Project Overview

Hello there! This thread is for the casting call for my Case Close/Detective Conan fandub project. We're picking up right around where the English dub left off, with Japanese episode 126. 


This will be directed by castingcall.club's own DeltaLito, and Produced by me. 



'Case Closed' centers around Jimmy Kudo, a brilliant high school detective who often works with the police, assiting them in solving difficult cases. During an investigation, he is attacked by members of a crime syndicate known as the Black Organization, who force him to ingest an experimental poison and leave him for dead. However, rather than killing him, the poison transforms his body into that of a child. Adopting the pseudonym Conan Edogawa and keeping his true identity a secret for fear of retaliation were the Organization to realize he is still alive, Kudo moves in with his childhood friend Rachel Moore and her father, Private Detective Richard Moore (both of whom are oblivious to his real identity). Throughout the series, he tags along on Richard's cases, all the while searching for the men who poisoned him, hoping to find a cure to return him to his true body. 


I plan on uploading the project so that it can be viewed by everyone, because there's no fun in it if no one ever sees it! I am in talks with several different english dub anime sites, all of whom are interested in hosting us. Additionally, we will be using the Americanized names for this dub, for continuity sake


Please, before auditioning, take a moment to listen to the original English voice dub. While we are not looking for actors who sound excactly like the originals, we ARE looking for a similar sound, intonation, and speech pattern. We want you to create your own version of the character while maintaining YOUR interpretation of them.

Female. 7. Very high pitched female child voice Conan Edogawa's friend and classmate. Amy was the sole female member of the Junior Detective League before Anita Hailey was recruited. She has a crush on Conan, which often makes him uncomfortable. She is a naive and innocent little girl who shows courage from time to time and acts as the team's cheerful spirit. Amy is fiery, always ready to solve a new case, and never fails to put the boys in their place. 

  • That’s it! No more being nice! Now we’re gonna have to force him to be friends with us!”

  • Conan….? (scared) Conan, there’s something back here… it’s…. CONAN, IT’S SOMEONE’S HEAD!

  • It says my soulmate’s name begins with a ‘C’! (giggles) Conan, let’s try yours next!”

Male. 40s. Low voice, gruff, years of smoking. A veteran police officer who has been working with Jimmy Kudo (prior to his transformation into Conan) and Richard Moore. He always wears his hat to hide an old scar which reminds him of a special case from twenty years ago, during his early police days which involved his wife. He is grizzled and tough, and unrelenting in his pursuit of the truth.

  • Detective Moore, what a surprise seeing you here. Do you ever think it’s strange, that wherever you go, people tend to turn up dead?

  • According to this itinerary, Mr. Thomas was out of the country when the murder happened. I agree that he’s got the motive, but he has an airtight alibi. There’s no way it could have been him!”

  • Richard used to be my partner… and he was a crackshot. Better than I could ever hope to be but, after that day… I don’t know if I could pick up a gun again either. It’s not something you need to worry about. Your dad’s going to be okay.

Male. 38. Slightly nasal, higher medium adult voice. Almost a transcontinental accent. Rachel's father and a private detective. Due to Conan often knocking him unconscious and impersonating his voice to solve cases, Richard has become well known as a skilled detective, and despite having no recollection of his “solving” the cases, he takes great pride in his “genius”. Because he appears to be tired or sleeping (due to being knocked out) when solving a case, he is often referred to as "The Sleeping Sleuth". Before becoming a private detective, he worked as a police officer under Inspector Meguire. Despite his irresponsible ways, he cares deeply for his daughter and Conan, and at times displays his sense of honor and strict ethics.


  • You're right, old pal. I'll never understand, no matter the reason, what drives someone to murder. And I don't think I want to.

  • Oh yeah, you've got a perfect alibi. That is, if Jamie really died at three o'clock this afternoon. You're right that based on her body's rigidity and the way she had stiffened all the way to the toes, I assumed that she had been dead at least seven hours. But there are exceptions to this rule, aren't there?

