Demon Slayer Abridged
Project Overview
Thank you for your interest in this project! This casting call is for a Demon Slayer Abridged series produced by myself, Captain Echo. When auditioning please keep in mind this project may span for several episodes if all goes well, so be prepared that it will be a commitment.
Requirements:
-An XLR microphone. We take the audio quality of our projects very seriously, and if audio is of low quality, auditions will be rejected.
-A passable recording space (little echo is acceptable and can be treated, but audio that echoes a lot will not be accepted)
-Good communication. We will have to get in contact with you for various reasons, and if we are left with no response for prolonged periods of time, we worry it may slow down the production.

Our version of Tanjiro is not nearly as innocent as his canon representation. He’s more selfish and aggressive, and he puts Nezuko on a pedestal. He’s a premier entrepreneur in the charcoal industry!
Voice wise were looking for something youthful and spirited. Tanjiro will have a lot of lines so be prepared.
(complaining to his mom who doesn’t seem to trust him) But Mom, there are so many different ways to market charcoal nowadays, why wont you let me try to be more entrepreneurial
(giving a sales pitch) Oh it can do that and more, mam! Itll have you looking like a ripe young woman again! Whatever ails you, charcoal can cure it!
(relieved but frantic) NEZUKO! Oh god you really are alive! Lets hurry down the mountain, rub some charcoal in your wounds and go get some help! Everyone else is dead!
Tanjiro’s sister who gets turned into a demon! Despite her appearances, (and Tanjiro’s perception of her) Nezuko can be very forward and crass at times. Once she turns into a demon she will have a bamboo stick in her mouth, so much of her dialogue will be mumbled, but she will still be given some interior monologues.
Nezuko should have higher pitched youthful voice, and also be able to be manage more animalistic growls and snarls. Nezuko will have a variety of ways to speak and make noise, so be prepared for a bit of range of lines.
(very direct, and suspicious since Tanjiro forgets all of their sibling's names except hers) How is it that you never remember any of the other’s names except mine?

Giyu is a very experience member of the demon slayer corps. He intervenes when Nezuko attacks Tanjiro. But hes just like, doing his job dude. Yknow? Hes a very passive and straightforward person.
Giyu should have a deeper voice, and it should be very passive, almost skater/surfer-ish in its tonation.
(annoyed by the fact that Tanjiro moved Nezuko away from Giyu’s attacks) *sigh* Dude come on, why’d you move her?
(nearly had his head whacked off by an axe, so caving to Tanjiro’s demand) Yeah ok dude, you can have your sister back.
(straightforward, giving Tanjiro advice) If youre going to tote around a bloodthirsty demon, I’d recommend training to join the Corps. To protect yourself… and I guess protect her…
A bit overbearing, thinks she’s always right, but a supportive and caring mother regardless.
Voice should be motherly, well-spoken and sweet, but also firm at the same time.
(somewhat condescending, pointing out something Tanjiro hasn’t noticed like its important) You have charcoal all over your face.
(Lecturing Tanjiro) If you cant even clean your own face, how can I trust you to be “entrepreneurial” as you call it. What kind of message do you think that sends to customers?
Tanjiro’s youngest sister. She’s super sweet and innocent and wants to help her big brother with his work.
Looking for a pretty straight forward “little sister” voice.
(trying to convince Tanjiro to take her to town with him) We could go too! We could help you sell more!
(calling out to Tanjiro as he leaves) Make sure to come back in one piece!
Tanjiro’s older younger brother. Strong willed and trying to prove himself.
Looking for a “young boy” voice but a little on the deeper side.
(agreeing with Tanjiro against his mom) I think I’m with big bro on this one, Mom.
(Tanjiro gets his name wrong.) Its Takeo. “Taw-keh-oh”
Tanjiro’s youngest brother. Innocent and naïve. Has one line.
Looking for a “young boy” voice but on the higher pitched side.
(seeing Tanjiro off as he leaves) Be safe brother!
