Attack on Titan Manga Dub (Chapters RIGHT AFTER Season 4) *SPOILERS OBVIOUSLY*

Project Overview

Spoilers for the Attack on Titan manga!

What is this?

A fan dub of the official Attack on Titan manga. Instead of dubbing the whole series from the beginning, we will start on chapter 117, all the way up till the end, chapter 139. Chapter 117 takes place right after the last episode of season 4, which is episode 16. We are dubbing the manga for fans who cannot wait until the next episodes are released, but don't get as much excitement from the manga. This dub will have immersive sound effects, dramatic music, and feature quality voices from talented voice actors to provide a unique reading experience.

Release in parts

We will be complete this project in parts. By splitting up the work it makes it easier to complete the rest of the manga. Part 1 will include chapters 117-124 (7 chapters). After those chapters have been finished and are ready to upload, work on part 2 will begin, which will include chapters 125-132 (8 chapters). Part 3, the final part, will include chapters 133-139 (7 chapters). However, each chapter in the manga will have its own video. There won't be a part 1 video that encompasses all 7 chapters. Each chapter will be released individually, but won't be released until all chapters in the part are finished and ready to upload. The roles listed on this casting call are for characters that show up in part 1. Part 2 and part 3 characters will have casting calls open when we're ready to move on. If you are cast, you will voice that character in part 2 and 3 if the character is present.

Requirements:

Technical requirements: Please ensure that your microphone is capable of recording your performance without picking up overwhelming background noises or excessive peaking/clipping. USB microphones are not recommended, but depending on your audio engineering knowledge and your recording environment we could accept your audition.  

Acting requirements: Many of AOT's characters tend to emote HEAVILY- as such those roles will probably involve shouting or yelling and even a bit of cursing in some capacity at some time or another. If you cannot commit to the needs of a given role, please do not audition.

Discord requirement: Discord is required to join the official server for this project. This project will be doing live recording sessions, meaning that you and I (or another director) will be in a Discord voice channel to record most of your lines. This helps prevent lines coming in late and to also help improve the quality of acting.

Time requirement: This will be a lengthy project, so please be prepared to stay with us for as long as it takes to record lines. Our goal is to complete the rest of the manga before episode 17 is released next year, in January.

Knowledge of source material: Work on this project will be done with the assumption that you are somewhat knowledgeable of the source material. I don't want to have to explain in-depth about characters or plot points, but if you need refreshers you are welcome to ask or search on the wiki.

A few final notes:

  • PLEASE DO NOT SLATE YOUR AUDITIONS
  • For auditions, please provide at least 2 takes for each line. Showcase your acting skill by varying your line delivery.
  • Voice references are in the description of most roles. It is not necessary to completely mimic the voice if you can't, but getting it close would be preferable. Remember, the most important factors I listen for are acting ability and sound quality.
  • At the end of your audition, please provide some gasps and reaction sounds, such as ones in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZT604JWkxA&ab_channel=Whang%21 This will act as proof that you have read through this description.
  • .wav files would be preferred, but if the file is too large when submitting, mp3 is fine.
  • You may audition for as many roles as you like. Just because the role is very minor, please give it a shot! You can be cast for multiple roles!

  • Final Day for Auditions!

    Today is the 10th, the last day for auditions! After today, I'll be looking over the shortlisted auditions and begin casting roles! Eren in season 4 has a very low-emotion, almost monotone and condescending voice. His tone of voice in the voice reference is pretty much how he is for the rest of the series.

For the grunts and gasps for the end of the audition, please include vocal noises for his titan form as well, such as: deep loud roars, panting and exhaustion, weakened wincing, grunts for throwing punches, growls, and anything else you can think of. If you are going to edit the titan noises to sound more like in the anime, be sure to include the unedited takes as well. The more you include and the more varied your delivery is, the better the audition is at showing the extent of your acting skill.

  • [Confused/questioning] There's no way. Why would Marley launch a desperate surprise attack...? They would never make a decision this dangerous given the information they have... (Ch. 117)

  • [Eren speaking into the minds of all Eldians. Calm, powerful, threatening] To all the subjects of Ymir. My name is Eren Yeager. I'm using the power of the Founding Titan to address all of Ymir's subjects. The walls present on Paradis Island has come undone and all titans entrapped within them have started marching. My objective is to protect the people of Paradis, the place where I was born and raised. However, the world wishes for the annihilation of the people of Paradis. I reject this wish. The Wall Titans shall trample over all earth outside of this island until all life existing there has been exterminated from this world. (Ch. 123)
