The Rapture
Project Overview
‘The Rapture’ is an audio drama in three parts (Eden, Gethsemane and Calvary), with twenty episodes a part, set in a dystopian version of our world.
Have you ever wondered of The Rapture? How about what comes after?
Society is reimagining itself. Building itself off of memories of this thing they call ‘Humanity.’
Tainted roam the street. Creatures. Beasts. Human’s with blood polluted by demonic remains of their ancestors sins. Four centuries have passed- but still, we are not Pure.
We kill our own. They butcher us in return. A cycle of predator and prey. Purity and terror.
Is this how it feels to die?
The Three Reigning Bloodlines control these lands, what they once knew as England, these perfect few who decide who lives. And who dies.
Something is coming. Revolution?
Slaughter.
This project is a horror drama, entering around the lives of the Tainted trapped in the centre of this society, and the fight awaiting them on the horizon. Strictly casting as 18+, The Rapture features many dark themes, including child death, major role death, intense body horror and emotional distress, as well as general gore.
All roles will be long term and unpaid, working virtually with eachother. It’s a bit of a passion project of mine, after various failed attempts, and creating a positive environment is very important to me. Everyone is welcome, and we are entirely inclusive to trans actors, medically or not, and alterations to gender if the actors wish.
I cannot wait to hear what you all come up with, and hope to create our horrifying family of mutated humans and perfect lies soon!
Best of wishes and all the luck!

Theodore is the leading protagonist of The Rapture, and takes on a more narrator like role for the first few episodes.
A somewhat foolish young man in his early twenties, he was raised with decorum, and speaks with the diction of a well educated man. Sometimes far too naive for his own good, and prone to accidental selfishness, he is sincerely a good man at heart, even if his upbringing has blinded him to many of the realities of the world he lives in. At his worst, he can be somewhat judgemental, and distant enough from his own emotions to not release how he truly feels. This includes anger, fear- and even love.
Theo is a very emotive character, though softly spoken, and tackles many of the darker themes of the project, as well as one of few characters who regularly monologues, or narrates the majority of several episodes. If interested in auditioning, check over the content and be prepared to have a LOT of lines. Not only that but he is very emotive, so as much of a range as possible is ideal. Being slightly sheltered, he is far more sensitive than many other characters, and often finds himself discovering the grotesque secrets of his society without warning or anyone to lean on.
The character is, as with all my projects, able to be shaped to the actor, so I do not look for perfection, but your takes on the roles! It is likely a long term project, and Theodore is the most reoccurring of the roles, so his casting is incredibly important. I can’t wait to hear you all bring by boy to life, and the best of luck to everyone!

[Caring, but awkward] You… you look tired. I, er- I brought you a blanket. It is rather cold, isn’t it?
[Fearful, betrayed] No! Stay away from me, you bastard! You lied to me!
[Slowly breaking down in tears] I could not do anything! No matter how much I yelled, even when… when my throat wouldn’t stop burning, I couldn’t do a damn thing!
For the sake of keeping major plot within the project, the name is being hidden.
Another of the major protagonists, this role is a rough, but golden hearted young man in his late twenties. Raised on the streets of this vicious world, he may maintain a harsh exterior, one of threats and aggression, but he is just as afraid of life as the younger children he has taken in. Think of Fagin- if Fagin was hardly human, and even less stable.
This is one of the most important roles of the project- and he is a character of clearly contrasting sides. One- the supposed rebel leader, an anarchist of ferocious independence, leading groups of Tainted to attack the upper classes and seek revenge. An intimidating, merciless figure of both hope and destruction, a construction of the world surrounding him- and no child to underestimate.
The second- his true self. A sweet man, only trying to protect the only family he has left, caught in the tide of rebellion and revolution. A scapegoat for the masses.
He is a very animated character, charismatic and comforting to those he cares to be so for. Using almost impressively colourful language, he acts as a father, and a brother, to the major cast, going as far as needed to save the people he loves.
As a character, he is regularly is fights, so an actor interested in this role would need to be comfortable with the sounds needed- ie pained grunts, throwing punches etc.
The only clear detail, beyond his personality, is his cockney (or similar) accent. It may be somewhat varied, and in no way cartoonish, but he is the most rough-and-ready sounding of the cast.
Best of luck auditioning!

