Your Turn to Dub Recasting [Your Turn to Die/Kimi Ga Shine Fandubs]
Project Overview
Sara Chidouin returns home from school late one night to discover that something's gone terribly wrong.
When she comes to, she finds herself, her friend Joe, and 9 other people trapped in a mysterious place. Placed in life-and-death situations, they must come to an agreement about what they should do - and who should die.
Hello! Thank you for taking a look at my project! My name is Echo, I’m the main admin for Your Turn to Dub.
My friend Tsu and I decided to give voices to Nankidai's characters back in October of 2019, since the game has no official voices.
I’d like to drill it in that all of this is fandubbing, nothing remotely close to official. We're in this for the fun of it.
As I said, we originally began in October, but something went wrong and we’ve been on hiatus for a while. But we’ve decided we’re finally ready to start again.
Be aware, this game deals with heavy subjects. If what’s listed below is a trigger for you, please do not audition. (Credit to vgperson for the list.)
Many depictions of death with blood and some gore.
People dying to all kinds of deathtraps.
Suicide.
Characters dealing with death-related trauma.
Characters having hallucinations from trauma.
Implied abusive relationships.
A few moments involving a character being stalked.
An optional and easily-avoidable bad ending involving mindbreak.
Some elements of body horror.
Some pseudo-jumpscares.
Swearing.
This page is a recast for our voice actors who no longer wanted to be part of the project.
While we will be voicing over clips from the game, (see above video) this is not a full game dub. We’ll be focusing on voicing over things such as the manga adaptation, and fan made comics. (With permission from said comic’s creators!)
Please be warned, there are heavy spoilers ahead for the entire game up to chapter 3-1a.

Guidelines:
Be mature.
This should explain itself. Be respectful to others. Use your common sense.
Audio
I don’t need a professional level of audio quality, but please:
Have a decent microphone
Speak clearly, be audible.
Cut out on static/background noise.
Communication
For those who are cast, we’ll need a way to assign lines. Our primary platform will be discord, but if you don’t have one/can’t make one, we can find a way around it. Ideally, everyone should have a discord account.
TBA.
Q&A:
Will you be casting before the deadline?
No. Despite being a recasting call, March 12th will be our hard deadline. No auditions past then will be considered.
Will you give feedback?
Not for every audition, but yes, for a few, I will!
Will you be double casting?
It depends on the role. If the character is listed as a lead, no, not this time. If the role is minor/supporting, then perhaps. It wouldn’t be fair to never give a certain person a part because the role they were cast for only appears for a short time.
If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments!
---
The directions for character voices on each role are not law. They’re just guidelines to give you an idea of what we’re looking for. If you want to try a different tone/pitch in your audition, then go ahead!
Want to join our discord? Here’s the link! https://discord.gg/MQ4CtEV
Thanks for reading! Happy auditioning!

Read title; Unfortunately, I don't have the time to create a reference for each of the characters. Sorry about that.

The "deadline" approaches.
As of writing this, the page has 199 auditions; exactly as many as the original casting page had. Which is... wow. I wasn't expecting that, haha. You might have noticed that the CCC deadline says March 9th, but in the description, I said March 12th. This inbetween will be the "grace period," kind of area. During this period, Tsu and I will be shortlisting and rejecting auditions, giving most of my feedback, and casting editors. Voice actors will not be cast before March 12th. If your audition is rejected, don't take it as your audition being bad. It just might not be what we're looking for. I'll give feedback on both the auditions I shortlist, and the auditions I "reject." If I don't give you feedback, and you'd like some, just message me! If you'd like to, I recommend using this time to get any retakes in. It's totally okay for new people to audition too! If you didn't manage to get one in on time, you still can. Auditions won't be accepted past the 12th, though. Please keep in mind, though, only one actor can be cast for a role. If you weren't cast, it doesn't mean you were bad, in fact, all of these auditions were great, and I've really enjoyed listening to them! I already know now that I'm going to have a very tough time deciding between all of you guys. I'll be uploading an "audition" of my own as reference for the necessary emotions I'm looking for for each character. This is supposed to be for reference, and I encourage you to take as many liberties as you'd like when listening to it. With all of that said, good luck, and have fun with any last-minute auditions you'd like to get in. -
Retakes/reauditions
I just want to clarify that redoing an audition is 100% okay! If you find a better way to do something, please give it a shot! You can do as many retakes as you need or want to. Thanks!

