Kenzou Usui

The unassuming yet deeply authoritative Headmaster of Southern Cross High School. While the island of the Southern Cross is consumed by the secret battles of the Glittering Crux and the cosmic power of Cybodies, Kenzou Usui stands as the bedrock of everyday normalcy.

As the official faculty advisor for the Midnight Flight Club, he provides a safe, structured haven for Takuto Tsunashi, Wako Agemaki, and Sugata Shindo to explore their youth—unbeknownst to the faculty that he quietly shields their theatrical and supernatural antics from outside interference. He exudes a calm, grandfatherly warmth, balancing rigid school protocols with a deep, silent understanding of the island's unique burdens.

Voice Direction:

Pacing & Cadence

• The "Principal's Pause": Never rush. Use deliberate, rhythmic pauses. Speak like a man who expects people to wait for his words.

• Weighted Delivery: Make every sentence carry physical weight. Let words land heavily to ground the chaotic energy around him.

Texture & Resonance

• Chest-Heavy Baritone: Keep the voice placement low and deep in the chest. Avoid any nasality or artificial sharpness.

• Gravel & Air: Lean into a dry, gravelly texture of an older public speaker. Soften the edges with a gentle breath to show warmth.

Emotional Modulation

• Understated Power: Rarely yell. Increase resonance and projection in the lower register for command, like a low rumble of thunder.

• Amused Detachment: Maintain a dryly amused undertone with students, signaling he knows they are up to trouble but looks away.