[Threatening] One step closer and I’ll gut your fucking son where he stands.
[Joking, teasing] Hey, why the long face, Eddie? It’s not like the world’s ending.
[Pained anger, overwhelm] Just- just leave me alone, right?! Piss off! You don’t know shit about me, stop pretending like you do! I’m fine!
For privacy and spoiler reasons, this name has been hidden.
The final of the three main protagonists, he is perhaps to most plot significant role in the project- a man in his early twenties (the same age as Theodore).
One of the main group, he is a character of two very distinct sides- the human, and the Tainted. Because of this, he demands two completely opposite styles of performance- almost like Jekyll and Hyde.
The first- his true self. A frightened man using coldness and social isolation to protect himself from harm. Emotionally turned off, despite wanting nothing more than connection, out of fear of what he could do to others and the harm he is capable of. Kind, but stifled, he tries his best to be what is needed of him- but with each day is actively hiding how much the world is tearing him in two. Sickly in health, and in mind, all he wishes for is someone to hold him close. Something for forever. And safe.
The second- The Tainted. A grotesque, mindless killer. Almost a Vampyr- if the body reacted as it should to the consumption of blood, and the insatiable hunger of a beast. This version does not speak, but communicates through sound. This is up to you to decide- but it must not be pleasant, or even bearable to here. It is pure horror. He is most alike a Vampyr, but far more animalistic and in no way controlled. Whether this is more alike a Clicker or the undead, or more snarling and hysterical- it is your decision! All that is important is that he has no control in this moments, and becomes one of two halves- desperately fighting for control. And for blood.
He is one of the roles most involved in the darkest plots, and the role is incredibly emotional, and could be difficult at times because of the subject matter- mostly centred on his Taint, and constant fear of harm. If you plan to audition, just make sure this is something you can work with!
Good luck!

[Defensive, paranoid] What…? Stop. Stop it. Don’t- don’t look at me like that.
[Softer, nervous] Is this… alright? If- if you don’t want me close, just say. I’ll leave. Promise.
[Try out some creature sounds!]
Hamish is an older, mature man, with a good, but tired soul. One of the leading group, he acts as a father, even grandfather (depending on the age of casting) to many characters, and is especially close to Nyx and Thyme.
Despite often having to take a role of leadership, this poor man Wished for retirement many years ago now, and tragedy took is from him. There is a sadness to Hamish, one most people could easily miss, as if he is grieving something he never quite had. Perhaps he is.
His Taint is most alike the Hanahaki disease, though as opposed to flowers it is sand, and leaves him with a rasping voice, wheezing and regularly having violent coughing fits.
Hamish is loyal to the end, and having had the luck to live as much of his life as he has, can be a little less defensive of himself- being quick to offer solutions at his own cost. But, in the end, he is endearing, somewhat humourous, and the father so many need.
Good luck!

[Hurried, laughing] Alright, alright.- on my way. C’mon, give an old man some space.
[Comforting, sorrowful] He’ll find a way. Damn near kill himself in the process. But he’ll find away, mark my words. Have I ever been wrong about this?
[Have a coughing fit- nothing else left to say]
Pen is a spunky, slightly immature teenage girl- who is part of a duo with her twin Lennox (Len). Inspired by a butterfly, she is a very energetic, bubbly girl around thirteen years old.
Part of the main cast, Pen begins as a cheerful, enthusiastic role beside her brother, squabbling but loving. She always puts on a brave face, and won’t hesitate to stand up for herself or family, no matter how old she is.
Later, her plot turns- and she takes on a more aggressive role. The world shapes her into coldness, closing herself off from the people she once loved. In harshness, she is cruel, growing up in a world that hates her kind, and with people who cannot understand her. Facing the simple act of growing older without a guiding hand, her naivety to the world leads to her being easily manipulated- a child’s view of it all.
Pen is a journey from innocence to far too much knowledge, and her voice slowly losing its life. In terms of accent, she is very much up to interpretation, but after casting, must match Len. If you feel like it, both can be auditioned for by one actor- as their genders are subject to change etc.
Good luck!

