Odysseus is the protagonist of the Odyssey and Epic:The Musical! He is a man who faced many hardships during his journey from Troy to his home, Ithaca, the kingdom he rules alongside his wife, Penelope.

Characteristics:

He is a very intelligent man who solves his problems with cautiousness and wit as that is the principles his mentor, Athena, taught him. Moreover, Odysseus is a man who loves his family made of his wife. Penelope, and his son, Telemachus. Therefore, he is very loyal, his crew trusts him very much until the end when they realise he tricked them into getting killed by Scylla in her lair. From that moment on, they lose their trust in the man that became a 'monster'.

Zeus is the most important Greek God among them all. In fact, he is the Father of all the Gods. His role is crucial in songs like 'Thunder Bringer' and 'The Horse And The Infant' as he gives Odysseus some very hard choices to make.

Characteristics:
Zeus is very prideful as he is the God King in greek mythology. You can notice his narcissistic behaviour in 'Thunder Bringer ' and 'God Games' mostly, so be sure to convey that feeling. He has this allmighty kind of aura which basically screams 'You will do as I please when I please and you will not contradict me', even though he goes against his own will in 'God Games' to free Odysseus from Calypso's island.

Athena is not only one of the main greek gods, but she's also Telemachus and Odysseus' mentor, so she's basically one of the main characters in Epic: The Musical. She is the daughter of Zeus and the Goddess of wisdom, which I believe is mentioned more than enough times in all of the Odyssey and 'Warrior Of The Mind'.

Characteristics:
Athena starts off as a cold and cunning character that only relies on logic as you can tell from her action of scolding Odysseus in 'Warrior Of The Mind' after he relaxed and embraced the world with open arms like Polites suggested. Later after she parts ways with Odysseus, she encounters his son, Telemachus, and they become friends as she helps him fight against the pretendents in 'Little Wolf'. She goes through a real evolution as she actually starts listening to her 'sentiments' for a while and she becomes more gentle, regretting the harsh behaviour she was used to using with Odysseus.

Penelope is the queen of Ithaca, a loving wife and an awesome mother who stands her ground against all the pretendents waiting to become the next king after Odysseus' (possible) death. In Epic, she plays a fundamental role in telling us what's happening in Ithaca while Odysseus is away.

Characteristics:
She is brave, gentle, smart and determined to succeed in her mission of wasting the pretendents' time until Odysseus comes back home. Her son, Telemachus, would do everything in his power to help her in this difficult situation and to protect her from the men that want to marry her just for the title of king.

Telemachus is Odysseus and Penelope's son and Athena's new mentee/friend after 'My Goodbye'. His only mission is to live a legendary life as he sings in 'Legendary' and to protect his mother from the pretendents that want to marry her at all costs before the king's return.

Characteristics:
He is shy and fragile at first, in fact, 'Little Wolf' starts with Telemachus losing the fight against Antinous, but with Athena's intervention he becomes stronger and more confident. In the end, he sings 'We'll Be Fine' which is like his inner strenght's awakening with Athena's help.

Eurylochus is Odysseus' right hand man aka the person he trusts the most. Both have their own divergences during the story, in fact, once Odysseus gets the bag from Aeolus with all the winds trapped, he deliberately decides to open it in case there's a hidden treasure. This will then lead to Odysseus finding out his betrayal in 'Scylla'.

Characteristics:
Eurylochus is witty and strong-willed, we could say he's more of a realist than Odysseus. When he sings 'Luck Runs Out' he genuinly seems concerned for their fates after Odysseus' decisions keep turning out disastrous and deathly. His betrayal of opening the windbag will then lead to Odysseus killing him and his last comrades in 'Thunder Bringer' after they ate the sun's cows despite being warned not to do so.

Polites is one of Odysseus' crewmates and he's like the most positive person you'll ever meet in your whole life. Too bad he died in the song 'Survive'.

Characteristics:
To define Polites we need to mention that he's like a sweet sweet pancake (for those who get the reference).. he's naive and believes that the world can be better if you greet it with open arms, so be sure to express his lovely positivity when voicing him!

Polyphemus is a cyclops that Odysseus and his crewmates fight against in order to escape his kind's island. In the end, he gets hurt in his only eye and cannot see Odysseus and his comrades anymore, so they escape successefully.

Characteristics:
There's not much to say about Polyphemus except that he's brutal and reckless. He does not care at all about Odysseus and his men's lives so he just kills Polites and some other of them. He just cares about his sheep.

Circe is a powerful sorceress who meets Odysseus when he first comes to her to find out if the men that had explored her island were all been captured by her in 'Done For' after receiving Holy Moly from Hermes.

Characteristics:
Circe shows a deep hatred for men at first, in fact, she transforms all of the scouts that came to her palace except for Eurylochus who managed to escape in time as said in 'Puppeteer'. She is very protective of her nymphs and cares about them very much. In 'There Are Other Ways' she finally pushes her hatred aside and helps Odysseus saying that helping him can lead to kinder actions from others in the future. She is also like trying to convince Odysseus to.. do something with her in that song, bur he refuses since he respects Penelope far too much to betray her.

Aeolus is the greek god of wind and the one that gave Odysseus the windbag that had all the storms trapped inside! There's not that much to say about them as they only appear in 'Keep Your Friends Close'.

Characteristics:
Aeolus is silly and pretty funny, so try conveying that demeanor into your singing and voice acting since joking is basically all they do throughout their song!

Scylla is a monster that basically ate some of Odysseus' comrades and only appears in her own song 'Scylla'. Going through her lair is Odysseus' only way back home.

Characteristics:
Her singing starts off as very gentle and almost melodic, but it soon turns into an eerie kind of powerful voice that just screams 'You have made a big mistake coming here'. Her voice is sometimes desperate, other times full of anger and vengeful.
