C&C Tiberian Sun: Re-Energized

Project Overview

What's the project about?

Good day! My name is Marius, I'm the director of Flatlight Productions. We're a small team which focuses on re-dubbing and improving old games.

This project's main purpose is to upgrade the voice acting and cutscene quality to today's standards. Unlike Red Alert 2, Tiberian Sun has aged a whole lot worse than Red Alert & Yuri's Revenge. It will need a whole lot of surgery to make it stand up to Red Alert 2.

Our plans for approaching Tiberian Sun:

1. The Voice acting -

Voice acting is really weak, (most likely rushed, judging from how different the voicing quality looks in the cutscenes, versus the quotes we hear in-game by characters) and we plan to completely overhaul most of the smaller role voices & adding brand new voices for each unit, like we did with Red Alert 2. Though we will be looking to keep the original feel of the cutscene voices.

2. Cutscenes -

Once again, Tiberian Sun has aged a whole lot in this front as well. We'll be upscaling the videos via trained AI to 4k and provide burned subtitles, re-dubbing them as well, since we get an opportunity to completely re-do (almost) everything.

3. Graphics -

We will be reworking some of the graphics to make them look slightly better.

4. Cut Content

Most of the cut content is actually almost finalized and ready for the public. So, we'll be adding back the cut units and features, whilst also trying to make the game mechanics feel more-like Red Alert 2. (For example; building queues increased from 5 to 30, like in RA2.)

5. New Content

Expect brand new units and buildings being added to the game.

Requirements:

  1. Good CCC profile & reputation as a voice actor. Having recommendations & an large portfolio on CCC is a big plus. Having an empty portfolio and or empty profile is unlikely to get you cast.
  2. Discord. Unfortunately, messaging everyone CCC isn't convenient and is quite difficult, especially for a large-scale project such as this one.
  3. Be at your best when you audition. Make sure you are in the mood to audition, give the best of yourself, as your audition will represent the skills that you have.
  4. XLR microphone with good sound treatment. However, for those with a lower budget, a USB mic might do the trick if you have decent sound-proofing, or if you don't have such luxury, just record under a blanket, always does the trick. I don't expect you to have an expensive Neumann mic or something of that range, but an AT2020 or NT1A with sound proofing would be better than a Yeti or a Snowball.
  5. Sportsmanlike behavior. I expect every single voice actor to treat each other and everyone else with respect. Staying honest and working together is important for the project.
  6. Working with tight deadlines. Make sure you are available to record the lines in a short deadline. Failing to send the lines on time or deciding to leave the project without a fair reason will get you permanently rejected from my projects.

I don't recommend:

Slating your auditions. It's unnecessary.

Doing multiple takes in your auditions unless the line performance differs from the first take. I usually listen up-to a minute before making a decision.

I recommend:

Checking out the C&C wiki for more information on the units, characters, backstories since C&C series are quite huge.

Kane is the charismatic, absolute leader of the Brotherhood of Nod, who features prominently in all of the Tiberium Universe games, as well as in the original Red Alert game as the secretive advisor to Joseph Stalin.

Video to help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISDQg899qVY

Kane is viewed in equal measure by his loyalists and enemies as an extraordinarily astute and charismatic figure. Most estimates by GDI's psychoanalysts have placed his IQ around 196 at the least, well above what is formally classified as a genius, made evident not only by the Brotherhood of Nod's unanticipated rise as a new superpower in the modern world, but in its astonishing ability to go toe-to-toe with the Global Defense Initiative in high-tech warfare. GDI characterizes Kane as "a brilliant and charismatic sociopath, obsessed with accelerating the worst ecological catastrophe in history", and declines to make any official comments on the mystery of his seeming agelessness.

Kane is a master at propaganda and information warfare, evidenced when he broadcasted a news report about the alleged GDI slaughter of civilians in Białystok, Poland, as well as manipulation and control, evidenced by him managing to control Joseph Stalin's actions (while avoiding being purged). Kane's own messages may reflect his reputed charisma, speaking with a confident deep voice. Interestingly, recovered footage from a Nod propaganda studio reveals Kane speaking with an uncharacteristically softer tone.