[Annoyed, playful] Hey, not fair! He picked the book last week, it’s my turn now, Hamish. Mine!
[Lovingly irritated] You’re actually so annoying. And you snore. Mhm hmm. So loud.
[Cold, distant] What? Did you really expect me to die just like that?
The second of the Fowler twins, Len is a thirteen year old boy most inspired by a moth.
A gentle, inquisitive type- afraid of nearly everything imaginable, despite being old enough to know better. He follows his sister around as if she could protect him from anything at all, and quite possibly believes it.
His voice is very delicate, even stammered, but does not hide his intelligence. Despite a lack of education, it is clear he is a bright boy, and often plays an integral role in helping those around him.
A quiet, but fierce guardian when needed, Len is old beyond his years, in a way not of sorrow- but of the need to be there for his sister. He is certainly the more mellow of the two, but by no means down, joking and playing with Pen.
His accent is up to you, but will need to match Penelope’s once cast-

[Whispering, worried] Psst- I can hear you crying. If… If you want to cry you don’t have to hide it. I cry sometimes too.

[Squealing with fear] What was that?! Over there, I heard a sound!
The figure head of the Clemonte Bloodline, and father to Theodore- somewhere in his forties.
A jittering mess of a man, anxious, and blinded by the world around him. Blake is a false attempt at control, a man not made for this life but forced into it. He carries many a burden, and many a fear.
Blake is mostly up for actor interpretation, but is heard both delivering public notices, and as himself- a ruin of the man he could have been. Something fundamentally broken, and flawed. He tries to love, to defend his family and people- but cannot get it quite right. Perhaps he is not capable of it at all.
He too is well spoken, a highly educated man.
Good luck!

[A public statement, grieving] I cannot find it in myself to believe this to be true. Surely I am to awaken, and it will simply be over.
[Yelling, desperate shock] Theodore?! Son- is that you?!
[Frantic] No, no- no! You are wrong, you are a fool- a damn fool.
The leading antagonist, Meridian is the figure head of the Herald Bloodline, and almost the world.
Somewhere in his thirties, Merry is a haunting man. More than uncanny, everything about him simply feels wrong. Too perfect. Too pristine. Too ideal.
His words are perfectly poised, soft, delicate yet powerful. There are few words to describe Meridian because he was made to be perfect.
Perfect to a sinister extent.
While is takes him some time to appear, Merry is the most crucial antagonist, and causes many of the horrific events across the nation, and the world. A genuinely vile man, and anyone auditioning should know he is an irredeemable monster in this tale. There may be tragedy at his core, but after the atrocities he aids in leading, it is impossible to find a world in which Meridian is at all innocent.
I can’t wait to hear your interpretations!
Good luck!

[Pleasingly] If it is perfection you strive for, then I must implore you to look no further.
[Amused, threat] Oh no. No, no, no. That is not how this works.
[Preaching] And this we shall do for the masses. For my people. For the Pure. For humanity!
Younger sister to Meridian, Emery is a secondary antagonist- somewhat inspired by a sucubus, but of less sexual lure.
Alike her brother, Em is uncannily ideal, perfect in every way. Suitors fall at her feet, and die at her hands. She is the violence behind his calmness, the viciousness behind her brother’s pleasing nature.
Alike a siren, but a beast. There is nothing feeble here. Nothing weak or impressionable. Emery is her own soul, and will burn any who try to step in her way.
Up to interpretation, she is simply well spoken, and so ideal it is entirely sinister. Upper class, perfect, and somewhere in her Late twenties or early thirties.
She is heavily involved in the later darker plots, including the manipulation of humanoids into pets, or servants, and is, alike her brother, an irredeemable attempt at humanity.
Good luck!

[Threatening] How very dare you. How can you, a freak, find such audacity in that black little heart of yours?
[Complaining] Oh my, Merry- you do not half know how to ruin a good time! Have some fun! A little pain never hurt anyone now, did it?
[Amused, insult] You are a beast. A creature. Nothing but the dirt under my shoe that must be crushed. You are my inferior in every single way.
A beast that was once a woman. Several appearances through the project, The Bear is a vicious Tainted. The star of a fighting ring, she appears beyond sentience or humanity, only violence and aggression to those near her.
Her communication is simply growls, snarls and the general sounds of a wounded, but frightfully violent beast. Unbelievably, she is most alike a bear, and does not use words.
This all up to interpretation, and I can’t wait to hear!
Good luck!
