About

Boyfriend of the Dead is a Webtoon created by Ushio, and this project is to make a fandub for it!

"She's a smart, independent young woman who's kicking ass and struggling to make her way through the middle of the zombie apocalypse... Just her luck: one day she goes out searching for food and shelter and ends up finding a boyfriend instead. And, oh yeah, because modern love isn't hard enough... he's UNDEAD!" - Ushio

Auditioning Notes:

1. I need high quality audio recordings (Acoustically treated recording spaces, and preferably XLR mics)

2.  Long term commitment (This is a long on-going series of 200+ chapters)

3. Professionalism (Please respect others and yourself, and respond in a timely fashion)

4. Double casting may occur depending on the role and vocal capabilities of the actor/actress

5. Because I am looking to begin this series promptly, I may cast before the deadline for certain roles.

  • First Round of Casting Decisions

    Hey all! I'd like to thank everyone for auditioning so far! I'm hearing some great stuff out there! I'd like to let you all know that I will be making some casting decisions this week, but I will extend the deadline to get more auditions for other characters that haven't had a whole lot of auditioners try for. (ie Eins and Zwei have been the toughest ones to find VAs for). If you've only got one audition in there, I highly recommend auditioning for other characters as well, even the extras. I know the sound of extra isn't as appealing as the higher roles, but they're very important parts of the series and help create atmosphere. Each chapter almost has at least 2 or 3 other extras that have dialogue. Other than that, tell your VA friends to audition as well! I look forward to hearing your auditions! This is the younger self of the Main Character. He often has flashbacks of when he was a live, but they're of when he was a child and still lived with his grandma

  • (Excited): Is that a chicken grandma?! We can keep it! (3 days later) Grandma, I'm back! Huh? Wh-Where's the chicken? ... Grandma you kil-... *starts sobbing*

  • (Sad/Defensive): But grandma noooo. Piggy and I are bestest friends, we can't have him for dinner!

N's Grandmother who appears in flashback episodes. Kindhearted, and a great cook. She helped N discover his passion for cooking. She is often his saving grace when his mother's scoldings are too harsh.

Voice: Senior type voice. Any voice range is fine, whichever suits the image best.  I'm open to any accent (she looks of asian descent, but I can't say for sure. currently resides in the UK, I'm not sure how long she's lived there, but I don't think she picked up the accent)

  • (Bringing N back inside after his mother sent him on timeout): Instead of having him stand outside doing nothing and waste precious time, I'd rather have him do something productive like help me out in the kitchen.

  • (Coaching her grandson on how to make a dish): You put one carrot stick here, some bean sprouts there, some mushroom here... Each one has to face the same direction! Then, dip your finger in the corn starch mixture. It's a glue to keep the roll from falling apart! Then fold it like this. And ta-da! Think you can do it?

  • (Trying to get N to stop crying after she killed the chicken for dinner): Ah no! Don't worry, this isn't your chicken! Uh, he flew out the window onto that tree branch over there!

A teenage human girl. She resides in the human camp, and looks like her father, the gunman, in personality. She won’t hesitate to kill a zombie (assuming she has ammunition for her gun), but worries about her father (to the point that she actually kidnaps N just to show the other survivors that N didn't bite her father). After the mess at the survivor camp, she joins the main couple. 

She is tomboyish and rough. She doesn't play around. She can open up and tease Alex every now and then. 

Voice: Medium high - medium low; energetic, youthful. Could have some rasp in there. Can either have a light Scottish accent to sound like her dad, or (assuming she grew up in the UK) have an English cockney accent instead. 


  • (Threatening/Commanding): Get up! ... Go to the entrance! ... What are you looking at?! Look at the front! 

  • (Mocking the guards): Ha! You two make the perfect door guards! Don't worry you're never gonna be eaten. They won't even come near you because you two absolutely reek!

He's a very sweet guy and gets a ship tease with Lily.

Voice: Medium high - Medium Low. English  cockney or posh accent (you can do two takes with both accents, I haven't figured which one suits him better)


  • (Speaking to a little zombie girl/remorseful): I'm sorry, too. I've scared you and hurt your friends. I hope they're okay. I'm new here, so I don't have many friends. Can you be my friend? 

  • (Turning into a zombie): I don't know what's going on..! Everything is blur! I don't feel like myself anymore... It's like I'm always so... sooo hungryyy!!! AAArghhh! 

  • (Speaking zombie, struggling to speak English): I managee... wordsss... ffeww c-caanngghh.

A head chef of a fancy restaurant, but recently turned Zombie. His head was severed from his body and is Elsa's little "secret." He is quite the jokester and tries to cheer Elsa up all the time.

He only speaks zombie but is capable of speaking almost normal English.

Voice: Medium high - Medium Low; English Cockney Accent

  • (Peppy/Zombish): Don't bang yor head against the wall too much! *proud of his joke* Oooh, that was a canny one like! Hahaha! 

  • (Concerned/Zombish): Y'alright Pet? What's goin on? What's all the screamin? 

  • (Confused/Zombish): What's this faff all about? Where in the world are we goin? (being tossed around in a bag) Awww me head is spinnin! Can ye run a tad bit slower?

A zombie with only half a face and a skeletal hand. He saves Alex in order to keep her and eat her but forms a bond with her. He can be rather goofy and communicates with Alex through an Elsa doodle board, though after enough time around humans he begins to regain the ability to speak English, though it is garbled.
He is quite the master chef and gets very serious when it comes to food.

He is the main love interest of the female protagonist

This is a comedy, He can be as over-the-top with the dialogue as you'd like. 

Voice: medium high - medium ; British RP/posh accent 

Note: He has dialogue lines, but because he's a zombie, he also has a fair share of grumbles and groans, be prepared for that. 