Kane is undoubtedly ruthless, showing little regard for ethical constraints when they stood in the way of his goals and willing to sacrifice thousands or millions of people in order to succeed; but at the same time, he does not appear to be without sympathy for the plight of human suffering. He is known to have expressed seemingly genuine anger at the plight of the destitute of the slums of Rio in a non-public context.

  • Rise, my people. I have returned, never to leave your side again. GDI sought to destroy me, but they have only made me stronger. Today, we march forward into our future. A stronger people... a divined people, enhanced for the Tiberium world. The time has come, to claim this world as our own! The time has come, to destroy GDI! One vision, one purpose! Peace through power!

  • God? *laugh* No, I'm not God. But I'm a close second.

  • I am the future. The Tiberian Sun has risen!

Dr. Gabriella Boudreau is the successor to Dr. Ignatio Mobius' research into Tiberium's properties and its effects upon humanity and the Earth.

At Tratos' request, Dr. Boudreau oversaw an expeditionary force to Cairo to recover the Tacitus, Kane's other research and deliver it safely to Tratos. This was not without risk, as although GDI forces held the remnants of Kane's Cairo facility, Nod snipers harassed the team, despite the strong winds buffeting the site. Whilst Dr. Boudreau oversaw the loading of the Tacitus and all of Kane's research onto the Kodiak, she was not aboard it when it crashed during an Ion Storm in Egypt, but she watched it go down from her position at the Cairo facility.

Later, she berated General Paul Cortez, commander of GDI's Southern Cross base, and her ex-husband to boot, for allowing Tratos to be assassinated by Nod forces, setting their research back months, if not years. Furthermore, she had to deliver the news that within a year, the Earth's atmosphere would become 100 percent toxic to humans, thanks to the rate of Tiberium poisoning of organic life on Earth. In a somewhat controversial move, she suggested using CABAL to translate the Tacitus, as the Nod AI had helped Tratos translate parts of it during the Second Tiberium War. A GDI commander was despatched to capture CABAL's data core for this purpose.

With CABAL captured, and reconstructed in the Daedalus facility, the Tacitus translation began, though not before a second piece of the Tacitus was recovered from South America. With the Tacitus complete, CABAL's captured cyborgs turned on the GDI forces at the facility, forcing Dr. Boudreau to flee for her life.

Following her rescue, Dr. Boudreau gave a brief lecture on the tactics CABAL employed to gain more 'recruits' for his army, and informed the GDI Commander that her team had successfully implanted a virus in one of the cyborgs (Huey), with the intention of getting him into CABAL's production facility to disrupt the expansion of CABAL's army, and give the GDI-Nod alliance a chance to destroy CABAL's core.

Paul: Our forces have been spread thin, doctor. Not to mention, we're still unable to raise the Philadelphia.

DB: I was there. I saw the Kodiak go down. Unless you forget the point of this entire operation was to get the Tacitus to Tratos.

Paul: Let's save the recriminations. What do you have for us?

DB: The Daedalus Team and I are still convinced the Tacitus is our best approach. The assassination of Tratos has put us months, if not years, off schedule. At the present rate of Tiberium organic synthesis within a year, maybe less, our atmosphere will be 100% toxic to humans.

Paul: EVA, what alternatives to deciphering this Tacitus are at our disposal?

DB: Actually Paul, I have an idea. You're not gonna like it. CABAL, Kane's AI.

General James Solomon is an American army officer who is the Chief Commander of the Global Defense Initiative during the Second Tiberium War. He was a noted field commander in the First Tiberium War and was the player character in the original Command & Conquer.

Solomon during the Second Tiberium War

He continued to serve in GDI and eventually became its supreme commander, stationed aboard the GDSS Philadelphia. In order to avoid another war, he installed Nod general Hassan in Cairo, who rallied the fractured Nod forces, feeding them propaganda, but keeping them pacified. When Anton Slavik drew attention to himself as he and the Black Hand actively fought GDI forces, Solomon ordered his immediate capture and execution. When Slavik was freed by Oxanna Kristos and escaped, the distraught Hassan sought help from Solomon, who calmly informed him that if Slavik gains power, the so-called Pharaoh will become useless to GDI, effectively stating that no help will be given.

When the reunited Nod launched a series of attacks against GDI forces worldwide, Solomon was the first to be contacted by Kane, who taunted him for believing he was killed in the Sarajevo Temple. Unnerved, Solomon called upon Michael McNeil to counter Nod. Preferring strategy and careful planning, Solomon stayed in contact with the GDI commander throughout the conflict, often clashing with the young commander, but seeing how McNeil reminded Solomon of himself when he was young, he let those problems slide. Solomon was often portrayed as a responsible and strong leader, yet he apparently held mutants in low regard, often referring to them as "shiners" and saying that they "can wait."

When Michael McNeil ordered a hasty attack on Cairo, Solomon was quick to inform the commander that he would not authorize it as such. While was unwilling to risk losing such an able commander to a court martial in case his forces lost, he provided them with a veteran Titan unit deployed from the Philadelphia via orbital insertion.

Solomon's fate after the Second Tiberium War is unknown.

  • Solomon: These missiles landed here starting some sort of chain reaction. The Earth is reformatting at the atomic level into pure toxic Tiberium. No one has ever seen anything like it. It's Armageddon.

Umagon: It's the Tacitus. Kane has unlocked its secrets.

Solomon: Tacitus is nothing but a shiner myth. We're going to stop Kane. We have to shut down those missiles. EVA?

EVA: There is some ion storm interference. However, I detect a large Nod Tiberium missile production facility on the edge of my sensor range near Hamburg.

    Solomon: Shut it down, Mack.

EVA: There is also a Nod supply base 75 clicks north of the missile factory. Destroying it first will make your primary objective easier to achieve.

Umagon: Blunt. Mark, many of my people are being experimented on at the Nod cyber plant south of Hamburg. If you will escort them to your evac center, they'll help you destroy the Nod supply base and the missile production center.

Solomon: First, rescue Hamburg. The shiners can wait. That is an order.

Cortez did not receive much media coverage for his work during the events of the Second Tiberium War.

After the Battle of Cairo, when a large-scale ion storm and atmospheric changes cut off contact between the Philadelphia command station and the planet, Cortez assumed command over GDI with Southern Cross acting as a temporary Global Defense Initiative command center until contact could be re-established with Philadelphia. He quickly formed the Firestorm Taskforce and siphoned off an experienced Commander from Project Lazarus to lead the campaign. Cortez was reputed as an arbiter and a good diplomat, establishing a sincere alliance with Tratos and the Forgotten. The Mutants proved invaluable in assisting GDI.

Cortez's skills proved instrumental to GDI's survival during the Firestorm Conflict, which helped save many lives as well as allow GDI to recover the Tacitus intact from the wreckage of the Kodiak with the assistance of the Forgotten.

Paul: Commander, as distasteful as the idea sounds, it appears that CABAL is our best shot at stopping Tiberium contamination. Think of this as a prisoner snatch. I want a hard target recovery of CABAL. Use whatever means you deem necessary, but get that machine intact.

Tratos united Tiberium-mutated humans under one cause. A charismatic man with limited precognitive powers, he rules the mutants with compassion and skill, giving shelter, society and order to those changed by Tiberium. His personal bodyguard was Umagon, who was loyal to him to the end.

Tratos has exceptional skill as a researcher and possesses great intellect. He was the original owner of the Tacitus, before he was tricked by Kane into handing it over and later imprisoned by Nod in order to aid the translation efforts of the incomplete data matrix. Plagued by the thought that he may have contributed to the doom of humanity, he aged rapidly and his health deteriorated, to the point that he had to be relocated to a Nod prison medical colony.

McNeil raided that colony with a Forgotten commando unit in cooperation with GDI. They liberate the leader and evacuate him to the Kodiak with help from Lt Stark. Tratos remains on the ship for the remainder of the conflict (due to his state, as he is unable to walk after Nod's treatment), aiding commander Michael McNeil with his knowledge and scientific skill, as well as the visions he regularly experiences. Eventually he gots back on his feet and is able to perform regular scientific work. He managed to develop a prototypical anti-mutagen, which he injected into Umagon to stop the divination process. Unfortunately, the serum does not work, and Umagon mutated horribly.

