Bitter/Sweet Blythe (Yandere Jam Visual Novel Project)

Project Overview

Bitter/Sweet is a short and casual (free) visual novel being created for Yandere Jam 2023. It follows the story of Bunnie (renameable with a choice of pronouns), a rabbit-obsessed individual struggling with anxiety, depression, and other mental health problems, whose one wish on their birthday is to not be alone again. Waking up to the sound of someone singing happy birthday, it seems as though Bunnie’s wish has come true.

My amazing artist friend LPB and I have teamed up to try and submit something for this year's Yandere Jam. While one of the routes is fully written (orange Blythe) and will hopefully be finished/playable in time for the jam's end, it's possible we will continue to work on the project casually post-jam in order to add a route for the other version of Blythe too. Please note:
Because the jam submission deadline is March 1st, auditions will only run here for a few days in order to give whoever is cast as much chance as possible to record and submit lines to me by 21st February 2023. I'm sorry it's such a horrific deadline. If you can't record everything in time, we can always update the game after the jam is over, but we want to try and submit as much as possible for the end of the jam, so if you know you won't have time to record, please don't submit an audition to the project.

I realise the payment rate isn't great, and I can only apologise for that. I don't have much money, and I've never even been able to pay a penny to anyone for helping out on jam projects in the past, but since the deadline is so tight on this one, I wanted to at least try and offer some sort of compensation! Regardless of recording time, I cannot afford to pay anyone more than $30 for their time :(

    I know not everyone is following this project, but for those who are and anyone who happens to see this, I just wanted to let you know that all the roles have now been cast. I really wasn't expecting to get so many auditions, so I was blown away to hear them all.

    Thank you so, so much to everyone who took the time to submit an audition :3 You guys made it pretty difficult for me to cast because there were so many fantastic ones! It was an absolute pleasure to hear all the different takes on the characters. You guys are all awesome and I love you <3

Appearing in Bunnie’s room on the day of their birthday, Blythe doesn’t know how they got to be there, but they feel as though they were invited, and that their reason for existing is to make sure Bunnie has the best birthday ever.

Innocent, enthusiastic, and sweet, Blythe (orange) just wants Bunnie to be happy, but ends up falling deeply in love in the process.

Suave and domineering, Blythe believes that Bunnie is a ‘prize’ to be won. Blythe is also convinced that the key to Bunnie’s happiness lies in letting go and unleashing Bunnie's darker desires.
