Shuichi Saihara, the Ultimate Detective, is the protagonist of the Salmon Team mode.
(Hesitant, nervous) I'm... Shuichi Saihara. They call me the Ultimate Detective, but... I don't have the credentials to call myself a detective yet. I just... happened to solve a case that I came across and... now people call me that."
(Attempting to be motivational) "Some lies can lead the world to hope... Some truths can lead the world to despair... So I don't think anyone can really say which is more right in the end."
(Solemn, emotional) "I won't let your wish...go ungranted.
Kaede Akamatsu, the Ultimate Pianist, is a very optimistic and caring girl, who has a knack for rallying up the group and helping them gain motivation. She is often described as the typical protagonist: dependable and cheerful. She can also be firm with the other characters, and knows when it's time to stop and be serious.
Kaede should have a mid range voice, with a very cheery and upbeat tone. She should also be fairly loud, and firm.
(Pleasant introduction, rambling) "I guess I should start by introducing myself. My name is Kaede Akamatsu. My last name roughly means, 'passionate red maple tree.' It doesn't really fit me, but... I still like my last name."
(Motivational, determined) "Whoever trapped us here wants us to fight each other... So let's show 'em that we're not gonna let that happen! We're not gonna fight each other! We're gonna work together! Okay!"
(Solemn, honest) "With you by my side, I feel like I can stand up to anything. You gave me the courage I need to take on the mastermind. So, please...be more confident. I believe in you, so you should definitely believe in yourself!"
Angie Yonaga, the Ultimate Artist, is a very religious girl, who constantly relies on her god, Atua. She seems incredibly upbeat and constantly cheery with what is going on, but can be quite dismissive with other people and their feelings, throwing them under the bus when it benefits her. Despite claiming to be following the will of Atua, it becomes increasingly apparent that this is merely an excuse to allow herself to do whatever she wants without feeling guilt for it.
(Cheerful introduction) "My name is Angie Yonaga, and I am the Ultimate Artist!"
(Calm) "There is no need to worry. Atua will protect us."
(Overly cheerful and excited) ""Nyahahaha! We're already friends! Even Atua says that we're friends!"
Gonta Gokuhara, the Ultimate Entomologist, is a gentle giant with the aspiration to become a true gentleman. He is always willing to help the others out, to the point where he can be seen as oblivious, and easily tricked. Gonta is also incredibly passionate about bugs, and can grow angered when he suspects someone hates them.
(Introducing, friendly) "Gonta's name is Gonta Gokuhara...Gonta's talent is Ultimate Entomologist. Gonta want to become gentlemen! Becoming true gentleman Gonta's goal!"
(Confused, afraid) "Wait! Gonta never hurt anyone! Not even insect! Gonta telling truth! Gentlemen never tell lies!"
(Motivational, caring) "It's important to smile, too! Smile like Gonta! Smile like gentleman!"
Himiko Yumeno, the Ultimate Magician, is a very relaxed girl, to the point of being considered lazy. Himiko often describes doing everything, even breathing, as a "pain". Despite this, she does grow over time, and learns to be more vocal with her emotions. She is very insistent that she is a powerful mage, and can perform real magic as opposed to tricks. Disagreeing with her on this can cause her to get increasingly angered.
(Introducing, beholding) "Prepare to be amazed, fall to your knees! I am Himiko Yumeno, the Ultimate Mage. ...But I'm officially called the Ultimate Magician."
(Motivated, angered) Nyeeeh! Alright! I'm not gonna say it's a pain anymore! I won't give up! I'll fight alongside everyone and survive!"
(Proud, elated) "Motivation is rushing through my entire body. Hiii hee hee hee! This is the power of hope!"
Kaito Momota, the Ultimate Astronaut, is a very trusting person. When he gets a gut instinct about someone being trustworthy, he immediately believes in them, to the point where he won't even consider that they could do anything wrong. He is very motivational, and knows how to bring out the best in everyone. Even so, Kaito can be slightly silly, and even stupid, at times.
(Introducing) "I'm Kaito Momota, Luminary of the Stars! Even crying children adore the Ultimate Astronaut!"
(Irritated, yet caring) "Shut up! That's just the stupid end result! It's not like you wanted it to go that way! Listen up. Don't apologize for something that's not your fault! It'll just make you feel bad!"
(Motivational) “Sometimes you gotta be a little reckless to make your dreams a reality!”
K1-B0 (Kiibo), the Ultimate Robot, is a fairly serious and polite character. Many of the things he says and does can be considered comical, as he does not quite understand social interaction, and cannot read the mood. Kiibo is very proud of himself, and often brags about his various functions, and how they can help the other students. Despite all of this, he is easily angered by any sort of prejudice against robots.
(Bragging, introducing) "I'm not just any old robot! I am K1-B0, the Ultimate Robot! But please, address me as Keebo!"
(Irritated) "I also have a recording function, I'll sue you later for your hate speech!"
(Serious) "No, it's too dangerous to vote before we arrive at a logical decision!"
Kirumi Tojo, the Ultimate Maid, is very dedicated to her craft. When she serves her "master", she is known to fulfill any request that is humanly possible for her, and will do anything to take care of her master. Around the other students, she is very formal, not letting her outward appearance as a maid falter. She is constantly taking care of them and doing anything they request. As such, she is called "mom" by multiple students.
(Formal introduction) "I am Kirumi Tojo, the Ultimate Maid. Please let me know if you require my service."