  • Umagon: Tratos wishes to speak with you.

Tratos: You must stop Kane. He has gained the ability to control Tiberium's effects, to reform the planet so that it supports another kind of life, Tiberium-based life. The Tacitus explains how it is to be done.

McNeil: How can you be sure of this?

Tratos: Because I translated it for him. I have betrayed the world.

McNeil: Sir, I think I know what Kane is up to.

The Computer Assisted Biologically Augmented Lifeform (originally named Computer Assisted Bio-organic Artificial Life-form) is a sinister and highly advanced sentient AI created by Kane using technology and data he acquired, presumably from the Tacitus.

CABAL's purpose was twofold: it served as a console interface between Nod battlefield soldiers and their commanders worldwide, while at the same time utilizing the subsequent and vast network of live intelligence to collate and devise complex strategies of its own, ultimately acting as a potent advisor and right-hand to those highest in command of the Brotherhood's forces.

It also proved to have the capability of decoding and translating the Tacitus, an object considered to hold all the recorded knowledge on the mysterious Tiberium substance. CABAL's overall function was parallel to GDI's EVA to a large degree, but was vastly superior. CABAL even referred to the GDI EVA as a "primitive machine". The AI literally had a mind of its own and could both reason and act completely autonomously, a lifeform more than a computer. The EVA unit, in comparison, gives at best logically-formulated advice based on the sum of the information it was presented with.

During the Second Tiberium War, CABAL was used as the Brotherhood's tactical, logistical and global communications coordinating console, as well as a potent type of advisor to Kane's top operatives under the command of Anton Slavik.

  • The Brotherhood is at an evolutionary dead end. I am the only salvation to the continued supremacy of Nod. It is my world now.

  • Oxanna: CABAL, situation?

CABAL: A division of Hassan's Elite Guard is closing in on our position. The probability of a favorable outcome can be increased if we can return to the main base and engage the enemy as we move.

    Slavik: Define "favorable outcome," CABAL.

She was one of the fiercest warriors of the Forgotten and favourite underling of Tratos, Umagon was an excellent hand-to-hand fighter. She was subject to extreme Tiberium exposure, which turned her into a mutant.

Second Tiberium War

Little is known about her prior to her encounter with GDI forces in the Second Tiberium War. She penetrated a large Scrin aircraft captured by the Brotherhood of Nod and was encountered by GDI commanders Michael McNeil and Chandra, when they were exploring the interior of the strange ship after taking it from the Nod.[1] Eventually, she struck a deal with the Global Defense Initiative, trading General Vega's location for saving Tratos, the Forgotten's leader. It is hinted that she and McNeil shared a love which did not endure, due to her Tiberium injuries.

She would eventually serve as a sort of ambassador of the Forgotten to GDI, aiding commander McNeil with advice, providing tactical information or even pinpointing the location of the prototype fighter manufacturing plant. Unfortunately, she was captured by Nod following the last assignment, and taken to Kane's headquarters in Cairo, where she'd be subject to the Divination process.[2]

The process could not have been completed though, as McNeil rescued Umagon and Tratos administered an experimental Tiberium mutation antidote to her.[2] However, this would prove to be an error, as the antidote caused her to mutate horribly and forced Tratos to confine her to a straitjacket in a padded cell. She is assumed to have died of the mutations shortly before the Firestorm Conflict began.

  • Let's get something straight: I don't take orders from you. I'm not fighting this war for you. I fight for the Forgotten.

Anton Slavik was a notorious and high-ranking commander of the Brotherhood of Nod, who rose to prominence during the Second Tiberium War and amid the Firestorm Crisis in particular. The feared leader of the Black Hand, Slavik's strategic genius and his unflinching loyalty to Kane made him ascend to Nod's Inner Circle at a very young age. During the Firestorm Crisis, he assumed command over the entirety of the Brotherhood as its supreme general in Kane's absence. In so doing, Slavik ensured Nod's survival against CABAL, and he indirectly set the world stage for the Third Tiberium War against GDI.

  • Slavik: Have you reached your decision, Cortez?

