Hello, everyone! My name is JordantheCat11 and I'm putting together a full graphic novel dub of Anya's Ghost by Vera Brosgol.
For those of you who don't know of Anya's Ghost, here's the book's summary:
"What if your BFF is a ghost?
Of all the things Anya expected to find at the bottom of an old well, a new friend wasn't one of them. Especially not a friend who's been dead for a century.
Falling down a well is bad enough, but Anya's normal life might actually be worse. She's embarrassed by her family, self-conscious about her body, and she's pretty much given up on fitting in at school. A new friend--even a dead one--is just what she needs.
But Anya's new BFF isn't kidding about the 'forever' part..."
Because this graphic novel contains over 220 pages, I will be dividing this dub into several chapters throughout the late spring, summer, and fall seasons. Depending on the length of the chapters, I will be producing 1-2 parts per month. This'll be my longest ongoing project to date.
Note: This is NOT a paid project. It is just for entertainment purposes only.
Every single character is open for audition, including some extras I may need help with later on. When you are cast, I will set up a Discord server for everyone to interact in and submit lines for the project. If you don't have a Discord account, then we'll keep in touch via email.
All I ask before you record is that you follow these rules:
Someone who can assist me with some of the audio editing, including providing sound effects and suggestions for royalty-free music. Send me examples of your work for review.

Annushka "Anya" Borzakovskaya is a teenaged girl from Russia who considers herself an outcast. She's pessimistic about her family, her weight, and her status in school--until she falls down an old well and meets her new BFF, Emily Reilly.
For this dub, I'm looking for someone with a mid-ranged tone that can deliver a range of up and down emotions. Must have the ability to scream/panic.
(disgusted) "Aw, maaaan! Those things are so greasy! Can't we just get low-fat Pop-Tarts or something?"
(annoyed) "Oh boy, again with the 'Back in Russia.' I don't think American boys really go for girls that look like rich men."
(freaked out) "Oh...my God. Ohmygodohmygod. There's some kind of gas leak down here, isn't there?"
Emily Reilly is a young girl from the early 20's who died after falling down an old well. After almost a century, she meets Anya and becomes her new BFF, helping her with school and her love interest. However, little does Anya know that Emily has some secrets she's been keeping from her, including the truth about her death.
I would like Emily's voice to have a mid-high soft spoken range to show her friendly nature, but grow more aggressive as she becomes more manipulative. Must have the ability to scream.
(friendly) "Hello."
"Yes, I could hear them calling for me up above. But I couldn't cry out. I landed...wrong."
(innocently) "You will stay a little while, won't you?"
Anya's prideful mother from Russia. She cares and provides for Anya and her brother, Sasha, so they can both have a good life in America.
I want the Russian accent to really show with this character's voice as well as a bouncy and motherly tone to add to her personality.
"сырники." (pronounced as 'syrniki')
(with pride) "And what is so terrible with being a little fat? Back in Russia, being fat meant you were a rich man!"
(concerned) "Anya, you'll starve to death! Please, take some with you."
Anya's younger brother. He loves collecting dinosaur bones and fossils and sometimes takes his sister's things to dig them in the yard.
Like his mother, I want him to have a Russian accent. And because I want this role to be accurate, I prefer a woman to voice Sasha to sound like a young child.
(happy) "I love сырники!" (pronounced as 'syrniki')
(excited) "Anya! Come see this cool fossil I found today!"
(calling out) "Mommm, she says she won't go 'cause she doesn't feel good."
Pronounced as "Shi-vahn."
Anya's closest friend from Ireland. She likes to sneak out of classes and has a bad habit of smoking. Despite being a jerk on most occasions, she cares and looks out for Anya.
I want her Irish accent to be strong with a mid-high to mid-range tone.
(teasingly butch) "Hey, baby."
(playfully) "I do not deny it. But I promise to reform just as soon as you let me bum a smoke."
(annoyed) "Oh, forget it! Enjoy your cigarettes."
A Russian boy from Anya's school and church. He gets bullied constantly for who he is, but is very friendly with Anya despite her disinterest.
For this dub, I want Dima's voice to sound mid-high with a strong Russian accent. Bonus points if you can make him sound awkward.
"Professor? I finished a little early...maybe I can help you collect the papers?"
"I heard you did pretty well on the test yesterday. Did you find the prep book helpful? I know the AP questions are much harder, but if we learn those now our regular classwork will be a piece of pie!"
(calling out) "My mom is making ham cakes for the after service!!!"