  • (Offended/Disgusted by the sight of his own kind/Overdramatic): *gasp* So disgraceful! It's killing meeee. This is a Michelin-Starred restaurant in a luxury hotel for god's sake! Why are you eating on the floor? Even dogs eat in a bowl! You are all degenerates! Shoo Shoo! Go back to McDonalds!

  • (Narrating his life so far): I think my senses are returning to normal. Maybe it's because I didn't eat anyone? Anyway, It's actually kind of relaxing when you watch the world burn while enjoying an ice cold beer. (He drinks his beer but it comes out of the hole in his face) Oh SHIT!

  • (Speaking Zombie, not attacking noises, but trying to talk normally and failing): AArgh grrrhgh  Grraarg Urghh!  (Zombie gibberish, but almost English) Uurr Ellkum Aauress! --> translates to "You're Welcome Alex"

  • (Spying on N and Alex/Whispery): Wait! Don't shoot! It doesn't look like he's attacking her. Or rather, he's being pulled by her. And he's pulling a bike? He's pulling a bike for god's sake.

A "hard-boiled" Scotsman. He resides in the human camp, and, according to Alex, won’t hesitate to kill a zombie, harmful or not. N and Max's daughter, Claire, eventually rescue him from the quarantine room where he was being starved on suspicion of being infected. Max quickly warms up to N after realizing that he's not the typical biting zombie.

He's got an explosive personality, which means he's loud. He also likes to have a good laugh.

Voice: Medium low - low, some gruff and heft in his voice. Scottish accent



  • (Enjoying himself): HAHA! You're one likable lad, you! I'm sorry I ballsed it up!

  • (Fatigued/Guilty): Sorry, I'm getting a bit light-headed. So you're helping us escape? I tried to kill you back there. 

  • (Teasing his daughter): Oi Lass, that's not a proper thing to do. You might get yourself killed! And ye can't just capture a man's heart if yer so forceful!

A botanist who got zombified in the botanical garden. He wants to protect the garden from looting humans. He is a Vegetarian zombie, and the scent of human disgusts him to the point he vomits. 

He's a man of facts and says it like it is. He talks mainly through writing or digital messages.

His character reminds me of Ravi from the  iZombie show

Voice: Medium - Medium Low; English posh accent

  • (Shocked/Regret): You came here with Alex... That means Alexander the Great is here!??? and YOU'RE one of her band of brothers?! ... Oh god, I touched one of Alexander the Great's minions. I'm gonna die now... *starts writing will* Dear mum, dear dad....

  • (Just turned Zombie/Inner thoughts): Oh my god, what the hell?! What is this horrible smell? What's happening, wh-why am I here? *shocked* Where's my leg gone?! 

  • (Giving girl advice with a gamer's reference): *sigh* Look, man. Think of it this way... Player 1 knows Player 2 is crap in this game and has a bad history dying over and over again. But she chooses to play with Player 2 anyway because she wants ONLY Player 2 to play this game with her!

They are zombie twin brothers that are cared for by the main two protagonists.

Eins

The smarter (and grumpier) of the zombie twins. He is often irritated by the others and doesn’t believe in the hinted relationship of N and Alex. He likes to tease a lot, and is the mischievous one out of the two. 

He communicates through his smartphone by text messages and letting them read it.

Zwei

The goofy one of the zombie twins. He doesn’t talk, but it is clear what he wants. Whenever Eins says something about his friends in a negative tone, Zwei knows what he actually means. 

He doesn't talk much, he uses emojis to talk on the phone.

Voice: Female and Male VA's welcomed to audition. Medium high-Medium low voice range. Their voices should be different to differentiate between their personalities. They have a British accent as well, I'm open to both RP or Cockney accents

Note: They talk mainly using text messages to Alex, this can be read aloud as their character. 

  • (Eins speaking/Defending the fort): Who are you?! No grown-ups or humans are allowed here! If you want to enter our kingdom, you have to pass the trial of death! 

  • (Zwei speaking/gossiping to his brother): This guy's a weird one. The girl will grow on you though. 

  • (Text Message/Read-aloud): As the only logical person in here, I think we should grab as much food as possible when we have the chance. According to some zombie TV series, living people will fight over things for no reason and kill each other.

  • (Confused/Skeptical): Hmm, If I'm not mistaken, he was arguing with the hoard about keeping her all to himself. Somethings fishy around here...

  • (Speaking Zombie): Uuuragghh! Grraaarghhh. Khaaalmm doowwnngg -> zombie for "calm down"

  • (Text Message/Read Aloud): But he is really quite charming, Good job! You landed yourself an attractive zombie!

A mature zombie lady. She lives with her young daughter and has a close bond with her.  Her child has a strong zombie instinct and goes feral at the scent of human.

Voice: Mother: Medium - low. She is kind-hearted and the hip mother of the group. British posh Accent  Daughter: High - Medium High, youthful. British posh accent. 

Note: I need a VA to do both parts, the mother and her child. 


  • (Mother: talking to Alex about N): What do you love about him? You can tell us! Awwwh! It's okay to be honest! N's a nice boy. We're all rooting for the two of you!

  • (Mother: Slight disappointment): Everytime I try to get something from the stores or restaurants, there're humans trying to shoot us. I tried to show them I was just there for food, but it was no use, they wouldn't listen.

  • (Child: Complaining): *cries* Nooo! I'm hungry! I don't want this, I want human!!

  • (Matter-of-factly): She drank a little water in the lake but doesn't seem to be sick. I prescribed some drugs for her to take. It's lucky she didn't turn zombie right away!

  • (Irritated): You know what, nevermind. I don't know if you're just an idiot or if you're fooling us -fooling yourself, either way it's your... no, it's yours and Alex's business. You should know that well enough.
