Project Overview
Hello, my name is Shir/Shiro. This is the official casting call for Cupheadronpa!
Cupheadronpa is a Cuphead X Danganronpa crossover that takes place 2 years after the events of Cuphead (the game, not the show) where Cuphead and Mugman freed the Devil's debtors from his contracts to steal their souls.

All credit goes to the creator and everyone who helped with this project originally. THIS project that we're doing is specifically a fan project of Cupheadronpa. I own no rights to this work, but have gotten permission to create a dub for this.
If you're new to both original games or this fangan, I recommend checking them out! But to briefly describe, Cuphead is a platformer boss rush game where you collect contracts for the Devil, as you too, owe your soul to him. Danganronpa on the other hand is a death game, where you have to kill someone and get away with it to escape the facility you and other people are trapped in.
I've always wanted to make a dub for this, and now since Cupheadronpa is getting a rewrite, I feel now is a better time than ever to spread love for this story that it deserves. To clarify, it is unfinished likely until the rewrite. Our job is just going to be to give the characters and story we have the passion the writer gave with our voices!
I will be auditioning as well, but I'll also recruit a second director to help me with this project, and to further help choose roles with zero bias. Everyone has a fair shot, I just want to communicate that.
If you want to read the fangan, which I highly recommend, be warned, you will need to scroll down to avoid spoilers, Instagram's format is weird. I plan to make a chronological format that's convinient for those casted.
This may be getting a rewrite, but its still such a beautiful project, one of passion and joy. I'd love to further bring it to life until the rewrite is complete, and I'd love anyone who shares my passion for voice acting to join me!
Disclaimer; there are some existing voice acted segments in this fangan, like closing arguments. We will not replace the already voiced segments such as these, but you do not need to match the voices of the existing VAs. You have total creative freedom with voices, do what fits you. You can also audition for as many roles as you please, have fun!
This doesn't need to be professional quality, but do try to have as clear sounding audio as you can.

Cuphead is one of the protagonists. He is a teacup. It had been a couple years since the events of his game, with the ending where he and his brother Mugman rescued the debtors from their contracts with the Devil. As far as he knows, it had been peaceful since. He's going to discover that not everyone has been saved, and life is not nearly as simple and black and white as that.
He has a friendly and carefree personality, very optimistic and determined to push through any challenge. But as the killing game progresses, and he loses more and more of his friends, he grows more and more bitter and cynical.

Mugman is a supporting role, and Cuphead's brother. He is a mug. He is much more gentle and cautious, in contrast to Cuphead's rash and carefree nature. He tends to think a lot more, being careful in every action he takes, as well as being a lot softer, prone to react more emotionally to hardship. But like Cuphead, he is a kind soul who does his best to help. The killing games takes more of a toll on him though, making him struggle to really be his usual sweet self.

Dice is a large supporting/antagonistic role, eventually becoming one of the protagonists.
He is a witty, sarcastic, sassy diva who takes no shame in saying what needs to be said, but still, he keeps his cards close to his chest. He just wants bygones to be bygones, having been absent ever since the events of the original game, having taken place 2 years prior. In this killing game, he reunites with old friends like the Casino Crew, but is also forced to face older enemies, like Cuphead and Cagney. Due to his heavy antagonistic role in the original game, he immediately has a huge target on his back. Most are *convinced* he's the mastermind of this game, forcing him to keep his distance. His isolation quickly spirals him into insanity as the game progresses, only having the Casino Crew to keep him grounded.

(calm but bitter) Now, if you'll excuse me, I'd rather not spend the rest of my night in a room full of hypocrites who all want me dead.
Chips starts as a smaller supporting role but grows into a larger role, even becoming one of the protagonists later on. He's a member of the Casino Crew.
He is a stack of poker chips. This cowboy's very stubborn, unconfident, and impulsive. For being a poker dealer, he has a terrible poker face. Being such a truthful person, it's clear when he's lying or hiding something. Even though he's bad at it, he hides behind a faulty mask and a smile. He ultimately desires to help those he cares about, neglecting his own needs. He's determined to wear this mask and act like he's okay, so he can help everyone else. He's very selfless. Despite his own inability to hide things, he knows when to lock in, insanely observant in turn of the lies others try to hide. No one escapes his keen eye, just as he can't escape his own unrealistic expectations on himself to help others.

Wheezy is a larger supporting role. He's part of the Casino Crew.
He is a cigar. He's a chill jokester who knows when to be serious, though often acts nonchalant in serious situations. He's like the fun uncle of the Casino Crew, but knows when to put his foot down. He's especially rough with Dice, who's his closest friend. They're the kind of friends who playfully bicker and insult one another. He develops a deep relationship with Chips, showing more of his softer side. He's literally like a big teddy bear who curses like a sailor. When he begins to see that those he trusts aren't who they seem, he learns to trust his own gut the most. He also occasionally pops his lid when he's in a heated mood, being more mean in those moments.

She is a roulette wheel. She prioritizes empathy, and caring for those in need. Though she keeps the peace, she can have a blunt bite when she needs to. Her way with words and her demeanor are as elegant as her dancing. Although, she seems to not fully know who truly deserves the kindness and empathy she brings.

Hopus is a smaller supporting/antagonistic role. He's part of the Casino Crew.
He is kooky and playful, with a childlike innocence. But this rabbit is far from innocent. Behind his bright energetic eyes is a cynical view of the world, and a hint of manic sinister bloodlust. He has some screws loose, but deeply clings to the rest of the Casino Crew. They're like family to him. He may get easily distracted under normal circumstances, but when he is set on something, there's no changing his closed mind. And the moment something involves his family, this mindset knocks him down like a house of cards.
Feel free to improvize. Add in laughter when you feel it fits, some pizazz. Don't be afraid to literally go insane. Hopus sometimes likes to be extra even when he's in a bad mood. Hell, he is extra. Go ham.

Cagney is a supporting, sometimes antagonistic, role. He is a carnation flower. He is a loud and grumpy hothead. He startles easy, and has a tendency to get into fights a LOT. 'Fight' is his instinct in fight or flight. Despite how prickly he is, he aims to prioritize others' safety over his own, especially his best friend Hilda, and the Cup brothers. He can also have a more playful side when he occasionally lowers his ever so high guard. Still, he tends to let his anger and paranoia get in the way of his ideals. Additionally, he has history with Dice, being VERY bitter toward him in particular.

Hilda is a supporting role. She's often pretty calm and reasonable, but can be blunt and cold when she needs to be. She enjoys relaxing after a hard day, and is quite good at helping others do so too. She never hesitates to jump in and defend those she cares for, like Cagney and the Cup brothers. Hilda helps cool Cagney down when he's aggravated, while he often helps her loosen up from her often distant nature. He's her closest friend. Although, for how logical and composed Hilda normally is, her instincts to protect those she cares for blinds her from her usual logic.

She is made of sweets. She readilly asserts herself as a leader type person, with almost everyone quickly accepting her as this role. She's as dainty and graceful as you'd expect a Baroness to be, but she has her unhinged side, as well as some repressed rage. She gets easily annoyed by some people, but she bottles it all up. It's all heavily internalized and accumulating rage inside a sugary sweet smile that she can only contain for so long before it explodes. Though, she's one of those people who gets eerily calm when they're pissed off.

Beppi is a small supporting role. He's part of the Carnival Trio.
He is a balloon. He's a total silly goofy guy, just wants to have a good time. Hes also very innocent, and has little to no social filter. He has a tendency to not read a room. And when things stop being fun, he ceases to function, falling into complete denial. He copes with just wanting to have fun, to escape the horrors the killing game brings. This literal balloon guy is not fragile, far from it, but he needs a lot of time to recover when something pops his heart.

