Captain America: The New Frontier

Captain America: The New Frontier

Project Overview

Captain America: The New Frontier is a story about Steve Rogers, and how through dedication and determination, becomes one of the most legendary figures of the Marvel Universe. Rejected from enlisting into the Allied Armed Forces, Steve finds himself being accepted into a program called the Brooklyn Project. With his best friend, Bucky Barnes, by his side and the newfound love of his life, Peggy Carter backing him up, out of the shadows of the second World War rises -- Captain America!

Howdy! I'm VHS, the director and writer of this story. This project has been a passion piece of mine for almost 4 years, and I've finally gotten the courage to make this a full-on audio project. This is a 3-act story, and I've only completed act one. With my friends at our studio, Terrabyte Studios, hopefully we can use this to bring in an audience and continue this story with anticipation in mind! This will also hopefully be the beginnings of a Marvel Universe, so any help to furthering that would be amazing!

This project does have some requirements in mind;

  • Must be at least 17+ to partake
  • Please put your Discord in the submission, or, if you prefer, just DM the one I've put in my social links
  • Please have a pretty good microphone situation! Little to no background noise as much as possible.
  • Please also be kind and cordial -- we're all in this together, but being hateful or spiteful gets us nowhere. Harassment will not be tolerated.
  • Deadlines are pretty important, but I'm sure you know that.
  • Have as much fun as you can, and don't be afraid to chat and shoot questions around!

(Oh, and the deadline listed here is not real, but around that time, we'll hopefully have some good footing on the project.)

Latest Updates

  • It's closing time!

So, we've got all our roles cast! Just need some additional ones filled and we're good to go. I really have to say, I thank all of you SO so much. I know I've said it ad nauseam, but I really mean it. It means a hell of a lot to have folks even remotely interested in something, let alone a Captain America audio drama. With so much of the internet dedicated to folks like Spider-Man and others, it feels good that anyone has any interest in this. Hopefully, people will be interested in listening in as well! For those that weren't cast in the roles they auditioned for, all is not lost! Please, do not be afraid to reach out to me if you still want to be a part of this project. Like I said, I still have additional roles that need filling! Please reach out, I'd love to work with you. And with that, I bid you adieu. Have a fantastic now, and all the love in the world goes to you. Thank you.
  • Another role cast, Terrabyte update

First, before I say anything about the role that was cast, I wanna give a humongous thank you to the folks who auditioned for this role -- for this project in general! It really means a lot to me, seriously. So, the role that was cast was the role of George J. Maxon, an American advisor for HYDRA. I was personally approached and recieved an audition for this role in private messages, and he just nailed it. Not to disrespect anyone who auditioned for this role -- you all did amazing jobs! (such good jobs, that i had to like, take a while to figure out casting, lol.) I'd still really love to have you involved in this project, so if you are, please let me know in PMs. In other news, Terrabyte has begun to shift a full focus on this project, so we hope to get some teases and a release date sooner rather than later! Other than that, I hope you're having a great now! (still trying to figure out if that statement works....)
  • Another another casting update :0

Got a couple more under the belt -- Dum Dum Dugan and Nick Fury Sr. are now gonna be played by Aaron Weatherford and James Spruill, the dynamic duo behind "Batman: The Dark Detective"! wooot!! :0
  • Got another role cast!

This one was a doozy, lemme tell you. I had some amazing auditions for Bucky Barnes, some genuinely fantastic ones. And I'd love to work with them in future projects, or even this one! There's still some shoes that need filling, so hopefully anyone who hasn't gotten their exactly desired role could be willing in playing a different one if need be! If not, I totally understand. This casting has been tough because it was just all great, but, as of now, Wyatt Bowden has been cast as Bucky Barnes! :)
  • Casting excitement!

I can't help but be pretty damn excited right now. Got some more roles cast -- Peggy Carter (agentxkentucky), Howard Stark, and Abraham Erskine (Gantudubs)! :0 I just want to say, all of the auditions that have been sent in have been amazing and I am so honored to receive any at all. Thank you so so so much to all of those who have auditioned so far! If a role you wanted was cast today, please do not be discouraged in your abilites or passion! I still look forward to working with anyone and everyone! Other than that, I hope you're having a great now! :)

Role assigned to: Grey

As Steve Rogers' best friend, Bucky does his best to always be there, no matter what. A fellow kid from Brooklyn, Bucky's a fighter at heart, and that can be considered both a pro and a con.

Voice Desc:
Young Adult, brash and extroverted, bit of an Brooklyn accent, but definitely not over the top.

Face Cast (Unrelated to voice):

Ryder Strong

Language:
  • english
  • (encouraging) “Look. One day, when we’re old and tired, we’re gonna kick back, look at our medals of honor, and laugh. We’ve got the opportunity, now, to make a difference. We just gotta keep fighting.
‘Cause if we don’t -- if we hang up our hats and give in to what that jackass Hitler wants -- we’d be better off dead. Our fathers didn’t fight and work and bleed for some lunatic to come parading perfection. We gotta make it count. Best foot forward and all.”

