Nagito Komaeda is the Ultimate Lucky Student and comes off as a polite and easygoing boy. His personality is fairly submissive and self-deprecating. It is revealed early on in the game that Nagito has an obsession with hope and the Ultimates.

  • 1. "...I'm Nagito Komaeda. Nice to meet you. I'm the Ultimate Lucky Student... At least, that's what I'm called anyway." 

  • 2. "I understand better than anyone else that I'm ultimately worthless. I'm too arrogant to have dreams or cling to hope... I'm too disdainful to actually try at anything... I've made peace with the fact that I'm a lowly, stupid, insignificant human who can't do anything right." 

  • 3. "I love everyone here. That's why I want to be of good use to them. I love all of the Ultimates...and I admire them for being symbols of hope. That's right... In the name of hope, I love everyone's talents from the bottom of my heart. That's why... I don't want them to lose against something like killing. I want them to prove to me that hope will never lose, no matter how daunting the despair they face may seem. I want everyone to prove to me that "hope will never lose to despair"!"
