Please follow the directions in the Project Overview section. Each main character has 2 lines, and one monologue. The monologue is there mainly to give context to the character. The purpose of the 2 lines is to hear your accent. You may choose any part of the monologue that you think best shows off your interpretation of the character. Do as little or as much as you'd like. Please record both lines, and your choice of a section of the monologue.

Krissy is a natural leader. President of the Weavers. Typical Minnesota housewife with 2 kids, both in college. Loving and kind, but with a spine of steel. Hides a seedy past before she married her health insurance exec husband. Knows way more about the rougher side of life than her cushy, golf-course housewife demeanor should. Very resourceful and dependable. Natural leader, super organized and competent. Raunchy sense of humor that she doesn’t get let off the leash nearly enough.

Skills: the weaver of the group-binding spells is her specialty. Uses surgical tubing that she gets from Marie to bind the creatures. She doesn’t like to talk about why she’s so good with binding things with surgical tubing.

  • Ope, let me just scooch right on past ya there, Kitty.

  • He will be in charge of the guild’s social media! We’re going to have the Tiks and Toks, just like the kids!

  • I really wanted to be a backup singer for Great White. You know that video for Once Bitten Twice Shy? Yeah, I wanted to be the girl in the spangly bra. I did get to live that life for a little while but…Well, now I’m married to a wonderful man, with three fantastic children. And, you can’t beat the view from our deck of the back nine. I had, I mean have, everything. But, my kids are almost all grown up, and… is it greedy to want more? I don’t want to be greedy. I really don’t need more. No, I don’t want more. I have everything I could ever want. But a few years ago as we were taking our oldest to college, I was dozing in the car on the drive. I remembered something that happened when I was a kid. My grandma had this big loom in her house that she used to weave rag rugs on. Sometimes she’d let me watch while she wove her rugs. One day while watching her, I fell asleep, or at least I think I fell asleep. Next thing I know, I look around and the air is filled with golden strings criss-crossing all over. They were totally covering me and Grandma. I looked over and the strings were coming from her loom! Grandma was making those golden strings. The more she wove, the more strings covered her and me. A moment later, Grandma shook me awake. I looked around and didn’t see any more strings, but grandma was looking at me funny, like she knew a big secret. She sat me down on her lap and showed me how to work the shuttle. When I touched the warp, I could feel the strings vibrate, and if I blurred my eyes, I could almost see the golden strings again. I learned my craft from Grandma. Right after I graduated high school, I ran off with my boyfriend to New Jersey. He was going to be a rock star, and I was the backup singer. We lived pretty rough. A lot of things happened. I came back home a year later and my parents were just happy to see me alive. I used my weaving to keep me safe while on the streets. My weaving kept me safe that whole time. Now, I use my craft to keep my other Weavers safe.
