Awoken (A Sci-Fi Minecraft Film)
Project Overview
Story:
Awoken follows a team of astronauts on a mission through the Despina Rift, to find and rescue a crew that went missing 20 years ago. Their journey takes a dark turn when Commander Astriel is brutally killed on board the ship, sending the crew into a terrifying death loop. Astriel must set aside her hate towards the military, and join forces with Lieutenant Murphy to escape the cycle of death. However, their nightmare is not what it seems…
Requirements:
- We are only looking for 18+ voice actors.
- Discord is required for communication.
- A high quality microphone.
Note:
- This film is rated mature under the Machinima Hub rating guidelines. There is swearing and violence. There is no sexual content.
- Please keep in mind when auditioning that there may be up to three Awoken films, although this is unlikely. This will be decided after the release of the first film.
- More information on the characters and script will be shared with voice actors after casting.

Further Information:
Awoken is a low-budget Minecraft machinima that is roughly 90 minutes long. Loosely based on the original series (2017-2019) with the same name, Kitkat has reimagined the universe and characters to create an entirely new story.

Role: Lead Character
Age: 27
Accent: Any American accent. British accents will also be considered.
Voice/Tone: Raven's voice is usually strong and confident, but at times hints at a more vulnerable side. When she's under intense stress or has a panic attack, Raven's voice trembles.
Personality & Backstory:
Raven Astriel is the lead character, commander and pilot of the Awoken crew. Despite being born into the strongest military family on Mars, and expected to take over her father's position, Raven's passion for space led her to pursue a career as an astronaut.
When interacting with other crew members, Raven is professional and puts their lives before her own. However, she can be distant and detached, making it difficult for others to connect with her on a personal level. Raven also suffers from anxiety, which she struggles to manage whilst on the mission. Her anxiety often affects her performance in stressful situations, making it difficult for her to stay composed and think clearly. Despite her struggles, Raven remains determined to keep her crew alive and pushes herself to overcome her fear of space.
Note: Please keep in mind that we will need some sound effects for Raven, such as crying and screaming. She also has some lines as a child.

Who in their right mind recruits criminals for a deep space mission?
(drifting away in space/crying and panicking) It doesn't matter what I do! We all die, every time- And I-I can't- I can't breathe in this thing- I-I just want this to end.
(angry) No! There’s a fucking alien on my ship!
Role: Main Character
Age: 28
Accent: Any American accent.
Voice/Tone: Murphy's voice is deep, and occasionally laced with sarcasm. Generally he speaks with confidence, but he takes on a softer tone when talking to children or those close to him.
Personality & Backstory:
Myles Murphy joined the military at a young age and served for over ten years. However, an incident on Earth caused him to isolate himself and retire from the military. Seeking change, he travelled to the Jupiter moon Europa, notorious for criminal activities and illegal cybernetic technology. He lived as a vigilante for two years, until he was offered to join the Awoken crew as a lieutenant.
Murphy is known for his quiet and reserved demeanour, but when the situation calls for it, he can be assertive. He will often turn to humour to mask his emotions or change the subject. Despite his rough exterior, those who know him will find that he has a softer side.

(sarcastic) Oh, and that’s why you searched the sol system for me? Because I’m known for my unwavering loyalty and devotion to… Absolutely no one?
What do you think I’m going to do? Cause chaos, stab you in the back, seize command? I’m not that guy.
Role: Supporting Character
Age: 21
Accent: Any accent will be considered.
Voice/Tone: Hayley's voice is soft and has a calm, reassuring tone when interacting with patients or in tense situations.
Personality & Backstory:
Hayley Loxley is a supporting character and is the crew's doctor. Hayley had a difficult upbringing and became a mother at the age of 15 to her daughter, Iris. She made the difficult decision to leave Iris behind in the care of her ex boyfriend and parents in order to pursue the mission, believing it's for the greater good for her daughter and humanity.
Hayley is a passionate and dedicated doctor, always putting the needs of the crew first. Her kindness comes from her parents, who raised her to follow god. Despite her youth, she is highly skilled and knowledgeable in the medical field. She is kind and compassionate, and often goes out of her way to comfort and support her fellow crew members. However, Hayley's decision to leave Iris behind weighs heavily on her.
Note: Hayley does have some screaming lines. Please keep this in mind before auditioning.

Role: Supporting Character
Age: 26
Accent: Any accent will be considered,
Voice/Tone: Koro's voice is slightly higher pitched and he sounds energetic. When he goes on tangents, he will speak quickly and use terms and references others don't understand.
Personality & Backstory:
Koro Korte is a brilliant engineer and a quick learner. He often quotes or references science fiction films or series, even in dire situations when it's not the most appropriate. His engineering skills make him a valuable member of the team, even if he can be a bit eccentric at times.
Koro left behind his parents and boyfriend on Mars to pursue the mission. Although this is only briefly mentioned in the film, he misses his loved ones a lot and carries pictures of them.

Commander! You’re awake. We didn’t think you’d wake up.
(tangent) Everyone we know might be dead by the time we get back. I mean think about it, first off we don't know how long we've been asleep for, and secondly we don't know WHERE we are! We'd have no idea how long we've been gone for until we get back to Mars and find out Hayley's daughter is twice our age.
It’s good to see a friendly face- Shit, I haven’t seen you in years. You look different- Not in a bad way though.
Role: Minor Character
Age: 16
Accent: Any accent will be considered,
Voice/Tone: Stiles' voice is youthful and slightly higher in pitch. There is a hint of awkwardness in his tone.
Personality & Backstory:
Stiles Arctor was born and raised among criminals on Europa. He has zero military experience and has never held a gun in his life. Despite this, he was recruited by Myles Murphy to join the Awoken crew as a soldier. The Awoken mission is a chance for Stiles to escape a life of crime, so he eagerly jumped at the opportunity. He is polite but also awkward and clumsy, which provides some comedic relief throughout the film.

Voice/Tone: His voice sounds mature, and he is very articulate.
Personality & Backstory:
Grayson Myers is a planetary scientist and has worked for Nexia Enterprises for decades. Having experience on a previous mission, he's one of the most important crew members on the mission. He is proud of his work and studies, and is always keeping busy in his lab. He doesn't speak often, but when he does it's always something important.

I heard something unusual when I woke up. A scream. Inhuman. Maybe we should stay on the control bridge?

Voice/Tone: Her voice is calm and clear. Her tone is gentle with her daughter, but serious while working.
Personality & Backstory:
Trinity Astriel, the mother of Raven Astriel, has been missing for 20 years after travelling through the rift. Her dedication and passion for her career made her a revered icon across the sol system.

Voice/Tone: Allison's voice is confident and charismatic. There is a subtle edge to her voice that suggests something is off.
Personality & Backstory:
Allison is the CEO of Nexia Enterprises. She appears confident, intelligent and charismatic, but she has ulterior motives that remain hidden. Some are hesitant to trust her, while others cannot see past her facade.
Note: If a sequel is made, Allison will play a bigger role in the story.

All of that aside, I’d argue that having the chance to save your mother is one hell of a motivator, wouldn’t you agree?
Nexia is a private organization. We operate independently. I need someone with military expertise, but isn’t already loyal to someone else.