  • (endearing) “So, it looks like I’m not gonna be the only Brooklyn-born kid makin’ a difference. Congratulations. Here’s lookin’ at you, kid.”

  • (exhausted) "Well, I'll be... Captain America. Thought you were just an imaginary poster boy. Glad to see you're n-... Wait a sec... Steve?!"

Peggy is the love of Steve's life. She soothes him and cares about him. But she’s also strong, both in will and in skill. She’s not a push-over, and she’s definitely no-one’s damsel in distress. But don’t think she’s got a cold heart, either. A calculated mind, sure. But her heart is as warm as a heart can be.

Voice Desc: Young adult, British, occasionally stubborn and a hard outer shell, but caring and compassion are not alien to her.

"How can I? You're taking all of the bloody 'crazy' with you."

  • (reassuring)

“I trust you with my life. Not only that, but I trust you are going to make it out of this perfectly fine."

  • (bit of a monologue!)
“I heard every single word that came out of your mouth. Here is one of your cadets, coming to you with an issue. Regardless of whether or not it were real, your best course of action would have been to investigate it at once. You failed on that front. You then proceeded to verbally and psychologically attack said cadet, most likely in an attempt to keep his mouth shut. You--”

(gets interrupted with a 'If I may..." statement)

“No. You certainly may not. You have been given the honor. The privilege to be a part of this project. You fall short of that. Investigate the food supply issue and come to me with a full report this time tomorrow. If you do not, you will be released from this project. Do I make myself clear?”

A famous and tough old man, Nick Fury is the leader of the Howling Commandos. While he is aware of his legendary status, he's also aware he didn't ask for it, and he only means to serve as the People's Champion, a beacon of hope in an otherwise dark and dreary war. But, he's also aware that he's a human too. And that he works with humans, as well.

Voice Desc: American badass, wisened, tried, and true. A bit of a twang and slickness in his voice.

One of the greatest scientific minds in all of Marvel history... boiled down to an extremely anxious, always-uncomfortable refugee. Erskine used to work for HYDRA, in the vein hope that he could produce beneficial things and help his family for once. Finding out that it was all for naught, he sabotaged the administration of his first attempt at a Super Soldier Serum, and potentially created a deadly ally to all of time -- The Red Skull. Aware of this, he turns to the Allied forces in the hope of making something truly good out of his mistakes.

“I know of a way to give you the chance to give you what you seek. It’s a rather…unusual way, but I see the potential for greatness in you, Steven Rogers. Final question:  Are you willing to take a risk to make a difference?”

  • “I understand. You see, you and I are much more similar than different. A… reputation, of the sorts, one that precedes us. For me, it is my heritage. For you, it is your medical abnormalities. These are obstacles we overcome because we can. So please, do not think for a moment that I doubt you.”

One of the greatest minds of his time, Howard always finds himself in some trouble. Although, usually, it's good trouble. He can't help but do the right thing for the right people, whether that be skimming on money to make an affordable vesion of a kitchen appliance to helping in the second World War. He's got a big head on his shoulders, but tries his best to use it to make a difference.

Voice Desc: American, slight Transantlantic accent typical to that of swingers and gumshoes of the 1940s and 50s (picked up on it due to it being 'cool' to do so; he's really from Sacramento.)

“Not really. These are custom made. Bought ‘em in Versailles for a pretty penny, then had em customized so they can fold up real nice and easy. They’re Persol 649’s, and let me tell you, they’re so clear you could fly mach 50 with em and not even get a scratch."

    (A beat.)

"Mach 50’s pretty fuckin’ fast. Human body can’t even withstand it. But these babies? Oh, you bet your bottom dollar they could withstand even the strongest of bombs.”

  • (after Steve denies taking a drink from him)

Jarvis is cool, calm, and definitely collected. A man of few emotions and even fewer statements, Jarvis only looks to provide comfort. When he does speak, however, he provides ample commentary and sharp wit. But usually, you've got to start the conversation rather than the other way around.

Voice Desc: British, specifically a bit of a Scouse and Newcastle mix. Learned but not old, mostly monotone. May come off as condescending at times.

A mind devoted to technology and robotics, with a passion for using said things to further his personal gain and the gain of HYDRA. Zola brought on Erskine, and as such, has a bit of making up to do in terms of loyalty. By this story, he's already made enough effort to be involved in major things, and he will stop at nothing to gain full control of his piece of HYDRA back.

(As of Act One, Maxon has not too many lines, but a much larger presence in the later acts. I'll still give this role three lines, though.)

An American that switched sides when the going got tough, Maxon never felt like he fit in anywhere. His ideas of a world where one rules all, and the power of propaganda gave him a sharp edge that got him nowhere in the Allied forces. But, when the opportunity arises, he jumps ship to HYDRA, and finds that, although he doesn't exactly fit in there, he does manage to make a difference. One condescending insult at a time.

Voice Desc: American, brash and emboldened. Always a chip on his shoulder, and he knows it, yet he remains jovial and joking as can be.
