BLUE HOUR: SACRAMENTO Seeking 3D Character Artists
Project Overview
I'm looking for a serious 3D character artist to help create the main cast for BLUE HOUR: Sacramento, a realistic, story-driven tactical police game currently being developed in Unreal Engine 5.
What I need:Realistic / photorealistic human characters
Faces that closely match provided character references
Realistic hair, skin and clothing
Police/SWAT uniforms, body armor and tactical gear
Game-ready characters for Unreal Engine 5
MetaHuman and/or Character Creator experience is a major plus
Blender, Maya, ZBrush or equivalent experience welcome
Proper rigging/retargeting knowledge is a plus
Characters must be optimized enough for actual gameplay
I already have established reference images for the main characters. I'm not asking you to invent random characters from scratch. I need an artist who can take those references and make the characters actually look like the people they're supposed to represent.
Current priority:The FIRST LIGHT playable demo. Several Metro SWAT characters need significant visual improvement so they look like a believable, consistent tactical unit rather than placeholder characters.
When applying:Please send examples of your own 3D character work, tell me what software you use, and explain what parts of the character pipeline you can handle.
Beginners are welcome if your portfolio demonstrates the necessary ability. You do not need AAA experience.
Please do not apply with stolen portfolio work or AI-generated images presented as your own 3D work. I may ask to see additional renders or work-in-progress examples before bringing someone onto the project.
This position is currently unpaid/volunteer. There is no guarantee or promise of future compensation. You will receive proper credit for work used in the game.
I'm John, the creator/developer of BLUE HOUR. This is my first game and something I'm personally putting a huge amount of work into. I'm looking for someone who genuinely wants to help build it and who will communicate professionally and reliably.