Cortez: Yes. A cease-fire. A joint operation to neutralize the genie you people let out of the bottle. May God have mercy on us all. But you listen to me, Slavik. They used to call you the Serbian Wolf, right? Bite me and I'll put you down like I would any wild dog. This is a joint command, little Nod soldier boy! Brought on by your incompetence. Remember that.

Slavik: You'll find I need to bite only once. And I always aim for the throat. I would have never approached you, Cortez, if the situation wasn't so desperate. When CABAL has been dealt with, there will be reckoning for Cortez. He has made an enemy today.

  • Today, we have defeated the single greatest threat to the survival of the Brotherhood—IN TRIUMPH! Today, the madness of CABAL was put to an end and a new era has begun! We are strong! We are invincible! We are the future of the survival of mankind! Nod remains a unified force with one vision and one purpose! We will continue to uphold the ideals of Kane—peace through power! When Kane returns, we will truly be unstoppable! In the name of Kane! Kane lives in death.

Hassan was the Brotherhood of Nod's supreme general in the eastern hemisphere prior to the Second Tiberium War. A "would-be Pharaoh", he ruled over the largest Nod splinter faction from a stronghold in Cairo, Egypt. Hassan secretly was in league with the Global Defense Initiative, as he brokered a deal with GDI general James Solomon, who helped him to stay in power in exchange for maintaining the status quo in GDI's favor.

In order to ensure his continued primacy within the Brotherhood, Hassan cut a deal with GDI's general Solomon - in return for intel on Nod activities, GDI would allow him to lead the Brotherhood.

Hassan was a weak ruler, keeping the Brotherhood away from total oblivion by the thinnest of hairs. He also acted as GDI's cleaner, removing the most dangerous elements of Nod on Solomon's behalf, typically by killing them.

Jake McNeil is a high ranking GDI officer stationed in the Norwegian Hammerfest base in Tiberian Sun.

Jake is the brother of Michael McNeil. He was taken prisoner along with his parents during the First Tiberium War and placed in a medical colony. His mother gave birth to his little brother Michael while in the camp. His brother's DNA was considered perfect for augmentation by Nod researchers, who took him away. When the McNeil's resisted, they were shot by security, leaving the McNeil brothers orphans. Jake never knew what the Brotherhood researchers were doing to his sibling, he only knew that his brother was still alive.

When the medical colony was liberated by GDI Commander James Solomon and his troops, both boys were placed in GDI care and grew up under the UN wing. However, Jake's deeply rooted distrustful attitude towards authority figures hampered any attempts by Solomon to develop a relationship similar to the one he had with McNeil.

Jake set aside his distrust and joined GDI after his brother rose in rank rapidly, seeing the pride with which he served. As a normal human (Michael was augmented by Nod in the medical colony, a fact no one in GDI knew about) he can't match his brother's accomplishments, a fact which gnaws at him a little, but he serves as best he can. He does his job well enough for no one to complain, although he often gets compared to standards higher than what he is capable of.

Jake is a loner who has problems fitting in with the crowd. He also has trust issues when it comes to authority figures and hidden anxieties concerning his brother's fame. Nevertheless, he is also idealistic and wants a world of peace, not war.

Solomon: Nod forces have broken through our European perimeters, Mac. They've taken Hammerfest.

    McNeil: Hammerfest?

Michael "Mack" McNeil is the player character in Tiberian Sun's GDI campaign, and a major character in the Tiberium game.

Origin

McNeil was born in a Nod medical colony, after his parents were captured by the Brotherhood during the First Tiberium War. When Kane's scientists realized that the infant child has the perfect DNA structure for human enhancement with Tiberium, they took the child from the parents. When the McNeils resisted, they were shot dead by Nod troopers, leaving only his brother Jake alive.

Nod scientists aimed to create a highly intelligent military commander with excellent strength and combat reflexes; in essence, the perfect soldier. However, the facility was liberated by Commander James Solomon's forces and the McNeil brothers were taken under GDI care. Michael spent his formative years in GDI bases and military academies, eventually, once old enough to join the GDI military, showing outstanding skills and abilities as a commando (thanks to Nod genetic enhancements that GDI is oblivious to). McNeil reached the rank of Commander in record time.

