ARTYFICIAL

ARTYFICIAL

Project Overview

In the aftermath of a cataclysmic apocalypse that shattered the world as we once knew it, ARTYFICIAL takes us on a journey 300 years into the future. In this desolate wasteland, survivors wander aimlessly, clinging to the remnants of a past they can no longer comprehend. Amidst this bleak backdrop, the game's focus centers on three wanderers, whose chance discovery of the remains of a mysterious figure from the past sets the stage for the game's story.

Together, these wanderers join together to unravel the story of the fallen hero who sought to avert the world's demise, and despite their efforts, failed. As the three piece together fragments of the past, the player will bear witness to the desperate struggle of this long-lost savior, discovering the sacrifices made, the battles fought, and the weight of the impossible burden carried on their shoulders.

At its core, ARTYFICIAL delves deep into the human spirit, exploring the resilience and hope that persist even in the face of imminent oblivion. Players will witness how the survivors cope with the knowledge of their impending doom, finding solace in the smallest gestures and forging connections to endure their shared reality. The game paints a poignant portrait of the human condition, depicting the myriad of emotions, doubts, and fears that intertwine with the remnants of a world lost to time.

Artyficial is not merely a post-apocalyptic adventure; it challenges players to contemplate the profound impact of modern thoughts and perspectives on interpreting historical events. As they navigate the complexities of the past, players will come to realize that history is not a rigid truth; but a fluid tapestry shaped by the lens of the present.

This casting call is for the playable demo of 'ARTYFICIAL'. The demo will be a free to play and download game that lasts 1-2 hours. Talents should be aware and agree that their voice may appear in promotional material for the game.

After completion of the demo, work on the full game will commence. Whether full voice acting is used or not will depend on the amount of funding received for the game. If all goes well, I'd love to reinvite talents (or recast new ones if the old ones do not wish to continue) for much better pay INCLUDING commercial/broadcasting rights.

Most characters will have very little speaking lines in the demo. Characters are listed ROUGHLY from most to least lines.

Please have decent mic quality/no background noise. Talents over 16 preferred.

Should be noted most characters have a Russian accent (except Fyodor and Sister Levitsy, who are Nigerian, Bones + the God of Art who are both British/English, and Papa Nikolaev who is Indian). Accents don't have to be very strong, just noticeable enough. Some characters have to say Russian words: https://forvo.com you can put any russian word into here and get several pronounciations.

Accurate pronunciations are helpful, but difficulty/mispronunciation in your audition won't cost you the position, but it is appreciated and good to know that you are able to easily and fluently pronounce Russian words.

As a note: Tyoma = tee-oh-ma, Nikolaev = Knee-co-lie-yev, Fyodor = fee-oh-dor, Fedya = fed-ya

CW: Artyficial, in both the demo and the full game, will feature aspects of violence, gore, war and apocalypse. The game is political with a main focus on communism (of which the main character is formerly), traditionalism and fascism.

However, I'd like to draw attention to a couple of characters who are still eagerly awaiting their perfect voices. Fyodor (especially! he's sitting at 1 audition right now!) and Papa Nikolaev are quite important to the story, and I'd love to see more auditions for these roles!

While I do have some favourite's among the auditions, I want to emphasize that nothing is set in stone just yet! The beauty of this process lies in the unexpected gems we discover along the way. Protagonist of ARTYFICIAL, Artyom Petrovich Nikolaev – simply known as Tyoma to his closest friends, is a 43-year old man situated in a small town to the north of the now fallen Moscow.

Having died alongside his family, and husband Fyodor, at the age of 31 and revived 12 years later, the once influential communist fashion designer turned depressed middle-aged Artyom wanders the post-apocalyptic lands of a country forever changed by the advent of nuclear weaponry in the Great War, alongside the facsimile of his dead husband that represents his inner turmoil. All while trying to reason with the cause of his revival: pulling on the strings that tie his body together; and his body to the veil between the sleeping and their waking dreams.

VOICE NOTES:

-Middle aged, older sounding

-Shouldnt be extremely masculine

-Mid-high range voice, but not squeaky or young-sounding, slightly rough

-Not very expressive, not very confident, somewhat mumbly

-Subtle russian accent, nothing too heavy

-Sad, forlorn, distant. Most lines should have a dejected, pessimistic tone.

-Slightly slow talker

  • (distraught, upset, screaming at the end) Fyodor..? Fedya? FEDYA!

  • (with wonder and excitement, getting carried away, speaking fast) 400 metres tall - coin shaped, with an infinite spiral (have you heard of a nautilus shell?) containing housing, and 40 armour-like shells around the edges, ebbing and flowing to push the whole thing forward.

  • (forlorn, hushed) The world is standing on the precipice of change. You can hear it, right? The creaking of joints and bones before the inevitable fall?

Fyodor Levitsky / Solnyshko

Paid: Flat Rate 30 USD

Fyodor Levitsky was a true iconoclast in the fashion world, defying the norms of his time and creating a style uniquely his own. Born in Moscow in 1847, his early life is not well known. What is known is that at a young age he moved to Moscow by himself after he showed an early aptitude for art and design, and soon enrolled himself at the prestigious God of Art's school in the city. It's unknown how he was able to finance this move.

However, Fyodor's success was never without controversy. He soon became infamous for his nationalist views, which often put him at odds with the more liberal-minded students of the God of Art's school. He was also rumoured to have used manipulation through illicit substances and other unsavoury methods to advance his career, although these allegations were never substantiated due to his circle's fear of ruining their own reputation.

VOICE NOTES:

REFERENCE/INSPIRATION VOICE: smoker on the balcony (with specified accent)

-High pitched male voice with feminine mannerisms, may accept a female VA with a deep voice that can pass as a male's.

-Smooth and calming voice, speaks at a measured tone even when panicked. Can be breathy

-Nigerian English accent, HOWEVER, a light american-russian accent will also do. Nigerian English is heavily preferred.

-Very well spoken and polite

-Always sounding happy, like the lines are being said with a smile. Rather monotonous in that regard.

-Slower speech

Fyodor also appears as a voice to Artyom, representing his inner monologue - a character referred to as 'Solnyshko'

Solnyshko is a manifestation of Tyoma's subconscious, having initially appeared as a mere whisper of doubt in his ear. However, as Tyoma continues to project his thoughts and emotions onto the image of Fyodor, Solnyshko began to take on a more concrete form.

As a manifestation of Tyoma's subconscious, Solnyshko represents his innermost desires, fears, and doubts, and may serve as a guide or a source of comfort in times of need. Despite his radiant appearance, Solnyshko's presence can also be unsettling and unnerving, as he represents the darker aspects of Tyoma's psyche. He is a constant reminder of Tyoma's failures and regrets, and can sometimes exacerbate his anxiety and self-doubt. In spite, of this Tyoma seems to only see the value of Solnyshko's presence.

VOICE NOTES:

-Exactly the same as Fyodor's voice, but with a higher pitched voice - a sort of 'ethereal' sound.

-More eery or malicious, but in a concealed manner.

  • english
Voice description:
