take it you have no objections?!
(Serious, Nervous) Hurry and give me the film! This is all of the film, right?!
(Shocked) Y-Your leg!