Joe is an extremely upbeat, excitable, considerate, and loyal person. He is easily embarrassed when others misinterpret him and is sensitive to how people perceive his appearance. Like Sara, Joe puts in all his efforts to help the group succeed in the puzzles. He consistently convinces the group to believe in Sara and her abilities and generally places most of his trust to her. Though he is described as gaudy by Reko Yabusame and has a small habit of saying the wrong things at the wrong time, Joe is genuinely kind-hearted and sensitive to others' feelings.
Although not academically one of the smartest in the group, he does provide occasional insights.
Despite his constant optimism and belief in others, Joe is not incapable of suspicion, as he was the first to suggest the presence of a traitor among the participants. Furthermore, while reluctant and torn over what winning the Main Game would mean, he was willing to go through with it, up until Sara exposed his true role.
---
I'd like a friendly, upbeat, medium-pitched, maybe medium-high voice for Joe. I have no references available, so please, go wild with your audition! If you're going to use any filters for the Hallucination Joe lines, please add an unedited take in as well.
Please be aware that Joe is a very excitable and expressive character. That should reflect in your auditions.
I don't need you to do all of the lines, but please do at least one of the lines per box.
"You stuck around this late for clubs?! I was gonna wither up from waiting!"
(Sara asks if he and Ryoko kissed) "Ki…?! Don’t be stupid! Doing that on the first date… They call people like that monsters! We held hands! Outrageous progress, right?!""Well, Sara? Can you think of any rebuttals? Don’t look so nervous! Put on your usual bigshot attitude!"
"She’ll be fine! Sara’s got a mind of steel! Just call her Steelmind!"
"Professor Mishima... Heheh! Got it, teach! I'll treasure my friends, and give some effort to studying too! Dunno where I'm going just yet... But I want us to graduate together!""I dunno... I just dunno... I mean... I just can't see you as bad guys... Even Sou and Alice... must be good people, really..."
"...Ahh, that's right... Guess I should say, uh... Well, it's hard for a guy and a girl to say this sorta stuff to each other, but... ...I love ya, Sara. You're my best friend!"(Hallucination Joe) "I died ‘cause you questioned me, you know. Don’t you feel any responsibility? And I suffered a long time ‘cause of you too, right? You got anything to say to that? [...] Hahaha! No reason to clam up. You damn murderer!"

Keiji is shown to be pretty casual and level-headed during the Death Game, though he comes off as shady to some of the participants. He usually refers to himself as "the friendly policeman" in an effort to establish himself as trustworthy and makes a pretense of being less cunning than he really is.
He's observant and canny and is quite good at reading other people and knows when to speak up and when to leave them be.
He's also encouraging and gentle with the younger participants, making it his job to at least keep watch over Gin.
---
I'd like a medium deep voice, mature voice for Keiji. Something casual and easygoing, but not too trusting.
"Thanks for that. Joe here wasn’t speaking up, see… Must’ve been wary of something… Wouldn’t even tell me his name. [...] Alright, everybody, listen up. I bet we’re all thinking the same thing. What is this place? Why was I brought here? And about all you know is who you are."
"You got it. So don’t trouble your friendly policeman. …Well, not that I’m really that sort of cop. [...] I got abducted in the middle of an investigation. It was tough to find a chance to spill it."
"So you’re saying you’ve had training? I’ll keep it simple too. Q-taro, even if you do have experience, I can’t trust you. We don’t have enough time. Time to build trust, that is."
"Are you going to be our goddess of victory... or our angel of death? Doesn't sound too bad to bet my life on that."
"Real victory for us isn't just getting home alive. It's getting back the peace we should've had... Returning to life as usual... Isn't it?"
"Wahaha.... She's the benefactor who protected me. I'll never forget it. I owed her the worst kind of debt... Left her to die...? No... I... But... I killed her... Megumi..."
(After a traumatic memory) "I'll kill you... I... am going to KILL you...!!"

Kanna tends to refer to herself in the third person, indicating a certain level of childishness, although she makes an effort to correct herself sometimes when she catches herself.
She is very trusting and naive and believes in Shin despite knowing he manipulated her in the past. She can seem timid but is actually quite not afraid to speak her thoughts. While she was at first referred to as 'Frightened Girl' in Sara's internal alias, this does not appear to be the norm. When she was exploring the third floor with Shin she firmly lectured him for weakly wanting more breaks.
Kanna is fairly dependent on those with stronger personalities and often relies on other people for help, due to the self-belief that she is incapable of helping herself or others.
Despite being one of the most vulnerable and unstable of the group, Kanna tries her best to be helpful and demonstrates bravery, the initiative to act, and a willingness for self-sacrifice.
---
I'd prefer a medium high voice for Kanna. If you can pull off a high voice for Kanna, give it a shot! But make sure it sounds natural.
For this role, I will need you to be able to scream at least once. We have plans to dub over the manga. On the same note, please, please, PLEASE, do not peak with your audio.
"…I was coming home… with my big sister… We were eating ice cream… We were just walking along and talking… about what to have for dinner… …Suddenly... some scary people came out from a black car parked on the road…"
(After receiving the smartphone, in tears) "Sis...ter... You... I.... Love you too....!! I love you...!!
"Um! Can you let Kanna handle it? I'll try to find the truth behind Sou's thinking..! I'm sure he'll be less wary with me than the rest of you...!"
"I was disoriented… so I didn’t hear what everyone else said. But you and Joe… and Mishima and Nao… You all had the same trial, right…? Kanna…Could Kanna… have saved her?"
"I have to say... I'd be glad if Sara were left out. My reason... umm.... Because you're the one I want to live the most. No matter what."
"After... I came here... my... sister... my sister... aaahhh.... AAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!! SHE'S DEAD! My sister! Why?! How?! It's my fault!! My sister!! WAAAAAAAAAAHHH!"