  • (To Conan) Shut UP, you stupid, meddling brat! Nobody asked your opinion! Outta my way.

Male. 8. Deep child male voice, very nasal, raspy, bit of a lisp (optional). The overweight, often dim-witted, self-proclaimed leader of the Junior Detective League. He loves food and can eat more than all the other Junior Detective League members combined. Even though he can be intimidating, he is actually very kind, and is shown to go out of his way for friends friends. Both he and Mitch have a crush on Amy, and they both envy Conan since she likes him.

  • My mom said that if you even leave a bit of rice behind, the gods will punish you by taking Masked Yaiba off the air!

  • Because I’m the leader, and I say that we’re following this case! So either get with me, or get out!

  • I’m gonna die if I don’t eat. I’m so hungry. I think I’m going to starve. It’s BEEN AN HOUR, AMY.

FEMALE. 8. High female voice, very energetic, overbearing. Theo's younger sister, and the youngest member of the theatre troupe. She attends Teitan Elementary with Conan, Amy, Mitch, and George, and seems to have a bit of a crush on Conan. She is a fiery ball of energy, and enjoys bossing others around.

  • I’m technically his little sister, but since he’s disaster at everything, I’m basically his mom. Nice to meet you!

  • I’m in Class C. But Conan looks a lot like my brother did when he was a kid! I asked the girls in my class and they told me his name! I’m so excited! (to Conan) I never thought I would have the chance to be friends with you!

  • Hey Mr. Crane, open up! Ugh. Lazy old man is still sleeping, but I’m going in! Mr. Cra- (SCREAM)

Male. 17. Higher Medium, teen male vocal range. Sharp, witty, sarcastic. A brilliant high school detective who solves difficult cases for the police. During one of his investigations, he is attacked and forced to take an experimental poison by a member of the Black Organization. However, due to a rare side-effect, he shrinks to the form of a young child. In order to keep his true identity a secret, he now goes under the alias Conan Edogawa and pretends to be a real child to throw off suspicion while he secretly solves cases. He loves his childhood friend, Rachel Moore, but cannot confess his feelings or reveal his true identity in order to protect her.


  • My name is Jimmy Kudo, a high school detective. But to the world, I'm Conan Edogawa, an alias I was forced to assume after an experimental drug reverted me back to childhood. Now I fight crime with Richard Moore and his daughter, Rachel, armed with the knowledge that one truth will prevail.

  • That's right. The perpetrator made his escape by moving window to window, before anybody who heard the victims scream had a chance to rush over here. That's why there are no footprints outside the window. It's a simple feat, but that wouldn't occur to you unless you knew the unique construction of this mansion, and there's only one man who could have moved inside the house without arousing suspicion at that hour.

  • (In pain) I can’t shrink again… I have to tell her… with my own voice, from my own mouth… I have to hold her… I have to tell her how I really feel.

Female: 17. High pitched, valley-girl esque teen voice. Rachel Moore's best friend. She comes from a wealthy family with a high social status, although she does not flaunt this, preferring to be an outgoing social girl who chases after and flirts with attractive boys. When Richard is unavailable, she is usually the person Conan knocks out and impersonates to solve cases instead, to which she sometimes thinks she too is a brilliant detective.


  • Oh, come off it! We all know that you wish it was Jimmy you were going out into the woods with!

  • I’ve failed! This vacation was supposed to give me a perfect tan! I can’t go back to school looking like… like this! I look like Frosty the Snowman slipped in white paint!

  • I never knew, but I guess I really am a brilliant detective after all! Some things just come more easily for the beautiful, what can I say?

Male. 8. High pitched child male voice. stereotypical science nerd sound (typically played by a female) A friend and classmate of Conan, Amy, and George, who enjoys reading science books and takes a scientific approach to problem solving. One of the founders of the Junior Detective League, he is often the one to take initiative in a case, and tends to be Conan’s right hand man. He is infatuated with Amy, and later Anita Hailey. He is a smart and well-read first-grader who believes that technology can solve most problems.