Personality

He is a prominent field commander in his thirties, characterized as an intensely loyal and fiercely competitive individual in his periodical medical report #PSY89902. His best friend and second in command, Lt Chandra, says that "Mack considers life simple. He knows what he wants and he'll do everything to achieve it. And like every good marine, he wants to win."

Assignment

Michael McNeil is, essentially, GDI's cleaner, called upon to handle the worst environmental crises and pacify the most violent of Nod uprisings. Stationed in Point Hope, Alaska, McNeil enjoys his work, but longs for something more, a purpose for his life. The re-emergence of Nod in September 2030 sees McNeil assigned command over GDI's North American forces, sent to handle the newest Nod outburst.

  • Michael: Stay alert people. Just because the lights are off doesn't mean nobody's home. This is some crazy technology. Are you getting this, Chandra?

Chandra: Recording the whole thing, sir. It looks Vega's boys cleaned it out.

Umagon: Not bad for a Blunt.

    Michael: You Shiner.

Umagon: My name's Umagon and you better use it unless you want your head cut off.

    Michael: I don't.

Umagon: I can help you. I can help you find Vega.

    Michael: Vega?

Umagon: The brotherhood holds our leader, Tratos, in a highly secured medical colony south of here. We don't have the resources to break him out without you, but you can't find Vega without us.

Michael: Why should I trust you?

Umagon: Unlike you Blunts, the Forgotten are a people of honor.

EVA: I have pinpointed the location of the Nod prison camp. An array of sensor towers has been installed around the perimeter.

Umagon: If we don't take that array out first, they'll know we're coming. Tratos will be killed.

Michael: EVA, give us an approach assessment.

Role assigned to: Onur Coban

Realizing that they needed a way to deliver damage without fear of retaliation, Nod developed a new long-range artillery platform. Because of recoil involved, the unit is unable to fire while mobile, and cannot move while deployed. Its range and firepower allow for easy bombardment of enemy structures and infantry, while it is less effective against vehicles. It is poorly armoured, and should be escorted by other unit types.

  • Select:

Capable of burrowing though all but the hardest of surfaces, the Devil’s Tongue can unleash deadly jets of flame on unsuspecting targets with impunity. The Stealth Tank is a light battle tank that is able to cloak itself in order to remain undetected by enemies. The tank is unable to remain cloaked while firing due to the enormous power drain of the stealth generator. Infantry and base defenses can reveal the stealth tank if it comes too close. Mobile Sensor Arrays can detect a stealth tank’s presence at longer range.

Lt. Com. Peter Tao, was the base commander of Phoenix Base.

Peter Tao is a friend of McNeil's, a little younger than him, but old enough to attend the academy at more or less the same time.

Second Tiberium War

When Nod forces, led by General Vega attack Phoenix Base, Tao's men put up a fight but were overwhelmed by Nod troops, with Tao soon reporting that all GDI forces had been destroyed.[2] Tao was captured and tortured for important information, before being executed by general Cesar Vega. The video of his execution was sent to the Kodiak and before the execution, Vega jeered at McNeil, Chandra, and Brink.

Juggernaut

Role assigned to: MercBandit

The Juggernaut serves as a mobile artillery gun, possessing great range and power that make it perfect for siege warfare. Despite its imposing appearance however, the Juggernaut is surprisingly vulnerable to most forms of attack, especially anti-armor weaponry. On top of this, it is fairly slow moving. These two vulnerabilities combined bestow the Juggernaut with the necessity to be protected either by friendly units or a healthy amount of distance from its targets.

The Juggernaut cannot fire while mobile; in order to use its powerful artillery guns, it needs to plant itself in the ground first, a process which takes around two seconds to complete. Once implanted, it can and will fire at any target inside it's attack radius; in order for it to attack anything outside that radius, it must rise back up, move to a close spot, and then plant itself again.

  • Selected:

    Looking for the big guns?

    Juggernaut, standing by!

  • Moving:

    Walkers in motion.

    Approaching area.

    Let's get her movin'!

    Entering new position.

  • Attacking:

    Fire at will!

    Clean 'em up!