Reko seems intimidating, assertive, and "rough around the edges", especially in comparison to her milder female companions such as Nao and Kanna. However, she's generally friendly and takes on a sisterly role for those younger than her. She seems to act kinder to those who may be seen as "weak". This is shown when Reko immediately comforts Kanna when hearing about her sister and treats her more gently. This, however, was not part of her personality before Alice was arrested for murder. Alice also describes Reko as having always been overflowing with talent and charisma from an early age.
Reko is not fond of catering to others' expectations of her. As a child, she deliberately rebelled against those who were managing her music career by making songs that she wanted, no matter how unmarketable they were.
However, Reko tends to be quick to panic and is afraid of the dark and superstitious of things like ghosts. In conversation, she alternates between the masculine pronoun "ore" and the more neutral pronoun "watashi." She has great reflexes and a great memory.
---
I'd like a medium to medium low, strong and assertive voice for Reko. Think of Joan Jett.
"…Naturally, all my stuff’s gone. My precious bongos, my phone, my wig… It’s all gone! [...] Goddamn kidnapper! If you threw out my stuff, I’m gonna beat your ass so hard…!"
"Just like the gaudy guy said, my band's made enough of a name to get into magazines."
"Cut it out! Don’t say that shit! Did you mean to hurt her?! ‘Course not, right?! Sure, Mishima was the first to lie…! And I dunno if that was right or not…! But guess what?! There was hope in Kanna’s eyes! You know how hard it is to show hope to a person who’s heart’s been snapped…?!"
"Because...! I...! I'm alive...! My memories...! My feelings...!! Overcoming their deaths...! My pain...! All of us helping each other... Was it all... a program...? Am I... a fake...?"
"You dumbass! Bro!! Don't die on me!! Open your eyes bro! It's me, it's Reko!! I'm... Alive!!"
"No... Sure enough, I can't forget Alice. I don't have too many memories with him. If I lost the bad memories, there'd be hardly anything left. So... I don't wanna forget even a shred."

Being a little odd, Mishima often chuckles after sentences, and his emotions are often in conflict with his appearance. Mishima seems to enjoy acting strangely to amuse others, behaving in cryptic ways and being overly analytical of everyone's actions. His unusual social quirks aside, Mishima makes it clear he has no ill intentions and frequently reminds others to be safe and cautious. Despite his appearance, Mishima is an incredibly kind, caring, and encouraging person. After his A.I. self learned about how much suffering Nao was going through after his death, he could only blame himself for it. He deeply regrets not being able to live longer, because he only wanted to protect Nao. He also regrets not being able to live on to see Nao continue to grow, as well as his other students.
Despite the pride he takes in Nao as her former teacher, his compassion extends to all of the other Death Game participants. During the first chapter, he shows great concern for Kanna and even helps to spur her onward towards hope, albeit by lying about the circumstances of the first trial.
His personality is further expanded upon in the sidestory, where he is the first protagonist. As a leader, he is compassionate, willing to listen, and knowledgeable. Most of his individual events consist of him either giving advice, or letting other characters open up to him. Despite being primarily an academic and artist, he demonstrates great practical knowledge - during one of Joe's events, he is able to discern poisonous tropical berries from safe ones.
---
I'd like a medium or medium high voice for Mishima, with an evil scientist sort of vibe, (just don't overdo it!). If you have a different idea for Mishima's voice though, feel free to go for it!
"Stupendous! A level-headed child who does as his parents teach him! Yet, this is indeed an emergency... Hrmm."
"Oh my… It appears to be a bit one-sided. Hm… So this is a tablet for voting… …If you were a human, I suppose there would be. Something like, 'cease this, if you have a heart.'"
"Of course, surely there have been times I’ve been disliked by students… but... No, no student would cause such an incident. So I’d like to believe… For after all, as you can see, I even have students who come to visit me after graduation… Mwahaha. I believe we made it through the First Trial thanks to our combined knowledge, as well."
"It was a joyous day. My students wished to be taught oil painting, so I held a lesson at my secret atelier… [...] I drove everyone home as well… And while heading for the last house, there was a security checkpoint. After being stopped there… it seems I lost consciousness. When I awoke, the First Trial began."
"There’s nothing to fear in failure. A person’s life does not end there. As long as you live on… Happiness will surely come to you!"
"…You were unlucky, miss Kanna. Because we only had one key, we… We had to remove the other restraints by force. …Luckily, miss Nao had myself, and miss Sara had Joe. Due to our having a strong man, we barely managed to survive. [...] I suppose it was a trial of… both assessing the situation, and of might. For you and your sister… It was a trial with hardly any chance of success…"

