CHARACTER INFO:
(HE/HIM) Gaspar Gunner is a side character of Roses Beneath. He’s a professional bounty-hunting cowboy with too many nicknames under his gold-studded belt. His outward overconfidence and (self)-endangering smugness sets him apart from any other guy slinging their gun ‘round these parts! Beware, though, for the trademark grin he dons on the battlefield is susceptible to crack under pressure.
Gaspar, first and foremost, is a yearner; having spent most of his life in one place, Gaspar dreams of moving some place new. When he’s not spending his money on drinks or other cheap thrills, his savings are dedicated to…somewhere. He hasn’t quite narrowed his options down. Bad past relationships have solidified in his gut as an instinct to run away from intimacy and commitment. Despite this, he finds himself in a rather happy relationship with Angelino and Damian. Men he shared drinks with evolved into people he’d lay his life down for in what feels like a twirl of his pistol. Trust is hard to come by and harder to stick to, and yet Gaspar sinks his into them, even with the primal fear of memetic oblivion.
Perhaps the most ironic thing is how that fear of his left him: The events of the prologue were something that set Gaspar’s psyche in shock. Throughout the Ardenti, he tried in earnest to protect both his partners from the carnage that threatened to engulf them. It was an effort rooted in paranoid instinct. It was absolved the moment he landed in the void with Damian. It was when they were one man down that one thing became clear: he was never to be abandoned.
The resolution sits heavy amongst pressurized air. Gaspar deems himself fearless now, finally, after all this time. Is that another comforting fantasy of his?
