The Voice Actor Compendium is hosting a competition.
We're looking to expand our private roster of VAs. But instead of requesting demos, we're trying something a bit different.
I’m looking to expand the roster by 20.
You’ll find below 6 lead roles. Some male, some female.
The winning auditionee of each role will receive $10 as compensation for their efforts and will receive an invite to the roster. Payment via paypal.
1 or 2 runners up for each role will be invited to the server as well.
There are also 4 supporting roles.
These will be paid $5 each to the successful auditionees.
The best audition submitted will be cast.
It's all about acting talent, not impressionism.

Requirements for auditioning:
- Name your files YourName_Role. 48kHz mono .wav files only. (I know that CCC will bitcrush the audio in browser playback. I’ll be downloading the files don’t worry.)
- XLR microphone required to get in. Entry level microphones are acceptable. Minimum is AT2020/NEAT King Bee or higher. Neewer Brand mics are unacceptable. So are most USB microphones with the exception of the RODE NT-USB and some other very expensive options.
- Any interface is acceptable. But if you’re using the Behringer Uphoria UM-2 please consider upgrading. The noise floor bump that the interface adds is quite significant.
- Please record your audio at the correct gain setting. Between -12db and -28db.
- No room reverb or echo. Record in your booth or closet.
- Audio editing: Please submit only audio you’d send to a director for a project.
(An example might be: Noise removal. Silencing breaths. De-Clicking, EQ, Compression & a Normalize.)
Other things to note:
Improvisation around the lines is acceptable if you’re looking to accentize the dialogue or give the characters a more unique approach
The focus is on delivering a convincing portrayal of the character you’re auditioning for.

Personality:
Big Madam was a sadistic individual who took pleasure in inflicting suffering on others. Examples included organizing quite a few auction shows for human goods, as well as lending her pets for Dinner Shows at the Ghoul Restaurant.
Big Madam's wealth was extensive and she was able to afford the highest luxuries. She had a particular appetite for collecting petite, feminine humans, as well as handsome ones. She was able to offer up 200 million Yen (roughly 2 million USD) to buy Tooru. However, her personality was anything but distinguished. She made no qualms about expressing her emotions, and her temper often went unchecked. When she was pleased, she could be feverishly enthusiastic, with an odd habit of drooling with excitement. On the other hand, she was uncontrollably brutal when things did not go her way, acting childishly and lashing out.

Personality:
Lelouch is a highly intelligent individual who is also calm, sophisticated, and arrogant due to his aristocratic upbringing. While at school, Lelouch conducts himself as a sociable, likable, and often easygoing student. However, this is really a mask to hide his true nature. While as Zero his true nature is expressed. His charisma and beliefs in justice gain him the trust and respect of many soldiers and leaders.
(Taunting an opponent by asking them questions they cannot possibly answer.)
What do you do when there is an evil you cannot defeat by just means? Do you stain your hands with evil to destroy evil? Or do you remain steadfastly just and righteous even if it means surrendering to evil?
(The tone is casual conversation. But there's a deep and meaningful naunce to be communicated.)
A long time ago, Nunally, Suzaku, and I talked about something. We wondered what happiness would look like if we could give it a physical form. If I'm not mistaken, I think it was Suzaku that said that the shape of happiness might resemble glass. His reasoning made sense. He said that even though you don't usually notice it, it's still definitely there. You merely have to change your point of view slightly, and then that glass will sparkle when it reflects the light. I doubt that anything else could argue its own existence more eloquently.

Personality:
Prior to the fall of his country, Olberic was a knight who dedicated his life to the safety of his liege and kingdom. After the fall of his country, he had lost his purpose as a knight and constantly questioned what his reason for living was. Gaston, the boss of the brigands he had encountered in his starting chapter, described how his eyes looked dead and only lit up like flames upon mention of Erhardt.
(He's setting out on an adventure. Lots of energy and excitement, yet noble. You're a knight.)
And so I must go and save the boy from those ruffians. What's that you say ? You wish to lend me your aid? Hm... You seem like you could hold your own on the battlefield. It would be my honor to call you a comrade. Phillip has been taken to the brigand's den north of the village. We must make haste.

Personality:
Akame appears to be a very serious and coldhearted person which stems from her hellish training that the Empire forced her and her sister through, but it is eventually revealed that she is just socially awkward. She cares about her comrades very much and she is always worried that one of them may not make it out alive due to her first-hand experience that war always has a high mortality rate. After Tatsumi fought Ogre, she stripped him of his clothes to check his body for wounds and Akame rushes to Mt. Kageboshi to aid Hinata who was about to be killed by Yomihime.
(Cold. This is a bittersweet moment. I'm not looking for a totally flat delivery. Get a feel for the character and give a delivery you think is right.)

