No. 1 is the leader of the Cafe and Diner and has worked there since 1995. She has seen Cafes rise and fall, friends die, secrets burn, coffee go cold. She's tired, she's worn out, and now she's been thrust into the role of leader. I like to think she has a raspy voice, but anything sort of deadpan and dead inside is great. In this story arc she's been forced to make friends with some very unfriendly people to keep the Cafe going.
(The opening lines of the story arc, where one might find excitement, No. 1 is just tired)
"Hello everyone. Servers and patrons alike. Friends too, though I’d rather skip the pleasantries for them."
(Here, No. 1 is trying to justify why she let the Cafe and Diner merge with their long-term enemy the Astoria 23rd Agency)
"The main advantage of this unlikely partnership is access to the latest and greatest cafe equipment. The kind that can make a cup of coffee that really gets you where you need to be."
(No. 1 is somewhat nostalgic about losing the Church where her first supernatural adventures really took place)
"Well, I wish I could say I’ll miss that old church, but to be honest, it’s got more bad memories than good."
