Darkstalkers 3 - Arcade Endings

Project Overview

Darkstalkers 3 is the second sequel in the Darkstalkers series of fighting games by Capcom, originally released in 1997. 




Sadly, this was the last official Darkstalkers game that has been released and the series has been put on a seemingly permanent hiatus. Capcom's Yoshinori Ono, during a panel, revealed a cryptic message reading 'Darkstalkers Aren't Dead'. Later, it was proven this quote referred to the HD re-release called Darkstalkers: Resurrection, however, many fans have also used the quotation for various fan made projects to indeed show Capcom that the fandom is alive and awaiting a 4th game.


As such, I will be doing a fairly small project involving the arcade endings of Darkstalkers 3. The third game is my favorite, and while the characters are voiced in fights, their endings were not. This is my first project attempt.




NOTES: The characters of Donovan, Pyron, and Huitzul did not originally appear in the arcade version of Darkstalkers 3 due to the limited space on the memory board; they will not be added as such. The character of Baby Bonnie Hood/Bulleta does not speak in her ending and will also not be included. Felicia has already been cast, and I will be self-casting as Lilith. Due to changes in translation, Lin-Lin will be referred to as Mei-Ling.






Requirements: 



* Please do not audition with a laptop mic or phone. Additionally, please try to keep all background noise to a minimum.



* Please be respectful of myself, our vocal coach/codirector (angeleyes) and all others auditioning, as well as their submissions. No joke auditions, please. 



* If you are cast, please make sure to have to a Discord. If not, please make sure you're able to check your messages on CCC for your scripts (they are relatively small). However, if there is another way you'd like to be contacted, let me know and I will try to accommodate. Auditions will be open for three weeks (with a possible extension). Afterwards, those who are cast will be given 3 weeks to send in their lines.



* And finally, while some of these characters appear in Marvel vs Capcom games, please do not use those games (or any others besides the original Darkstalkers games) as a reference. For example, please don't audition for Morrigan with a Scottish/Welsh accent; I can't accept it.

The music is the original from 1997 so if it sounds a little grainy quality-wise, it's because it's the original music. Also, I tried to edit out the leaderboad scoring in the top left corner of the videos as a personal choice. However, I was unable to do so on certain videos so if your video has the scorecard in the top left corner, apologies. Finally, the dialogue boxes are automated and proceed on their own, and because the videos weren't voiced originally, sometimes these changes don't exactly match up with the pictures but I did my best to match everything as best as I possibly could.   • Final Reminder

    Hello everyone, another reminder that lines are due on March 18th by 11:59pm. If I do not have your lines (or a request for an extension), you will be uncast and removed from the project so that we may keep moving forward with other projects.   • Update

    As of 11:59 EST, the audition process is closed. Once again, a huge thank you to everyone who auditioned! My co-director and I will make our final decisions on casting, and we will have everything decided by 12:00pm, February 24th. If you are cast, you will receive a CCC private message from me (aensland) that will have your script, deadline, my contact info, and other instructions on how to submit your lines. Thanks everyone! Beautiful, sexy, confident, conceited, and playful, Morrigan may be called many things given that she is a succubus, but she is not necessarily evil despite her heritage as a demon of the Makai realm. Instead she is friendly and approachable, perhaps in part due to her frequent visits to the material world to pursue her hedonistic tendencies. Morrigan is always out to satisfy her hunger and will often shirk her responsibilities as the current head of the Aensland estate to find something more engaging.

Vocal range: medium to medium-high. Tone should be playful and seductive.

Two lesser demons who cared for Morrigan Aensland during her youth. If they were to fail in caring for her in anyway, they would mostly likely suffer the wrath of Belial Aensland, Morrigan's father.


Lucien and Mudo will only have a few lines between them, therefore I would like for them to be voiced by the same person. Please do each line in a different voice/tone, and please feel free to use whichever you like as these two have never been voiced.

  • Lucien: "The Isis ring, it's proof to the master of the Aensland family."  (serious, informative)

100 years ago, he had challenged Belial Aensland for power. He lost the battle and was exiled from Makai for his crimes against its ruler. In his weakened state, he concealed his castle and slept for 50 years. Upon awakening, he encountered and defeated the alien presence known as Pyron. Upon returning to Makai, he learns of Belial's death and begins his new plot of defeating Belial's successor, Morrigan.


Demitri is a mighty vampire lord who shares a bitter rivalry with Morrigan Aensland. Demitri desires to control all of Makai as its ruler. He sees humanity as an inferior race and only cares for their blood, just as well, anyone bitten by him becomes a vampire and his servant.



Vocal Range: medium-low to low. Tone should be confident, boastful, and powerful.

