ABOUT THE CHARACTER
Martha Dunnstock is the fiercely loyal, optimistic, and deeply sympathetic heart of Heathers: The Musical. As Veronica Sawyer's childhood best friend, Martha is a sweet, gentle soul who clings to a childlike innocence and a love for old movies, completely out of place in the toxic, hyper-cruel social hierarchy of Westerberg High. Mocked relentlessly by the Heathers and nicknamed "Martha Dumptruck" due to her weight and style, she remains an easy target for the school's brutal bullying. Despite the constant torment, the abandonment by her changing best friend, and a devastating heartbreak involving her childhood crush, Ram Sweeney, Martha serves as the story’s moral anchor, reminding the audience of the tragic, human cost of high school cruelty.
