About The Casting Call

Welcome to this Death Note The a-Kira Story casting call! What this project involves is the dubbing of the short one shot sequel to the manga known as “Death Note”. This is a passion project that I’ve been meaning to work on as of late and have been trying to figure out the best way to go about it. The rest is pretty much history, but of course with trying to make this manga dub a reality, I’ll need the help of other voice actors besides myself as well! Synopsis

Death Note is originally an anime about a character by the name of Light Yagami who does controversial acts that he thinks is justice with the death note. A death note is a book that grants the owners the ability to kill anybody just by writing the name of the victim, throughout the series, you see him find his way out of being accused of being a killer in an intense chase to find who "Kira" (The man killing everyone with the death note). The a-Kira Story is a Death Note one-shot sequel chapter that was released on February 4, 2020, in the March edition of Jump Square magazine. This time featuring a new protagonist by the name of Minoru Tankana all while keeping the same general idea of the previous death note user, but with different ideals.

Audition Requirements


  • Either a USB or XLR mic is required (No laptop or headset mics)

  • Little to no background noise (echos, reverb, the works)

  • Must be willing to join Discord server (put your discord tag beside the audition)

  • 1-2 Takes Per Line (Only do a second take if it's different from your first)

    Hello! So, you might've been wondering why no one has gotten cast as of yet. Well, that's because unfortunately some stuff came up irl during the week of casting and due to that I wouldn't have had the time to work on this project as I would've loved to. This of course lead to this project being cancelled as it would be better than releasing something that was rushed. I hope you all understand and to those who did audition, I'll keep you in mind for other future roles in other projects!

Ryuk is a shinigami from the shinigami world. He is very childish in his respect. He spends his days in the shinigami world bored, until one day he happens to send his death note to the human world and later discovers how entertaining it is to see humans use his death note.

  • (Hungry, Hopeful) I could use this notebook to get some human food again. I'll need a real capable one like Light Yagami if I want to eat well for as long as possible... and it'll be more entertaining that way...

  • (Curious) But your teachers at school said you got first place three years running, that you're the smartest middle schooler in Japan..

Near is a successor of L from the previous anime. He along with l and Mello. He takes L's place for tracking down who the real Kira is, and later down the line tracks who the real Kira is. He possesses a different child-like trait than from L. he plays with toys labeled with names of investigators and suspects. The main ones being him, L, Mello and Kira.

  • (Plainly, Stoic)  Lets call whoever's putting the murder notebook up for auction, "A-Kira".

  • (Curious, lax) When the entire world knows about it, that makes it much harder to just outright use the notebook. Besides.. isn't the more pressing issue at the moment how A-Kira will handle the transaction?

Matsuda's police skills are lacking in experience, and at times, particularly in the beginning of the series, he somewhat impedes the investigation process. Much to the irritation of his peers, his brash attitude can get him into tricky situations, as evidenced by the time he infiltrated Yotsuba and had to fake his own death to get out.

  • (Worried, in a rush) Deputy Commissioner, Ryuk is trying to sell the Death Note!

  • (Confronting) Police! Don't even think about trying to buy Kira's power!

Trump is well trump pffft. In this manga, he offers his wager for the death note, and tries to use that to scare the world. For this I’m just looking for a Donald Trump impression.