After a century long sleep, Jedah was revived in Makai. He felt concern towards the realm Makai, with nobles fighting each other. Instead of anger, he felt pity towards Ozomu. Jedah had already made up his mind: his complete revival and the cleansing of all souls. For this, a new stage was necessary. A new realm, the Majigen. Jedah is very cool, collected and confident. He has a degree of arrogance, but as a whole, he is focused and patient, all for achieving his goal of saving Makai from a destiny seen by Belial. It is rare to see Jedah express emotion, except in fits of insanity. But even these are subdued by his own calm attitude eventually.


Vocal Range: medium low to low. Should also be able to do a high-pitched laugh. Tone should be slightly crazed at times.

The 12th Pharaoh of a great Egyptian empire. He became Pharaoh at the age of 12. Foreseeing his revival, he had a pyramid and a sanctum created for his return. Five thousand years later, he was brought back to life by a supernatural force when Pyron invaded Earth. After the battle, he traveled five thousand years back in time to fight and defeat the invaders of his empire. Once his kingdom was saved, he heard a voice from the far future. He traveled to the present time and entered the Majigen (a realm created by Jedah). 

Anakaris is a strong willed, prideful person who cares about his people and empire, he holds respects for those in general who care for their soldiers and servants, and dislikes evil rulers and kings.

Vocal range: medium-low. Tone should be fairly monotone with an air of superiority. Feel free to use a voice modifier and feel free to do your own take on his voice.

When Bishamon was looking around in an antique shop for his people, as if drawn by fate, he found a piece of armor and a sword. At this moment, he lost consciousness. When he realized where he was, he was at his house, the armor and sword sitting beside him,with no memory of how he'd gotten it. Some time passed and Bishamon decided to wear the armor and wield the sword. Realizing his mistake, it was too late; the armor was sentient and had gained control of his body. With his mind now corrupted from Hannya, the cursed armor, and Kien, the blood sucking sword, Bishamon went on a killing spree for countless days, all the while seeking for a way to find his freedom.

As a noble and honorable samurai, Bishamon feels shamefully responsible for the countless kills that the cursed sword and armor made him do to innocents. Due to the sword and armor's influence, Bishamon's mind is plagued with darkness as he lusts for more destruction. Despite this accursed power, Bishamon still cares for his beloved wife, Orin, so much that he used every last bit of his strength to stall the armor from striking his wife, giving her the chance to escape with her life.

Vocal range: Bishamon and the cursed armor should be considered two different characters. Bishamon should have a medium range to his voice, while the cursed armor is low. Bishamon's tone should be calm and confident. The cursed armor should sound almost demonic.

On the ceremonial night when Hsien-ko and her sister, Mei-Ling, who were close to becoming Senjutsushi by their master, their village and people were attacked by a group of supernatural beings knows as Darkstalkers sent by Jedah Dohma. After their master was murdered, their mother gave her life to protect them, but because of this, her soul was trapped in darkness. To release their mother's soul from the darkness, Hsien-Ko turns herself into a Jiang-Shi (a Chinese hopping vampire). Mei-Ling turns into a ward to make sure Hsien-Ko doesn't lose control of her darker half that has been building inside her. The two set off to hunt down the Darkstalkers who attacked their people, and help innocent people as a Darkhunter.

Hsien-Ko is a respectful, goodhearted, and honorable person who opposes evil from a supernatural being. She has an intimate interest in men who seek to improve themselves and help others. This is often the reason why she does not have feelings for Lord Raptor. She is very protective when it comes to her family and the relationships she makes with others and dislike those who disregard their own humanity in search for absolute power. There is however a darker side to Hsien-Ko, as she holds a personal grudge to demons and those that hurt innocent people, and is afraid of the jiangshi trying to consume her mind. In moments she doesn't need to fight or in not-so-tense moments she seems to be somewhat clumsy.

Vocal range: medium-high. The ending shows them as children so please be able to a childlike voice as well.

Jon was born to a human mother and werewolf father. His mother was murdered shortly after giving birth to him. He had no contact with his father, who was not even aware that his son was alive. Although he was now alone, he had lived a peaceful life as a human and trained with a half-breed like him who helped him control his supernatural powers. One full-moon night, his master was murdered by a group of bandits, the primal beast within him awoke and he turned into a werewolf and fought them off. The transformation caused him to be shunned from human society. Talbain was determined not to let the his primal instincts consume him. 


Jon's personality is shown to be mostly aggressive and anti-social in most of his dialogue with other characters, but he apparently has a softer side, as shown by a pair of young kids he's shown to be taking care of. He is based off of the Wolfman character played by Lon Chaney, Jr.

Vocal range: medium low. Tone should be aggressive with an occasional softer side.

