Danganronpa: S.O.S. (PILOT)

Danganronpa: S.O.S. (PILOT)

Project Overview

Danganronpa S.O.S. is an audio drama based on the Danganronpa franchise. These auditions are only for the pilot episode which will be approximately 25-30 minutes long. Depending on the pilot there is a high likelihood for these roles to be taken forward to the main series. Additionally, unsuccessful candidates may still be considered for future roles in the main series.

Plot Summary: Aboard the S.S. Vorpal, a gargantuan cruise liner, sixteen Ultimate Students’ lives are thrown into chaos as their education in the Ultimate Talent Cultivation Plan is transformed is thrown into the chaos of a despair-filled killing game.

Expectations: Due to this being an audio drama, high audio quality and vocal performance is a must. Cast members are expected to have their own recording space and equipment that will produce clear and workable audio with minimal noise. All voice actors must be over 18.

Workload: Expected workload varies from character to character, but for the pilot it’s around 15-20 lines per character, with the exception of Kokoro Uehara.

Deadlines: Actors are expected to work to a deadline, which will be set once all the roles are cast. Currently, it is expected to be around 4-5 weeks from the first day of recording, to allow a release in early November. The team is of course happy to provide some leeway on this depending on circumstances.

Thank you for your time, I'm looking forward to hearing your auditions!

  • Episode 2 Casting Call

For those following this project, I'd like to inform you all that our second round of casting has begun! We have nine more roles available for Episode 2, and I'd love to hear your takes on them. If you're interested, please take a look here:

  • Deadline Today + Casting Information

    Hello all!

Thank you so much for all your auditions! It's truly amazing to see such a big and welcoming response to our new Fangan, and it's been an absolute pleasure listening to your interpretations of the characters!

Please note that auditions will be open until Midnight UTC today! I had some issues with the time settings, so it was previously listed incorrectly. If you've got any last minute submissions, it's not too late and we'd love to hear from you!

In terms of casting, we will be doing our final listens and selections tomorrow and will likely be reaching out to successful applicants on Monday via Discord or CCC itself.

It's truly a shame that I can only cast a few of you wonderfully talented people, but please remember that less than half the cast of Danganronpa S.O.S. appear in the pilot, and the rest will need casting for episode 2. There will be 9 more roles available for Episode 2! So I hope to see some of you return for that block of casting in about a month or two.

Additionally I will be contacting certain actors and requesting them to audition for Episode 2 specifically, as there were a great many of you that made an impression with your performance, but didn't quite work for the specific characters given here, so be on the lookout for those DMs.

That's all for now, I hope you'll all give Danganronpa S.O.S. a watch when it comes out. We'll be posting frequent updates to our Youtube and other social media platforms, including character trailers that will formally announce the voice cast!

Thank you all for your time,
    Banje - Director/Head Writer

Kokoro is defined by her boundless optimism. She’s limitlessly upbeat and kind, always seeing the best in others. • (Slightly self conscious, but trying to make the best first impression) I’m Kokoro Uehara, and technically, yeah, I’m an Ultimate. The Ultimate Hope to be exact! Though that title doesn’t really sit right with me, so you can consider me just Kokoro!

  • (Trying to reassure the others and figure out the situation) Hey! Hey! Let’s just calm down and figure this out. None of us remember getting on the boat, half of us are missing and there’s no sign of any teachers or staff. That’s everything, right?

  • (Filling an awkward silence and attempting to befriend another character) So... How about we get a head start on the mixer? Get to know each other a little? Let’s start simple; What’s your favourite colour?

  • (Confident, friendly) Ji-Yeong Park, Ultimate Manager. Following careers is my whole thing.

  • (Attempting to charm Masayuki) That’s a real shame though. If you ever wanna get back in the Ultimate Talent game, maybe we can work together? It’d be a shame for a man with your potential to go to waste.

  • (Concerned, attempting to calm the others) Alright, let’s not get too worked up about it. They could just be keeping stuff off limits for now. There’s bound to be some kind of explanation.

Ultimate ???

(17 Lines)

Character Bio: ??? is an enigma through and through. Their name, gender and yes, even their voice, go totally unknown. For this reason, multiple actors will be cast for this role and used to create a composite voice that will then be filtered.

Despite their identity being utterly unknown, their personality is very clear. ???, also known as Enigma (Iggy for short) is an agent of chaos and a disruptor throughout the class trials, attempting to perpetuate the killing game and keep anyone from getting too comfortable on the S.S. Vorpal.

Voice Type: Feel free to do whatever you want with this role so long as it suits the character. Ever-changing accents, pitches and tones only add to the mystery and give us more to play with when creating the character’s unique vocals.

  • (Casual) Mystery is kinda my whole deal. I’m the Ultimate… Let’s say Ultimate Enigma.

  • (Threatening, but still casual) Trust me, asking questions like “What am I?”, “Who am I?”, that’ll do you more harm than good.

  • (Stoking the fires of chaos during the Killing Game) Desperation, isolation, straight up cabin fever, there’s a lotta ways you can go crazy in here; And now that the idea’s in our heads...

  • (Coming down from an argument, amused it happened to begin with.) I guess we had that whole debate for nothing, eh? (Pause) I’m Jackie Taylor, Ultimate Spelunker.

  • (Irritated, appealing to a third party to solve an argument) You’re digging an eight by twelve hole in wet conditions. Do you use a flat blade or a spade?

  • (Anger and confusion toward Monopengu) Where’s the rest of the class? What the hell did you do to them?

Ultimate Idol

(13 Lines)

Character Bio: Kojiro presents himself as an archetypal upbeat but somewhat airheaded idol, a persona that has earned him fans worldwide. Underneath this however Kojiro is a deeply anxious person, an anxiety that is only worsened by the killing game, driving him to look for support in his fellow Ultimates, ironically pushing him further into his persona as he tries to gain their approval.

  • (Cheery, upbeat) Kojiro Nakusawa. Ultimate Idol. Although you probably know that already.

  • (Judgmental. Slightly catty) Ultimate Ex-Ultimate? That’s a weird way to define yourself. Surely there’s more to you than all those ex-talents?

  • (Rebuking the idea of living on the ship forever to avoid the killing game, extremely distressed) Get through this? To what end? To die forgotten in the middle of the ocean? No thanks.