Anya's secret crush from the basketball team and Elizabeth's boyfriend. He may seem nice to Anya at first, but later on, she discovers that he's not very faithful to his own girlfriend.
Sean can have a mid-ranged tone like any other cool high school basketball student.
(impressed) "That was a pretty bitchin' fall back there! I've gotta try that the next time we have to do the test."
"This weekend? Yeah, for sure! I didn't know you even knew Matt."
(nervous) "Uh...listen...I know this looks--ah, forget it. You're cool. Right, Anya?"
Elizabeth Standard is the most popular girl in school and Sean's girlfriend. Despite Anya's envy for her, Liz is actually very kind and friendly. However, later on, Anya discovers that Elizabeth has some baggage regarding her relationship with Sean.
(genuinely worried) "Are you okay?"
(happy) "Hey, baby! Thanks for waiting for me.”
(upset) "Don't you understand? I love him!"
A random dude who rescues Anya from the well.
Give this guy a mid to mid-high range with a "cool dude" kind of tone.
(confused) "...Are you a hot chick? You kind of sound like a hot chick."
(tosses her the rope) "Here you go, hot chick!"
Anya's economics professor.
She can have a mid or mid-low ranged tone.
"All right, everyone, we'll continue our lecture fro the last three weeks. Open your books to Page 217..."
Anya's biology professor.
Please give her a mid-low range with a stern tone in her voice.
"All right, class. You have one hour."
"Is there a problem, Miss...Br...Bor..."
(confused) "Uh...all right, Dima. Why don't you start working on your homework while everyone finishes up?"
The high school gym teacher. He makes sure every student takes the Bleep Test, whether they want to or not.
I will accept whatever range you prefer for this character's voice so long as you make him sound pushy.
"Ladies, ladies, ladies! Please contain your girlish excitement, we'll begin shortly. First let's have a quick refresher on your favorite and mine, the multi-stage fitness test!"
"All right, girls! Ready...set--go!"
(annoyed) "Ladies! If we are all done losing ourselves in Anya's derriere, we have a test to finish!"
A random student in Anya's gym class. She and Anya plan on pretending to trip during the gym test to get out of it.
I imagine a mid-high to mid range with a younger tone for her voice, but I'll allow other interpretations as well.
"I thought you and Siobhan always skipped out on Bleep Test Day."
(pronounced as 'Shi-vahn')
(fake falls) "Oh, no! My ankle!"
(mad) "Hey, I thought the plan was to fall down together."
A random student who mocks Anya for her stunt in gym class.
You can give her a mid to mid-high range with a slight valley girl accent if you want.
(mocking) "Hey, Anya, I heard about your nice moves in Gym today!"
(disgusted) "Screw you, Siobhan!"
(pronounced as 'Shi-vahn')
One of Matt's friends from Anya's school. He meets her at the party and compliments her on her body, making her self-conscious.
For this character, I prefer a mid-ranged voice with a cool dude kind of tone.
(flirty) "Heeeeeey!!! What's your name?"
(dismissive, but cool) "Ah, forget it. I don't really care."
"Anya, I have to tell you something very important." (whispers) "Your boobs look spectacular in that shirt."
A random girl who attends Matt's party. She points Anya in the right direction to where Sean and Elizabeth are.
You can have her sound mid-range and nonchalant. Valley Girl accent is optional.
"Uuuh...knowing him, he's probably upstairs."
"You bet."
Matt's girlfriend. She makes out with Sean in the bathroom while Elizabeth keeps watch.
I'll accept a mid-high voice with a lovesick or drunk tone.
*giggles*
"Seeeean! Who's that you're talking to?"
"Seeean...I'm getting bored in here by myself..."
The public librarian. She helps Anya to find the local news so she can uncover the truth of Emily's death.
I'll accept whatever tone you'd like to give this character so long as she sounds helpful.
"Hey! You go to Hamilton School, right?"
"What are you after? Can I help you find it?"
"Local news, huh? I'd try the periodicals, upstairs."
The principal of Hamilton School and the Public Safety manager. He and his crew help to seal the well that Anya fell into.
I would like this character to have a mid-ranged tone with some gusto in his voice.
"Anya. I'd never realized you had such an interest in civic projects!"
"That's the spirit, young lady! Hopefully we'll see more of this kind of thing throughout the school year!"
(calling out) "Gentlemen! What did I say about lifting with your legs?! Do you want arthritis?"
Just some extra female voices for background, mainly during the school, gym, and party scenes.
"Nice shorts!"
*mocking laughter*