  • This walkie talkie can only pick up frequencies in a one mile radius, so the kidnapper has to be close!

  • Oh please, George, you can’t catch a criminal. You couldn’t even catch a cold.

  • The Junior Detective League is on the case! We’re going to be famous!”

  • Is something missing from that desk? The room looks like a twister hit it.... do you think it was a robbery?

  • So just because I look like this Edo Kid, I’m automatically the killer? This is a joke, right?

  • Embezzlement is not small crime, but is it really something Theo would kill someone for?

MALE. 35. Gruff, deep, adult male voice. The script writer for the troupe, he is a domineering, cruel man who has no trouble physically and emotionally abusing those he perceives as weaker than himself.

  • (Smug, malicious. He's just physically beaten Theo) Hm. We were just having a little disagreement, that’s all.

  • Yeah, it’s about the child thief from the Edo Era, about 400 years ago. He’s the main character.

Male. 18. Medium teen male voice, very smooth, charming. Newly appointed Director of the traveling theatre troupe. Despite being a fan (especially young female fan) favorite, he is under a lot of stress, and it is beginning to show. Kind, genuine, charismatic and charming.

  • Yeah, two years ago, when my dad was the Director. But I was just an actor back then, so there wasn’t as much press on it. He died a year ago, from cancer. After he died, only half of the troupe stayed with us. I really hate to admit it, but things haven’t been so great for us since he passed.”

  • Sorry about that. He’s just upset because he doesn’t have the final script for the show. With a show like ours, things change right up until the last minute, so this always happens.”

FEMALE. 22. Sweet sounding adult female voice. The leading lady, she is a talented gymnast, though is unsure of her acting ability.

  • We were hired because both of us were on our high school’s gymnastic team, but I’m really not much of an actress.

Male. 7. Jimmy Kudo’s shrunken form. In order to protect those he loves, Jimmy took on the pseudonym “Conan Edogawa”, and now lives as a child. In an effort to get closer to the Black Organization that poisoned him, Conan moved in with Rachel and Richard, hoping to use Richard’s Private Detective Agency as a means of investigation. However, due to Richard’s frequent incompetence as an investigator, Conan has taken to using several devices invented by Doctor Agasa in order to impersonate Richard and solve cases under his name, such as a voice-modulating bow tie, sneakers that improve the strength of his pick, and glasses that having a tracking device built in.

  • Thanks to an unknown side effect of a nearly lethal poison, I have been transformed from teenage super-sleuth, Jimmy Kudo, to pint-sized gumshoe, Conan Edogawa, hunting for my grown-up body. With a keen eye for details, one truth prevails.

Female. 16. Teen female vice, slightly more mature than her age. Jimmy Kudo's friend since elementary school. She loves Jimmy but is afraid to admit her feelings, and denies their relationship whenever the conversation is brought up. Since his disappearance, she often worries for his safety and is patiently awaiting for his return. As captain of the karate team and a regional champion, she is able to fend for herself physically against attackers, and often threatens Jimmy with physical violence when he angers her. Rachel spends most of her home life looking after Conan and her father, and hopes that her father and mother can reconcile their separation.


  • You're always gone when I need you the most, and when I do hear from you, all you do is call. And then when you finally show up, you disappear without even saying goodbye. Every time... every time... always, always, leaving me behind. Alone. Why don’t you get it? I love you, Jimmy!

  • That voice… the way he thinks, the way he talks. The gestures. It’s all Jimmy!

  • Would you just shut up about Sherlock Holmes already? Enough with the detective talk! I was really looking forward to coming here with you, Jimmy… why can’t you see how I feel about you? (pause before laughter) What are you getting nervous about? I was kidding! How can you expect to be a great detective when you fall for silly pranks like that?

  • Nowadays, if you can’t do everything, no one seems to pay attention. I grew up as a gymnast, who would have thought it would make me a better actor?