Lord Raptor (Zabel Zarock)

During his life, Raptor was a successful, if niche, rock star who captivated his audience with his enigmatic voice. Behind the curtains, he was a cultist who incorporated cultic text into his songs, which influenced his audience. During his final live show, he took his own life and the lives of 100 fans. This caught Emperor Ozom's (a power demon) attention who resurrected Raptor as a zombie. He is known as Zabel Zarock in Japan.


Lord Raptor is a very comical character, never taking anything too seriously. He is, obviously, extremely passionate about music as well as knowledgeable. He's often described as shameless, and doesn't care if people think he's "weird". On the battlefield, he rarely shows mercy and is just as flashy offstage as he is onstage. However, his biggest flaw is his ego. Despite his appearance and odd behaviors, Raptor is shown to have respect for anyone as crafty as he is, and even an affection for Hsien-ko (who isn't interested). He also treats his partner, the Makai beast, Le Malta, like a brother.

Vocal range: anywhere from low to high, depending on the voice example. I enjoyed both his Japanese and English VA performances, so I'll list them both. His Japanese VA is high-pitched and demonic sounding, also slightly comedic. His English VA is much lower and has an Australian accent which I believed fit the character (if you are unable to do an Australian accent that's fine, you can still use the English VA as a reference).

She is the leader of the Soul Bee race, a race that eats souls to live. Q-Bee stands for Queen Bee, which is her title, not her name. Their race lived in the lands of the Dohma family, but during the time when Jedah was dead, her race was on the verge of being wiped out. When Jedah was revived and created the realm of Majigen, she noticed the vast amount of souls in the new realm. She headed towards the Majigen to gather souls to fuel her Soul Bees' hunger and her own hunger as well.

Q-Bee is a loyal girl who likes to consume the souls of others. She and her race are followers of Jedah Dohma, and will do anything to please him. She often spies on other people in the dark as a way to gain as much information on humanity and other realms for him. She even tries to ask others to join his side as he can help save everything.

*Q-Bee will only have one line.

Vocal range: high. Feel free to add a filter as Q-Bee is a demonic bee creature who rarely speaks and instead make demonic bee-like noises.

Deep beneath the Amazon lay a kingdom of the 30,000 merfolk. One day, the peaceful aquatic empire was shattered by a tremendous earthquake and volcanic eruption. The Emperor and hero, Rikuo, was the lone survivor. His home destroyed, he was filled with rage and upon discovering that Pyron was responsible for such evil, he vowed to stop him. Upon meeting another survivor, Aqueria, he settled down with her to start a family and rebuild his empire, all the while believing there were other survivors waiting to be found. During one of his searches, one of his sons disappears. He ponders to himself about how one could defend a kingdom if he cannot protect his own family. Believing that his son was sucked into the Majigen, Rikuo heads his way into Jedah's realm.

Rikuo is a caring family member who cares for his people. When it comes to a promise, he always keeps his word to others. He is very smart when it comes to the sea and its creatures. He often finds humans to be very interesting, even to those who seek to perfect nature. He is based off the Creature from the Black Lagoon.

Vocal Range: medium-high. Tone should be kind and caring, fatherly when speaking to his child. Since his VA never speaks words, feel free to do your own interpretation.

Sasquatch

Sasquatch is the most noble of his tribe of Bigfoot that live deep in the Rocky Mountains of Canada. After returning to his village, he finds members of his village have disappeared. In the center of his village was a huge hole. Determined that his fellow villagers have been pulled into trouble, Sasquatch jumped into the hole to help them. In the end, he found out that his fellow Bigfoot went willingly because Jedah offered them lots of bananas (not knowing that he is evil).


Sasquatch is a proud, strong willed, bold creature who cares for his people. He enjoys a good fight and is very friendly to people who help him.

Vocal range: medium to medium-high. Tone should be comical and goofy, possibly even childlike. Since he never speaks full lines, feel free to do your own interpretation. The person who is cast will also voice the other Sasquatch who appear in the ending, preferably with the same voice.

Victor von Gerdenheim

Victor was the creation of a sick scientist Prof. Victor Von Gerdenheim, who lost his life shortly after. Without having an understanding of life and death, Victor interpreted his deceased creator's unresponsiveness as disapproval. Believing that if he proved himself to be strong enough, the Professor would accept him. Victor departed the castle to find challengers to test his strength. Upon defeating many Darkstalkers, Victor returned home, but the dead Professor still did not wake. Instead, the prototype Emily welcomed Victor back. The two lived happily for many years until one night, Emily's ceased functioning. Victor came to believe that if he collected several souls, he would be able to revive Emily. He is based off of Mary Shelley's novel, "Frankenstein".