(Formal, solemn) “I hold no opinions or desires of which to speak. As a maid, my only desire is to fulfill the desires of others.”
(Angered, determined) "I have...a duty and a responsibility... I must serve everyone and protect them... So I refuse to surrender! They won't forgive me if I do!"
Kokichi Ouma, the Ultimate Supreme Leader, is the main antagonist of the game, and is a very difficult character to understand. As a liar, it is near impossible to tell whether anything he says is truthful. Kokichi is very calm throughout the events of the game, and never shows any signs of fear or remorse for his actions. He is also incredibly childish, and tends to play a lot of "games" with the other students.
(Introducing, bragging) "I'm Kokichi Ouma, the Ultimate Supreme Leader! ...Oh, I'm just the supreme leader of an evil secret organization. That's all. I gotta say, it's pretty impressive. My organization has over 10,000 members!"
(Starts as a joke, then becomes intimidating) "Nishishi... Gonta, you're so gullible. Y'know, if you keep being this gullible... You'll be killed before you know it. Understand?"
(Disappointed, upset) "How rude. I'm always doing stuff for everyone's sake. I'm sure you won't believe me when I say stuff like that, so I'll just keep lying..."
Korekiyo Shinguji, the Ultimate Anthropologist, is obsessed with the so-called "beauty" of humanity. He is fascinated by every aspect of humanity, and is always keen to see more from the people he spends time with. He is fairly aloof and level-headed, even in the intense situations he is put in. Korekiyo is very intelligent, and prefers to take a more logical approach, as opposed to an emotional one. Due to his strange mannerisms, he often makes people feel very uncomfortable, but this does not deter him.
(Introduction) "You wonder, 'Who is this?' Yes... I shall make that clear first. My name is Korekiyo Shinguji... I am called the Ultimate Anthropologist."
(Elated) "Aaah, humanity is truly wonderful. The way you all confront adversity is beautiful."
(Calm, mildly amused) "Kehehe...I only wish to observe the beauty of humanity and witness the depths of its sins. So you've no need to fear me."
Maki Harukawa, the Ultimate Assasin, is a very cold girl, who, at first, refuses to be close to anyone else. She is very serious and hostile, being a girl of few words. Maki doesn't seem to like people, and can be fairly stubborn and uncooperative. However, Maki does develop over the course of the game, and learns to be more open and trusting of the group. She can also be very caring, and looks after others fairly well.
(Reluctant) "Maki Harukawa... Ultimate Child Caregiver. Surprised? I don't look like someone who'd like kids, do I? Well, you'd be right. I don't like kids all that much.
(Serious, cold) "So...you guys mind your business, I'll mind mine, and we'll all agree to avoid each other."
(Emotional) "I've never felt this way before! I've always fought to kill, but...this is the first time I've fought to protect someone!"
(Bragging) "I'm the gorgeous girl genius whose good looks and golden brain will go down in history! I'm the one, the only, the legendary Ultimate Inventor herself - Miu Iruma!"
(Irritated) "It doesn't make you more productive while you sleep, so it was a failure! Just like you two!"
(Nervous) "There's no way we can beat him... And...I can't afford to die here, anyway... Not when I still need to invent something that's gonna change the world! S-So...if you wanna defy Monokuma, do it yourself. But, if it does work out...come to help me, okay?"
Rantaro Amami, the Ultimate ???, is incredibly laid-back and calm, no matter the situation. Despite insisting that he isn't suspicious, he can't help but appear that way, especially since he seems to know something the others don't. He is the one of the few students who can coldly interrogate Monokuma during the chaos. Even so, he is one of the more normal students, even getting overwhelmed by the others' extreme personalities.
(Friendly introduction) "My name is Rantaro Amami. I can't remember my Ultimate talent at the moment... But I promise I'm not a bad guy. Nice to meet you."
(Reflective, determined) "That's the reason I travel the world. I have to find my sister. Everyone tells me that it's impossible, that it's too late now... But until I see her with my own eyes, I will never stop searching for her. No matter how long it takes, I'm going to find her."
(Pleased) "...Thank you. I also want to get out of here soon, to become friends with you all, y'know?"
Ryoma Hoshi, the Ultimate Tennis Pro, is a very serious individual. He is calm, composed and mature, despite his appearance, and does not seem to be too affected by the killing game. Due to his prison sentence, he is often very depressed, and sees little to no value in his own life. Because of this, he offers to sacrifice his own life for the sake of saving the others. Even so, he eventually attempts to search for a reason for living, thanks to his classmates' encouragement.
Ryoma has a very deep and serious voice.
(Solemn, introducing) "Ryoma Hoshi, the man called the Ultimate Tennis Pro, no longer exists. I am nothing more than his empty shell."
(Apologetic) "By the way...I'm sorry. For saying something so uncool like 'I've got no reason to live.'"
(Reflective) "I guess the one who's still got a ways to go is me."
Tsumugi Shirogane, the Ultimate Cosplayer, appears to be quite gentle and simple, but can often be far more passionate when talking about her interests. She often slips references from various anime series into her sentences, and can be quite oblivious when others don't seem to understand. She tends to call herself and everything that she has done "plain", as she considers her achievements much more plain when compared to the other students.
(Introduction) "Oh, my name is Tsumugi Shirogane. I'm the Ultimate Cosplayer. Are you... surprised? I get that a lot, since I'm so plain."
(Hopeful) "We can't afford to lose to despair!"
(Excited, passionate) "However, even if you're just trying it out, you gotta cosplay with love!"