Ranmaru is a casual and easy-going boy. He is generally placid in nature, although occasionally flustered, such as when Sara holds his hand. He seems to come off as nervous or awkward in certain situations. Ranmaru also tries to keep quiet and distant until provoked.
He is shown to be compassionate and expresses a want to be useful to others.
He is somewhat brave when he wants to be, such as when he took it upon himself to become "it" to relieve Sara and shut down Hinako questioning him by saying he can do whatever he wants. Despite this, he holds a great fear of death, doing nothing during the battle with Midori in the case that Midori's death would result in his own as well.
---
I'd like a cool, medium toned, laid back voice for Ranmaru.
"...It's about these red threads on our collars that connect us... If the people in a pair get some distance apart, their collars activate and their heads fly off. [...] Well... Actually, that's only for us supports. Your collar won't activate, Sara."
"Sara… uh… Can we talk for a sec? [...] No, it’s important… it has to be now… [...] Right. You see… there’s a person from Asunaro among us. I’m thinking this is special info only I have. [...] All I know is… there’s a human from Asunaro. And the dummies are dolls, right? [...] Sorry for troubling you… But now was the only time I could say it. I dunno you at all, Sara, but… being just a pair… I kinda don't like it…"
(Exploring a strange frilly pink room) "What're you chickening out for? Didn't I tell you to be prepared? Who knows when she'll attack... Let's search the room for a weapon or something!"
(Tired, dying) "Urgh...
Dammit... This is awful...
Why did this... happen to me...
Is there... Someone there...?
There is, right...? Answer me...
Am I... gonna die...?
Ahh, this sucks ass... seriously...?
Sure, my life was pretty boring, and I didn't care about the future...
But now...? Ain't it strange...?
It doesn't hurt at all...
When I'm bleeding this much from my gut? Why doesn't it hurt...
Doesn't feel like... I'm really dyin'...
Hey...
Am I still alive...?
Hey..."

Not much is exactly known about Mr. Chidouin. In a flashback shown at the beginning of Chapter 2, Part 1, he gave Kai Satou his signature red and yellow apron, that once belonged to his mother, as a gift and said that he and his wife considered him family. He gave him the responsibility of taking care of his daughter "when the time comes to it", most likely referring to the Death Game. Also according to this scene, he is not the actual father of Sara.
Mr. Chidouin is also shown in this scene acting somewhat angry and protective when Kai mentions his affection for Sara. He says that he may have trusted her to him, but he will never give her to him.
If Sou is voted for in the second Main Game, he is shown in a flashforward, talking to Sara in The Winner's room and saying that he is glad that she survived. He then announces the beginning of the final Death Game.
---
Please be aware that this is a very small role, so far, he only appears in 3 scences, including the manga. Set as a minor role currently because the character is likely to become more major as time goes on.
"So... You couldn't find anyone who'd take it in, and ended up bringing it home?
Hmm. You say it's just for one night but... Your mom is allergic to cats, remember?"
"If it comes down to it, I'm trusting you with Sara.
Someday that girl... will learn I'm not her real father.
That girl's destiny has so much potential for change that i've put my own life on the line... It's far from trifling.
But I've got no worries. Because our family's got a hero who'll protect her from the shadows."
"Ahahaha...
You're doing well, Sara.
Your father's glad you've survived...
Now, let's begin, shall we?
...The final Death Game."
While not necessary, any applications for this role will be greatly appreciated.
Lack of proper editing software (at least for me, personally) was one of the main reasons for the hiatus. And the other admin, our main editor, needs a backup as well.
If you apply, you'll be working with us to edit comics together. Longer works, like the manga or game clips, should be separated up for us each to do a portion of.
This is the only role we'll pre-cast, provided people apply. We will also be casting multiple people for this role, given enough auditions.
Say something you think would fit
