A Messy Selection is a short story regarding an heir selection in medieval times. It is purely a fictional story based on imagination and contains some truth or background in some areas.
A note is that I am very carefree and do not require deadlines of any sort providing that you are at least keeping it in your mind.

ELM AOKI [sits up]: Do we have to… [looks down and bites his lips] go home?
Harper Grant is a kind person who only wishes for her family's survival. She withdraws from the heir selection to avoid getting killed. She doesn't care for power or anything like that.

HARPER GRANT [courteous]: I apologize, your grace. I tried to stop sister Ellis, but she wouldn’t budge.
HARPER GRANT [worried]: Are you okay?
HARPER GRANT [excited]: Cheers!
A strict yet kind man with the highest authority in the family. He is powerful and loving. He is biased toward the twins but retains authority over the Wayne Family.

CARL WAYNE [serious]: The reason I called everyone here is to decide who my successor will be.
CARL WAYNE [interrupts]: It’s okay. Are you two okay?
CARL WAYNE [awkward]: I’m sorry. Well, um, I didn’t send you to the countryside because I didn’t care about you, it’s the opposite, I cared too much about you and didn’t want you to get hurt. But in the beginning, [tears fall] I couldn’t take it, I believed you had killed Lea.
A hot-headed boy who is forced to play killer by his sister, who only wishes the best for him. He's strong on the outside, but easily embarrassed on the inside.

LUCAS JULIAN [points to ANDREA MCWINE]: A WITCH!
LUCAS JULIAN: Haven’t you heard? It’s been found that this substance is harmful and filled with many items that will harm others.
LUCAS JULIAN [hot-headed]: Do I look okay?
Ellis Julian is a desperate haughty girl who is like the overprotective mom of Lucas Julian. She is hung up with her strict mom who died when giving birth to Lucas and decided to lay her mother's expectations on Lucas's. Her actions make Lucas feel like a doll just to get on the throne of the Wayne family.

ELLIS JULIAN [sighs]: Stop crying. What is there to cry about? If anything, you couldn’t even get rid of those two twins. [stops and stares harshly at LUCAS JULIAN] Useless.
ELLIS JULIAN [disappointed]: Are you still hung up on Andrea? I know you were close with her, but not this close. You have to remember, we will die if you fail to become the heir. What’s done is done, you can regret it, but it will be of no use.
ELLIS JULIAN [on the verge of tears]: Don't call me that, you ungrateful brat!
Peter McWine is a person who's let his hatred get the better of him, turning him into a shut-in. His mother, Andrea McWine, was framed to a witch and hung. He hates Lucas and his father, vowing to get revenge by being the heir.

PETER MCWINE: Mom?
PETER MCWINE [furious]: If it wasn’t for him! If it wasn’t for [points] HIM! Mother would be by my side right now. Mother wasn’t a witch, she just...
PETER MCWINE: Ah, no, I’ll be honored to accompany you, young masters.
A poor woman who was a maid before being the concubine of the lord of the Wayne family, "Carl Wayne." She is accused of being a witch and hung in front of her son, being the main cause of Peter McWine's hatred of his family.

ANDREA MCWINE [forces a smile at PETER MCWINE]: I’m sorry I couldn’t protect you, my dear angel.
ANDREA MCWINE [begging]: I am innocent my lord. You can try the bread if you don't believe me.
ANDREA MCWINE [points to herself]: Me? I’m not a witch.
The coachman is a minor role that brings the twins to having memory loss. He is an open character with no design, so whoever is chosen will have free reign over his few lines.

Opal Lewis, the oldest of the Wayne children, is a character who brings Lucas to an understanding with his sister, Ellis. He is the first to withdraw from the successor selection and the most understanding of the Wayne children.

OPAL LEWIS [quietly]: What’s the matter, my dear younger brother?
OPAL LEWIS [raises a cup at LUCAS JULIAN]: More tea, boy?
OPAL LEWIS [continues]: I am content with what I have. For me, my family, and the people who care for me are enough. I do not need more power.
Remy is a person supporting Lucas in the successor selection. The Countess is a woman of grace and elegance. He/She is also an undeveloped character who is free to be changed.

REMY, NOAH [respectful]: Greetings, it is an honor to meet the five successors and your grace, Grand Duke Carl of Wayne.
REMY [haughty]: I chose Lucas.
REMY [grumbling]: Cheers.
Noah is a neutral figure who serves as a placeholder for a vote. He is formal, respectful, and has a character that is free to change.

NOAH [gives a cup of medicine]: Here is some medicine, it’s an antidote to the stomach ache pill that Lucas gave you.
NOAH [respectfully]: Greetings, young masters.
The narrator must have a clear voice that tells the story in a way that follows the story.

[The COACHMAN speeds the carriage up, and the horses run faster than ever. Inside the carriage, ELK AOKI and ELM AOKI hold onto each other tightly.]
[Silence overwhelms the running carriage as the COACHMAN is cut off. Fear spreads to the twin boys.]
[One of the carriage wheels falls off. ELK AOKI rushes to hug his brother to protect him, but he bumps his head on the side of the carriage and blacks out. ELM AOKI stares at his fallen brother and anxiety builds up. He raises his head and sees a shadow covering the window and yells before he faints out of fear.]