Mereoleona has a hostile attitude and short temper. She is a loud and aggressive woman who believes actions show more than words. However, despite this, Mereoleona shows a deep understanding in how to motivate others, even those she just met.[7] She respects anyone who is willing to get strong and does not judge others based off their upbringings or lineage.

Personality:
After learning of the experiments that led to his birth, Sephiroth falls into insanity, becoming murderous, ruthless and vengeful yet retaining his calm and cold demeanor. He develops a messiah complex, proclaiming to be "the chosen one" destined to lead the planet. He becomes sadistic and enjoys mentally torturing Cloud. Sephiroth is devoted to Jenova and her cause, even though her body serves as little more than his avatar. He has become an agent carrying out Jenova's will.
Tell me what you cherish most. Give me the pleasure of taking it away.
The last thoughts of the Geostigma's dead. Those remnants will join the Lifestream and girdle the planet. Choking it... corroding it. What I want, Cloud, is to sail the darkness of the cosmos with this planet as my vessel, just as my mother did long ago. Then one day we'll find a new planet. And on its soil, we'll create a shining future.

Personality:
Eijiro is a boisterous and outgoing guy with a fondness for the concept of manliness, often using the terms "manly" and "unmanly" to describe things and people he does or doesn't like, respectively. Those who showcase a noble, brave, and/or determined attitude tend to emotionally move him to tears, quickly earning his complete admiration, respect, and friendship. Similarly, he will call out traits that are the opposite of that, such as cowardice and dirty play. Eijiro himself is determined and selfless, bravely putting the safety of others before himself. He is also a big fan of Crimson Riot, a retro hero that he takes inspiration from, including personal values and his own hero name.

Alright this one is targetted towards female VAs who can voice male kids/teens.

Personality:
Naruto is characterised as boisterous, exuberant and unorthodox, quite similar to Hashirama Senju. He inherited his mother's verbal tic, as he ends his sentences with "Dattebayo!" (だってばよ!) when emotional. Though he responds best to competition and is not afraid to ask for assistance, Naruto is relatively naive, simple, and slow to understand principles or situations. He often requires an oversimplified analogy in order to grasp explanations, and can even forget some concepts that he himself noted earlier if he is too emotional. Naruto is aware of his faults, and admits he acts strong to mask his embarrassment and frustration about them. Despite his naivety, Naruto can be quite observant, picking up on things others miss and retaining information casually gathered through conversation.
I couldn’t understand what a parent’s love was like because you guys were never there, so I could only guess. But now I know, I live because you and Dad gave your lives for me and filled me up with love before the Nine-Tails was inside me! So here I am, happy and healthy! I’m glad I ended up being your son!

Personality:
Kaneki a shy boy, with Hide being his only close friend. He usually spends most of his time reading books, mostly novels. He is extremely gentle and appears to be optimistic most of the time. Influenced by his mother and a true testament of modesty, he willingly takes blame and punishment from others so that he can be someone who doesn't hurt people, but rather "the person getting hurt". However, this lack of assertiveness normally gets him bullied and taken advantage of.
However, beneath his selfless and gentle nature is an underlying fear of being alone. Ever since his mother died, Kaneki has developed his personality to resemble his mother's. He despises the idea of solitude, hence he tries to protect those dear to him so he would not have to face his fears of being alone in the world.
This is perhaps his greatest weakness and act of selfishness. Since Kaneki is always trying to protect others, he is essentially trying to protect himself from becoming alone again. Therefore to escape that scenario, he would shoulder the task of protecting others onto himself without looking for others to help him. This is also the reason why Kaneki seems to reject the notion of "living" because to him, watching others die before him is the beginning of returning to those lonely days without anyone behind him.
(Just the one line for this one. Nice and simple. I want to hear your protagonist speech. Really take time to create build up and suspense. It's a monologue.)

Personality:
Hisoka is portrayed as entirely self-serving, self-absorbed, and selfish; he does whatever he likes as long as it pleases him in some way. His insatiable love for spilling the blood of powerful fighters in combat and his enjoyment of extreme pain while doing so fuels his seemingly sadomasochistic desires. In order for them to grow to their full potential (so as to improve the pleasure of killing them later), Hisoka allows the main protagonists to live in situations wherein he is easily able to kill them. Likewise, he grows excited to meet any new people he deems worthy of fighting or anyone with the potential to be a good fighter and entertain him in the future. The thrill of fighting strong Nen users in tactical battles and near-death experiences is an orgasmic experience for him. It is likely one of the reasons why he goes out of his way to find new toys to play with. If they break, he either loses interest or kills them before going out to find more potential prey.