He is a genie. He's cool as a cucumber, totally leniant. He loves watching chaos and gossip unfold, as long as it's harmless. He may be a bit emotionally oblivious. He doesn't right away realize just how much he relies on the Carnival Trio to make decisions for him. As a genie, he lacks initiative for himself, always doing things for others when asked. When Beppi and BonBon don't know what to do, he is just as stuck. Maybe even more aimless than them both, due to his struggle to choose for himself. He'll either end up totally stuck, or learn to take initiative for himself.

Cala is a small supporting role. She is a mermaid/siren. She's been given legs for the sake of being able to walk in this killing game. Even with them, she feels deeply out of place, a true fish out of water. She overly relies on others, moreso lingering in the back while they make the hard decisions, too shy to give her own thoughts. It's a bit of a problem that she grows aware of; unintentionally making others do work for her, until she'll learn to help how she can.

Sally is a small supporting role. She's very sweet and optimistic on the outside. She frequently does what she can to keep the group morale up, organizing group activities and socializing every day. But deep down, she despises herself. This performative mask of hers cracks from time to time. Her kindness never falters, even when she truly believes it isn't real, that she's faking it. She's an actress, after all.

Briney is a small supporting role. He's very much a group peacekeeper mixed with a fun, hardworking guy. He often helps others with heavy lifting and helps with morale boosting. He quickly bonds with many of the others despite his roughness, blunt but kind. But even his heart of steel can be taken down by a pegleg in this killing game.

He's a gruff and hearty pirate, though feel free to add your own spin to it along with this. Medium to medium low.

Kahl is a supporting role. Calculated and composed. Stubborn. Constantly onguard. When he sets his mind on a technical theory or hypothesis, he does not give up until he figures it out. He's focused until his workaholic tendency gets the better of him, working himself to exhaustion with his tunnel vision. He literally will not stop working until he physically can't anymore.
Voice headcannon is any. I have no idea what to do with him. He seems to be around middle aged. He's a mad scientist, yes, but in this killing game, he's intensely focused for most of the time.

(inspired mad scientist mode) Its blueprints are still in progress, but this will work, certainly. Do you know how much we can make with a constantly resupplying workshop? Just organize it around a bit, and... (silly evil chuckle) ...we can take over all of Inkwell!
(werner pronounces his own name as verner verman, pun on vermin)
Werner is a supporting role. He is a mouse. He's as stubborn as Kahl, maybe more. Unlike Kahl, he wears his heart on his sleeve, maybe to a fault. And his time in the military taught him how important hard work is, so he is endlessly dedicated no matter how much the killing game beats him down. But even he wonders how long he can keep going.
German is Werner's first language. He will sometimes instinctively speak it a bit, and has, at minimum, a slight accent. It changes in intensity depending on his emotions. It's highly recommended to know at least some German for this role.

Cuppa is the killing game host.
Childlike, innocent, naive, eager to start the game. They're a broken cup. At first, Cuppa does not know the game they're hosting is real, believing the participants are playing it for fun, until the killing starts. Slowly, they break more, and grow more desensitized as the game progresses, unable to do anything to stop it, despite it being their game. Each chapter, they continue to spiral.
Voice headcannon. Nonbinary. They're childlike, playful and friendly. High masc or low fem, or adrogynous. Any works, but the characters at first mistake them as a he. Possibly close to Hopus' age.
They're one of the youngest characters.

(snap, on edge) WHAT?! What do you WANT?! I'm fine! I'm-- (they catch themself, breathe. they now speak irritably) I'm fine. Just-- I need a moment. (they're asked if they're sure, they snap again) YES I'm SURE, just make the fucking food!
This is a huge project and I could use a set of extra hands to help me manage it, especially when it's time for the cast to be chosen and beyond.

I'm not tech savvy, I'll need help editting voice and audio to video, basically using each part of Cupheadronpa as a sort of slide show, like how it is on Instagram but as a video. I'm primarily working on it with CapCut, it's what I know, but I'm sure there's an easier and more professional way to do it with more people.
