Bengladesh Documentary
Project Overview
HOPE — a feature documentary shot in Bangladesh. Looking for native-language voices.
HOPE is a 1h+ documentary about life in the most densely populated and most polluted country on earth: Dhaka's landfills and tanneries, the garment factories of Savar, the shipbreaking yards of Sitakunda, the dried-fish coast, the floating markets of Barisal. Shot on location over 13 days with a local crew, with real people telling their own stories — not a cold, detached documentary, but a first-person journey.
The film is released on my YouTube channel (300K+ subscribers, French-speaking) and then re-cut into a three-part international version, about 20 minutes per episode, built to travel: heavily visual, far less France-centric. Each language version gets its own channel, so your voice carries an entire release, not a background line.
What I'm looking for
Native speakers only — accent and rhythm matter more than studio credits
Languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Arabic, Hindi (Bengali already covered)
One narrator per language, across all three episodes
Warm, grounded documentary delivery. Think a friend telling you what he saw, not a news anchor
Clean home recording is fine — I'll handle the mix
What you get
This is unpaid. What I can offer is real: full credit on screen and in the description, a finished piece of work with an audience actually watching it, the full audio for your reel, and first refusal on the next film — the next shoots are already in planning.
To audition
Read the sample script in your own language, in your own way. I'd rather hear your interpretation than a technically perfect read. 60 seconds is enough for me to know.
HOPE — feature documentary shot in Bangladesh. Looking for native narrators.
Hi — I'm a French filmmaker and YouTuber (300K+ subs). Last autumn I spent 13 days shooting across Bangladesh with a local crew: the landfills and tanneries of Dhaka, the garment factories of Savar, the shipbreaking yards of Sitakunda where men take apart supertankers by hand, the floating markets of Barisal. The film is about how people actually live in the most crowded, most polluted country on earth — told through the people I met, not over them.
The French version comes out on my channel. Then I'm re-cutting it into three episodes of roughly 20 minutes for international channels — one channel per language. Which is where you come in.
The role
One narrator per language, across all three episodes. Roughly 20 minutes of finished narration each.
Native speakers only — I care about rhythm and warmth far more than credits. The delivery I'm after: someone telling a friend what they saw. Curious, grounded, sometimes moved. Not a news anchor, not a movie-trailer voice.
Home recording is fine. A decent mic in a quiet room is enough; I handle the mix.
Honest terms
Unpaid. What you get: full on-screen and description credit, the finished audio for your reel, a real film with a real audience behind it, and first call on the next one — the next shoots are already booked.
Auditioning
Read the sample lines in your language, your way. I'd rather hear a take that's yours than a clean generic read. 60 seconds tells me everything.
